Circus!
"Circus Circus Circus!!!"Zerk loudly proclaimed as he stood stiffly in his room waiting for his nanny to finish grooming him.
"Yes Zerkxiez. I am aware of the circus. We will leave just as soon as we are ready." The elder male relied with a time tested sense ofworn patcience. Zerk always hoped someday the male would snap at him. Yell or smack him. Just do anything that would warrent a crying fit and visit to his mother the Matron. Anything that would give him an excuse to order the annoying figure of authority in his life to be beheaded! Thus far he had had no luck. The older male seemed too wise, or too cautious, to be provoked by his childish antics. So Zerk was reduced to trying to be as annoying as possible witouth incurring the wrath of his father for misbehavior.
Zerk had insisted on wearing the white work robe that he had claimed from his fathers room for the outing. He wanted to look and feel like his wonderful father as much as possible today. The nanny, in his calmness, was working as best he could to make him appear as much the noble son as he was. The gold gilded white boots would be dirty enough once they left the House. The black and teal cloak looked a little out of place over the white work robe, but it was the best one he had. The spider silk was the finest that money could buy, and the platinum and gold threading made it worth even more. Zerk wanted to get his ears pierced, but his nany would not allow it yet, so he was forced to wear dangling clips on his lobes of gold and aquamarine stones. He wanted to wear the diamonds but the nany insisted they were too much of a target as it was to risk tempting more thieves their way.
Pfft. As if a thief would dare steal anything off him. It was only material wealth after all, mother and father had plenty of that. Zerk exhaled another impatcient sigh as his nanny began to snap the House Insignia clasp around his throat. "Are we DONE yet." He demanded with a scowl. His nanny stood up and extended his hand to Zerk silently.
Zerk glared at the hand with impudant hatred, ut eventually reached up and took the man's hand in his own. "Now we are done." His nanny determined.
Zerk and his nanny exited House Xexsis with five guards. One lead the pair, two flanked, and one guarded each side. The nanny had no problem with this arrangement, but to Zerk it was like wading through a sea of crotchs , butts, and legs. He hated it. He could hardly see through the gaps and no amount of complaining would get the guard to space out any. He had tried this many times before, and despite insisting his outdoors trip was always ruined, he couldn't even get the nanny to hire female guards to surround them at least. Well, he'd show them all. Once when he was old enough to be gay he'd do something to make it that no male would want to walk in front of him.... he would just have to get his fathers permission first...and an idea of some sort.
The sounds and colors of the circus were certainly enjoyable, and Zerk had every intention of going to the big tent and watching the fun acts inside. Maybe someone would get hurt! Before the prince became involved in his eager little daydream of the dragontamer getting gobbledup, a bright tent caught his eye along with the word 'fortune' painted on a sign. Zerk stoped and twisted at the nanny's hand as he tried to peer around the guard in the front. The nany did not let go. But Zer was able to see the tent more clearly now. "I want to go in there!!" He declared and pointed with a demanding finger. A fortune teller! Maybe she'd be able to tell him what he had to do to get rid of his nanny....

"It's like a swarm," Rylxyra whispered as she peeked her head around the tent's curtain. She was used to the mass crowds coming to see her fellow performer's in the big top, but not this quickly and never this many at once. It was as if the silence had bothered them so much that they were all called to it.
She allowed the curtain to flap closed as she wobbled back to her table. She stopped. It was leaning! The damn thing had a tilt to it and her coins, not to mention all of her cards were strewn about the floor. How could she have missed this? OOoooooh, someone was gonna get it. The petite drow bent down to scoop up her valuables and lifted the musky table cloth to get a better look.
"That no good- I can't believe he splintered my table! Look at it, just look at it. It's leaning inside!" She sat back with a huff. "What am I supposed to do? One surprised kick after a reading will ruin everything." Rylxyra looked around and spotted just the thing to fix it. A thicker scarf, no doubt one of the other's who had helped her set up. Well, it wasn't like they had done a brilliant job. Her table was broken and it had to be fixed.
She straightened up the leg and wrapped the scarf tightly around it, pulling as hard as possible before tying it off. "There. No more worries." There wasn't a doubt in her mind that someone was going to be chewed out by the mistress later. "Why, it's almost an omen." Rylxyra laughed and gathered up her skirts before settling into her plush seat.
Her crystal ball hovered in the air above the table, occasionally gravitating over the wax worn candles. Rylzyr stroked it lovingly with her thin hand. A more beautiful object had never been crafted and it was all hers!
Although, it could use some friends. Yes, friends. Other beautiful and expensive objects to replace the worn out trinkets littering her dark tent. Maybe some naive little rich whelp would come traipsing in here with a sack full of goodies.
Oh, how she wished.

There! He wanted to go in there! And as the young Prince wished, it would be done! After all, they were there in order to protect him as he entertained himself! With only a little bit of imposing himself upon his nanny to take him to the fortune tellers tent, Zerk soon happily found himself standing before the colorful structure.
"You stay out here. I want to go in alone." Zerk informed his guard and nanny.
"Absolutely not. The guard may stay outside, as I doubt there would be enough room for us all in there. But I am staying at your side." The nanny firmly informed Zerk. Zerk turned a nasty expression upon his nanny, but he did not contend with the males decision. To do so might end up with him being dragged right back home without so much as a sweet treat purchased to satisfy his spoiled nature. With a sulk, Zerk did not bring up his desire a second time. There was just too much at risk to try and throw his light weight around. Besides, only the guards were at risk around him. His nanny had immunity to his ire.
The pair entered the tent, Zerk in his white robe led the tall well groomed male by the hand. He pulled ahead, testing the speed that he could force his nanny to follow him without much result. Zerk's bright aqua eyes swept over the interior of the tent with a childish delight. How strange and odd! His eyes landed upon the hovering crystal ball, and those eyes widened along with a happy grin. "Lookit that!" He exclaimed eagerly with a pointing finger. The nanny's bright red eyes followed the pointing finger to look at the floating orb, but showed little to none in the way of excitement or interest. For the older male this was nothing more then a shame. Enchanted items being played with by some actor of a drow. The mystery and excitement of such a tent had long since faded from the adults mind to be replaced with a mundane skepticism. His eyes were more interested in scanning the area for any possible hidden threats rather then enjoying the exotic aura that seemed to fill the air.
Zerk, honestly, could hardly care for hidden dangers. He was Prince of the second House! His father was the Head of necromancy in the Tower Sorcere! He was the favored son of the Matron and who in their right mind would mess with his parents? No, Zerk was confident no one would dare lay a hand upon his little black haired head. His bright eyes moved past the hovering crystal ball and to the female sitting behind it. What strange markings and accessories! She had things in her face! Zerk's lips parted into a gleeful grin. "You can read the future? Can you tell me mine?"

Rylxyra sat up a little straighter in her chair when the young Prince arrived. She'd never seen anything quite like him, in corporal form at least. "What gorgeous eyes you have." She stated wistfully, motioning to the seat before her with a grand sweep of her hand. "And such dark hair- how glorious." Of course his robes were nothing to smirk at either. Obviously this kid was packing heat and she intended to get her cut.
And yet, something inside her detested the trickery of babes. That same half also liked to eat well, so it stayed quiet. She smiled mysteriously, looking up at the nanny now with a little quirk of her brow. It was a definate now that this child was wealthy, seeing as he had his own attendant. But it wasn't wealth she was after. Rylxrya craved items; precious items with invaluable worth that could give her the insight she craved.
"I do not read the future. Rather, I am it's voice and am able to share it's secrets with those who ask of it." Rylxrya cupped her frail hand around the floating orb and stroked it with her dark finger nails. "I can tell you all you wish to know for a price. Offer something of little value, and you get just as much information in return. Show me a treasure and the world is yours."

Zerk's head lifted at the words of the mystic. His cyan eyes practically crinkled in the corners due to the wideness of his grin. "No one in all of Menzoberazzan is as handsome as me. Mother has said so." He informed the female rather pridefully while pulling himself into the seat she had gestured to. His moment of pride faded to the return of the wide eyed awe when he looked upon her crystal ball once more. Behind him, the nanny took up standing imperiously a little to his left behind the chair. The male fixed Rylxyra with his unimpressed crimson gaze.
Zerk's cyan eyes watched the means in which she stroked the ball, and at her words he reached down to begin eagerly twisting a large gold and aquamarine ring from his middle finger. However, his nannies hand laid heavily on his shoulder, giving him pause. "What? She said a little thing of value. My ring is little and it's valuable." Zerk protested up into the dissapproving gaze of the nanny.
"No Prince." He imposed his voice with the 'do not contest me' tone that Zerk had come to absolutly loath. His brows knit in agitation as he dropped his hand to his lap. The nanny reached into his tunic and withdrew a small leather pouch. He removed his hand from Zerk's shoulder and tugged the mouth of the coin purse open. After a moment of prdding within, he drew out a single gold coin and passed it down to Zerk wordlessly.
Zerk however...was not so wordless as he took the coin. "That's it!?" He remarked with a disbelieving note. Zerk shot a ugly look up at his nanny. "That's hardly even enough for a pair of boots!"
"For you perhaps. Not everyone dons dragonskin slippers every morning." The nanny remarked dryly. Zerk twisted up onto his knees on the chair and made a swipeing grasp at the coin purse. The nanny lifted the pouch out of Zerks reach and reached down to grasp the boy by the shoulder.
"Sit down Prince, lest you fall and hurt yourself." The male admonished Zerk. "I am not going to waste good gold on this side show. Now sit and get your entertainment so we can move on."
Zerk's face remained dark and stormy. He clentched his fingers into tight little fists while narrowing his eyes at his nanny while he sat himself back down in the chair properly. His fingers flexed on both hands, and after just a moment longer of a glaring match, Zerk turned his eyes away from the unblinking gaze of his nanny. Seemingly in defeat, Zerk reached his small fist across the table and waited for the seer to hold her palm out in acceptance of her payment. However when Zerk dropped his fingers down, he pressed his palm flat to her own, so as to cover the fact he had managed to wiggle free the ring he had meant to give her from the start. Palming the ring in such a way, he kept his sulky pout of a expression before withdrawing his hand from her own.

Rylxrya smiled charmingly and once the boy had taken his seat she rose to light the candles. They were tall, dark earwhisps with wax fingers that trailed down to the table. She had them placed meticulously around the tent on shelves, trunks, and books for added ambiance. Her jewelry clinked with every movement. "Your mother thinks highly of you." The seeress returned to her seat slowly. Once she was situated she looked up at Zerk's nanny with wide eyes. "You may sit as well. Remove the books from the seat behind you and rest. You bother me." Ryl waved him away to the junk laden chair.
She fixed her crimson eyes back on the youth. In her eyes she held a thousand pasts, presents and futures tangled with the souls of the unknown. Vierace had often said her eyes unnerved him and with good reason. They were the same as her crystal ball. She tried not to let her excitement show when the Prince starting stripping himself of his posessions. It quickly turned to visible disappointment in the form of a not so subtle glare at the attendant. She leaned back in her chair with a sneer at his measly overing. A single gold coin? Did he expect parlor tricks?
"I happen to own two pairs of dragonskin slippers." Rylxrya murmured. Stolen, but what were details worth? She took a deep breath and leaned forward. Instantly the mood changed. Already the powers that be were calling to her, waiting for her signal. When she reached out to accept the pauper's offering she stilled in shock. Cautiously she fingered the ring slightly and withdrew. How precious. This lad had spunk and to defy his elder like that to bring her what she desired was something she would have never dreamed.
Rylxrya slipped it under the folds of her skirt into a small coin purse. Slowly she reached out to cup her ball with both hands before circling it with the tips of her dark nails. The colors bucked beneath her. At first she sat calm and straight, but now her frail form was slightly hunched with her face covered by the hood. "Your future has much darkness to it, Zerk. I can see a man who controls the shadows, seeking out his home. Ah! But your blood knows him already."

Zerk's eyes followed Ryl as she wandered about lighting the candles. His eyes narrowed and squinted against the light. Normally he hated the bright light of flames. His studies were conducted in darkness, and the ink used for his lessons was made of a fungus that glowed, thus eradicating the need for a candle. Of course he would not say anything of the sort to the fortuneteller. When Ryl sat down, Zerk's lips parted in a boyishly prideful grin. "That is because I am special."
Zerk felt a slight squeeze on his shoulder from his nanny, and he glanced up at the stoic and unapproving gaze of the male. Zerk's mood dampened a bit and his lips turned downwards until it was he looked back at Ryl. He wasn't going to let his nanny ruin this for him. He was excited and enjoying himself...in a way that did not leave the servants scurrying for the further reaches of the House. He should have been happy for that! Instead the nanny arched a brow at Ryl's 'suggestion' that he sit..and he ignored it utterly. It was his job to look over the boy, and when they were outside of the House he dared not let his guard relax in the slightest. There were a few others that preceeded him and he did not intend on following their path.
Zerk squirmed in his seat in the next few moments as Ryl accepted his offering and tucked it away. He leaned forwards a little, his eyes falling from her face to the ball before her. What was she seeing? How did the ball tell her things? Zerk's excited expression turned to befuddlement though as she spoke. "What? My blood? Did I..cut him or something?" He asked in confusion. Behind him he head a stifeled laugh coming from his nanny, though he ignored it as he looked up at Ryl.
