It was bound to happen. Majora's Mask is on Virtual Console, and the Metroid Prime trilogy has been released.
True. I think the issue with critics is that they tend to fall head over heals for the over-the-top, movie-esque games and they don't give as much respect to other games that perhaps should.
I agree, look at the DS for example, once Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days came, people looked at the DS differently. It took a strong name that people recognized for them to see "Hey, maybe it's not so bad. Maybe the system may have something great after all." Developers fail to fully utilize a System's full capabilities. They never spend actual time and effort to perfect controls using the Wii motion controls, but when they do (Like Call of Duty: World at War), it really pays off. I found myself more into the game for Wii, than the 360. The motions were clean, and pretty accurate. Even online, it worked flawlessly.
Back to the name point, The Conduit was really good, but no one payed attention to it, because no one recognized it. The soon-to-be Metroid: Other M looks fantastic, and people've taken more noticed to it because Team Ninja's name was planted on it. Not to mention people often look at graphics, rather than Gameplay. As long as the game looks pretty, people'll buy it. The first comment I heard everyone at school say when I showed them the E3 vide for it, was "That's on the Wii? The graphics look like from a PS3 or 360 game!"
But I dunno, it's just my look at it, the people at Yahoo! Plugged in are biased anyway...
