Farm life (Pre trauma) Annabelle watched the sun rise as she was walking towards the barn with her milking stool and bucket. She always loved mornings like this, the cool wind blowing softly, the animals just starting to stir everything wasnt exactly quiet but the real noise had yet to start as well. She reached the barn and opened the door just enough for her tall muscular body to slip in, the barn was warm as the sleepy animals shifted and began to wake. Just like everything else on the farm Annabelle loved it. She found her favorite cow Jessie and sat down to collect the mornings milk. She would come back to milk their other two cows a little later on in the mornings but she always liked to wake up before the family and milk Jessie so that breakfast always had fresh milk. At the breakfast table Annabelles father beamed at his daughter as he ate. "Ah Child you spoil this family with your habits, gettin milk and sometimes even makin the bread! HAH Who wouldn't give to have a child like you Right Hon." Her father gave a loving look to her mother who was sitting across the table. Her mother did not look even a quarter as pleased as her father was, no, she gave Annabelle a stern and tired look as she assessed her dirty shirt and torn pants. "Well if she doesnt even come to the table with presentable clothing I cant see why she deserves such praise." Her mother said seemingly devoid of emotion then went back to eating her breakfast. Annabelles father laughed it off and began to banter with her two older brothers about who would do what chores that day. Annabelle knew that her father always assumed that her mother didnt really mean what she said, how could he know, he was such a simple and sweet man! Bless his soul! She knew he could never imagine that some people were capable of such disgust and hatred, but Annabelle knew what her mother thought of her. She knew she wasnt the prissy and prim daughter she was supposed to have been but she didnt care. She loved her mother she really did and once in a while she gave in and let her hair be combed and wore a dress to please the woman but she loved the farm and her father more and refused to let that part of her be smothered. Annabelle swallowed her last mouthful and stood up to collect the empty plates, her mother already standing at the wash bin taking care of the pans. "father is there anything you need me to do today?" She asked hoping that she wouldnt have to be left in the house with her mother, after such a rocky breakfast she wanted to go train the horses, help weed the crops, or even clean the stables just to get away from that woman for a while. Her father caught her mothers eye and sighed before looking at his one and only daughter. "Now Annie ya know I love you but yer mother thinks I work you too hard. She says ye should keep up on yer sweing and reading before I let you do any of the chores again." Annabelles face fell, her mother had already gotten to her father...damn...but before all her hopes were dashed her father added "But I dont know anyone who deals with those cows quite like you, so you can finish the milking and feed the cows then git to yer housework." Annabelle gave her father such a love filled look that she didnt even care that her mother was glaring at her for being so happy to be doing the duties of a dairy maid. She flew through cleaning and raced to the barn as soon as she could to avoid her mother for as long as possible. She gave Jessie a short pat and a few crooning words before sitting under the next cow and starting to milk. Her hands were so practiced at all of the subtle movements involved that it left her free to think about what her father had said. Her mother thought she was working too hard well that was laughable, after all her mother never even left the house unless it was to market! Her mother had kept her under as tight a reign as possible since she could remember and she couldnt understand why. Her father always gave her the lightest of chores he loved her dearly and let her watch the harder chores and attempt them once in a while so that she knew how to do them but they were never her responsibility. He wanted to keep her happy, innocent, and knowledgeable about her life. Her mother always seemed the opposite! She wanted to keep Annabelle in the house to talk about silly things like who the butcher fancied to marry and why her father wouldnt stop giving to the old widower with the sheep. Annabelle hated when her mother gossiped, she always spoke of everyone they knew as if they were all beneath her and often told stories of her childhood as if she had been raised in the garden of Eden itself! What a woman.... Annabelle milked all three cows expertly and layed down the hay for them to feed, adding a few oats to jessies just because it was her favorite cow. It was one of the few animals on the farm that she could allow herself to love and really ccare about, because as much as she cared for all the rest she knew that they raised some for food. Annabelle slowly walked down towards the house, she knew what waited for her, sewing, gossip, and taking care of her younger brother who was only2 years old. Womanly things that her mother deemed important for a young lady of society. Annabelle could never figure out what society her mother was talking about, around here everyone was equal and happy but that woman swore there was a different place that both women belonged. Annabelle would never go anywhere with her mother she was nothing like her and she would never be like her.

On Our Way (Pre-Trauma) Annabelle sat unhappily at the breakfast table, she stabbed at her breakfast as if she was killing a rather nasty weed. This was not a good morning for her. On the other hand her mother sat happily chatting at anyone who could listen about anything. They were two opposites at the table and both wisely avoided each other. The Heart of Annabelles trouble lay in that this was the morning that she was to leave with her mother to go visit her grandparents. It wasnt that she didnt want to see her grandparents it was that she had to go with her mother and ONLY her mother for three weeks and it was a whole day traveling which didnt count for the trip. Annabelle cast a fristy glance at her mother and then went back to killing her breakfast again. She knew that she was going to have to be prim and proper, listen to her mother...blahblahblah... it was going to be torture. She had fought her mother for weeks about this trip. She didnt want to go, she wanted to stay on the farm and help her father. But no her mother had complained had cried had even threatened to have her drugged and placed in the carriage by force if need be. Annabelle had no idea why it was so important for her to go on this trip, it was just a visit! But her mother was dead set on taking her daughter. Annabelles father had been tortured the whole time, he was stuck in the middle of the two women and he loved both dearly but this time there was no happy ending one would end up mad and one would win. Unfortunately the winner was Annabelles mother. Annabelles mother excused herself from the table and went to get ready, rushing to her room like a youth getting ready to wed. It was disgusting. Annabelle sat at the table and huffed, she knew that eventually she would have to get ready as well, her mother had laid out a new outfit for her, of course it was the height of fashion. A White modest blouse with a black corset and a long white shirt. Annabelle didnt even want to think about what her mother was going to do with her hair. She took a bite of her breakfast and sat there chewing it like a cow chews cud. "Awh Don be so angry at yer mother Annie, she jus wans you ter meet yer Grandpas. It'll be fine." Anabelles father gave her a loving look that said he was sorry and that he loved her all at once. She sighed and stopped looking at him, she couldnt stay mad at him it was too hard, she knew he didnt mean anything bad. "But I don wanna go da PLEASE just tell her I cant go." Annabelle pleaded, but her father shook his head and her two older brothers offered her some reasuring pats. They both felt a bit sorry for her since really no one in the family besides their father could be around their mother for any extended period of time. "Hey Da, give it to her, it might cheer her up." One of her brothers nudged her father as the other spoke. Annabelle was instantly interested. "Give me what?" Annabelles father smiled and began to fuss with his shirt pocket. "Well we, tha is, me and yer brothers knew ye were not gonna be happy about tha trip, so we got cha something nice ter make yer feel better, and of course to remember us while yer gone." Annabelle was completely and totally focused on what her father and brothers were talking about. What could they have possibly gotten her? She knew they had been saving for the past few days and that they had gone to town without her but...was this why?! Her father finally pulled out a long thin silver chain out of his pocket and dangled it in front of Annabelle. She was completely and totally stunned. It was a rather long silver chain with a large oval thumb sized pendant hanging from it. No it wasnt a pendant it was a locket! They had gotten her a LOCKET! A REAL SILVER ONE! Annabelle felt tears well up in her eyes as she stared at it. It was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen! Her father and brothers seemed pleased with ehr reactions and so the eldest brother took the locket and placed it around her neck. When put on the locket itself rested between her breasts, she slowly moved her hands untill they held the silver locket in her hands. "Go on sis open it" One of her brothers said, she opened it and found that inside was some sunflower seeds. Annabelle LOVED sunflowers they were her favorite flower since she was a child and because of that her father had always made sure to have a patch of them near the house. She closed the locket delicately and looked up at her father and brothers who were now smiling from ear to ear. "Yup those'er from the sunflowers ye always grow Annie, we wanted to make sure ye took a part of the farm with ye on yer trip so ye cant miss us so much."Annabelle finally lost control and jumped out of her seat and onto her father and brothers. "I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU!!" She practically screamed at them and she kissed them and hugged then and wrestled good naturedly with her brothers. She was so happy that they had done something so nice for her. They must have saved all of their spending moey and sold a chicken to get this! She didnt even want to ask how they could afford it because she just didnt want to know what they sacrificed to get this for her! Her father stood up and swept her off her feet in one giant bear hug. "Now go git ready before yer mother comes a calling! and SMILE!" Her father gave a large and ridiculously forced smile that made Annabelle and her brothers laugh till it hurt. Annabelle was feeling a little better about the trip now that she could take a bit of the farm with her and knowing that her father and brothers loved her this much. She hurried off to get dressed, not even caring when her mother fussed with her hair for hours then compleined about how they were going to be late. Both women left the house as the boys cat called good naturedly and yelled their goodbyes as the women got into the carriage. The traveling was rather boring and uneventfull. Most of it was rushed and about halfway into it Annabelle just wished that they would get there already. On the last stretch Annabelles mother took Annabelles arm and gave her a stern look. "Ok missy I want to tell you something." Annabelle looked up, her mothers tone was strange almost commanding and it piqued Annabelles interest. "I know you dont want to be on this trip, dont think I dont but I tell you what, if you at least ACT civilized and with class while you are here with me and my family I will never force you to leave the farm again. How does that sound, I wont bother you about your looks, I wont bother you about your speech, I wont say anything you can be who you want as far as i caare, you just have to behave while your here." Annabelle was shocked, that was it she just had to be her mothers perfect daughter for these three weeks and then she would be left alone for the rest of her life, it seemed a fair trade. She leaned back and sat with her back ramrod straight and a casual smile on her face. "Ok mother, I accept your terms." She said in her sweetest voice. Her mother looked pleased and leaned back in her seat. "I'm glad you see it my way Annabelle, dont worry after this you'll have been exposed to enough society to make this permanent." Annabelle didnt like how smug her mother sounded but she didnt show it. She would do this right and she would beat her mother, then she would be free for the rest of her life.

It Didn't Have To Be This Way (Trauma) The visit itself seemed nice enough, Annabelle was living in her grandparents lavish house, with its lavish and manicured gardens and there was a party in someones honor every night in the parlor or grand hall. It was a rather ridiculous and well tiring lifestyle. Annabelle could not understand how people chose to live like this, sure the first week was ok even fun because there was so much to do, but to do it forever just seemed...unproductive. Annabelle hated how much down time there was in this place. But she couldnt complain, she had to sit pretty like the good little ornament that she was. She would hold her mother to their deal and give her ABSOLUTELY NO reason to say that She didnt do everything in her power to be perfect. The only fun she had been having lately was with the servants. During the day no one was around, everyone was sleeping off the night before or just dozing about in the garden like ditsy sculptures. She had tried numerous times to have an intelligent conversation about anything with others her age that visited or stayed the night. But the girls all seemed obsessed with weddings and who they would marry and the boys...wel they were obsessed with who was wooing who and how to read poetry the best to get...well to get rewards. It was disgusting. But the servants were just like her and a few of them could read and took advantage of the library in the house. Annabelle rather liked her grandparents and how they treated their servants. They even paid them fairly well which was something she had not expected. So the servants were always up for a good discussion and a few times Annabelle had managed to sneak away to their quarters (another house close by) and danced the night away with them in an impromptu party. It was the best night she had here! The dances had been just like the ones at home, line dances, fast and fun dances, all kinds of things she knew. It was great! Way better than the slow waltzes that the so called "upper class" did when she was in the parlor. Those were not fun. But had only been for one night, the servants were good people they knew they had jobs and just like her they were up at dawn. She uaually helped a the kitchen maids and cooks when she woke up in the morning since they woke up at the same time and no one else in the house would wake for at least 4 more hours. Oh how lazy the rich were. Annabelle refused to think less of them because she had found that she rather liked her grandparents so she decided to just make sure that she wasnt lazy. She always did the best with her time and since she always had so much free time, the parties started when the sun began to set and she did her best to avoid the love hungry air heads she found herself in the library more often than not. She would sit and read books since reading was one of the few ways that wasting time was acceptable. Reading allowed her to learn and so it was a good waste of time. She even took to teaching a few of the servants she came to like how to read if they couldnt. It was a rather interesting way to pass the time. Once her grandfather caught her in the Library teaching one of the younger servants how to read and both of them thought they were in trouble. But all that the Grandfather did was congradulate the boy on his studies and give Annabelle a wink and a happy nod. He was such a sweet man! He always told the best stories and Annabelle always hovered within hearing range of her grandfather in case he began to tell a story about his youth or just a story in itself! Everyone always loved them and she wanted to make sure she didnt miss a single one. She did have to admit it was a feat to hover around her grandfather and avoid the oggling bachelors. Apperently the old rich men wanted to marry young girls and she was on the market! The young ones were not much better and so she had to keep turning them down and looking for groups of girls to lose them in. It was so tiring! Finally the last night came and with it one last party. Annabelle couldnt wait to get back to the farm! Every night she had pulled out the locket to look at the seeds and remember her father and brothers. Oh how she missed them and couldnt wait to tell them how ridiculous the rich people were. She had hardly seen her mother the whole time which was a relief and a curiosity. She had thought that her mother would be watching her with hawk eyes to make sure she was keeping her end of the deal but her mother was always away or talking with her grandparents. It was such an oddity! But the final night came and with it the last morning of helping the cooks and maids. She did her work with gusto and the cooks even made her a special (and quiet) breakfast party for her and the servants to say thank you and good bye. It was all nice and she was happy to have made so many friends! She spent the whole day with them adn then got ready for the last party. She had made a promise to herself to make the best of this last party since she would never have to do it again it was such a freeing feeling. She felt like a caged bird being set free! The party went on as usual and Annabelle did manage to have fun and even flirt with a few guys (knowing she was leaving the next morning made her bold) but as it started to wind down her mother pulled Annabelle towards her Grandparents and a group of people she didnt quite know. Her mother introduced her and informed her that this group was all family and that she had an announcement. Annabelle moved away from her mother and stood between her grandparents for comfort. Her mother moved towards the middle of the group and pulled Annabelle away from her grandparents to be the center. "I would like to inform you all that my dearest daughter was just accepted at Jaradin! And that she will be leaving for the new school year tomorrow! Thank you for all the gifts and encouragement she is very honored and excited that her life is finally evolving and blossoming the way we always imagined."Everyone closed in on Annabelle to offer congradulations and boast about how much they helped. Annabelle herself was completely and totally shocked. Jaradin? She had heard that name on the lips of the bobble headed boys, it was a school...a boarding school! What had her mother done, what had she done! What was GOING ON!! She was confused she was scared and lucky for her everyone took it as happy tears when she felt the wetness start to roll down her cheeks. Everyone knew she was intelligent since she had managed to get some conversations in with the adults and it was no surprise that she was going to school, for them it was the logical thing to do! The whole crowd insisted that she go and rest up for her trip tomorrow. The school wasnt more than half a day away from the house with a good horse! Annabelle was lead to her room by her mother and once the two of them were alone Annabelle gave her mother a glare that would have killed anyone with a weaker will. "Dont look at me like that Annabelle" Her mother scolded. "What did you do mother?! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!" Annabelle screamed in rage at her mother. "You have ripped me from my home, from DAD from EVERYTHING I LOVE! How could you DO this to me?! You said that if I was good for these three weeks you would leave me ALONE!" Annabelles mother gave her daughter a condescending look as she spoke. "I got you into one of the most prestigous schools, where you will meet the cream of the crop, you WILL be a lady GODDAMNIT! you are NOT a farm girl, i did you a FAVOR!" Annabelle balled her fists in rage and stood up her whole body shaking. Annabelles mother crossed the room in long quick strides, when she reached her daughter she slapped her across the face without warning. The force of the slap made Annabelle take a step to the side to keep her balance and left her face stinging. She turned to look at her mother, her tear stained face full of a mixture of fear and anger. "I never said you would only have to be a lady for three weeks, I said you would have to be a lady as long as you were here, your time is not done yet young woman and I am your mother. Untill you marry I decide what you do." Annabelles mother pushed Annabelle back onto the bed in a sitting position and leaned in close to add in a hissing whisper "you are MY daughter and you will become what I want you to be. Got it. I am going to go outside and tell everyone how happy you are to be going to school, and you better not show them anything else or you WILL pay for it in ways you arent yet able to imagine." Annabelles mother then swept out of the room, all evidence of the fight washed from her face. Annabelle watched in stunned disbelief as her mother swept from the room. She had always known that her mother thought ledd of honest farm people, always seen how her mother assumed she was of a higher class. But to do this. To force her daughter to be like her?! Annabelle could not believe how the woman had tricked and betrayed her. She couldnt hold it in any longer Annabelle rolled over onto her bed and began to cry. She let her sadness and hurt pour out of her in the only way she was allowed. She felt her world topple with every cough and tear. Her father her brothers, what would happen to them. Was her mother even going home?! Or did her mother plan to never go back to the farm and keep her here a prisoner?! maybe her mother planned on marrying her off and trapping her here with one of those men. She had been played like a piano and hadnt even known! She should have NEVER come on this trip! She scrambled clumsily to grab the locket against her chest and hugged it tightly, she would never see her loved ones again, those seeds were the last thing she had to tie them together. She hugged the locket and suddenly began to hear a voice. Dont worry love, it isnt as bad as you think, your smart maybe you'll like schoolAnnabelle looked around but couldnt find a source for the sound. The voice seemed to be coming from her. She guessed that her mind had just created something to convince her of good things, so she went with it, anything to make her feel better. "But why, why would she do this to me, my own mother just rippedmy life apart, I have no one left." Annabelle cried and once again just dissolved into tears. In her mind her mother wasnt even family anymore, family wouldnt do this. Its ok, like I said maybe you'll like school, its full of smart people. Your mother is just...disillusioned. She wants you to be rich, you know she thinks its better, it isnt right what she's done but dont hate her. You are never alone, you will always have me.Annabelle felt a warmth touch her but dissolve almost right away. It was comforting and she hugged a pillow pretending it was whatever the voice was. She felt a little less alone now and was finally able to fall asleep.

You Have Her Eyes...(Post Trauma) Annabelle sat in the carriage moving farther and farther away from everything she knew and towards the dark abyss of her future. She had been quiet all morning, she played the part her mother had assigned, she had smiled politely when asked about how she felt going to school for the first time and had even managed to make up something nice. What it was she couldnt remember. She realised now sitting alone in the carriage that somewhere between yesterday and today she had developed a rather crippling fear of her mother. That woman had struck her, tore away her life, and forced her into a mold that she had done her best to resist. Yet here she was, nothing had worked, she was so helpless. She felt like a wild bird that had once loved its life and flew where it pleased only to be caught and left as an ornament in some parlor. She would never be free of her mother. Dont think like that Annabelle...There it was! That voice again! Annabelle looked around the carriage and even checked out the windows, but nothing was there. She had originally thought that the voice had been her fathers memory come to calm her and show her love again. But instead of only being there for the night it had persisted and continued to give her comfort since...well since it arrived! Granted the comfort was apreciated and often it did have some good advise but she was a little worried that she was hearing things. She relaxed once again in the small box of a carriage but sat bolt upright when she saw a fuzzy mass of something sitting opposite her. It only lasted for a moment but it had been something real, something animalistic?! She pressed herself up against the wall behind her and wonered if they would tell her mother if she jumped out and ran away...come to think of it that would be a good idea, she might even break her neck if she planned it right, then all her troubles would be over. Oh come now, your just being ridiculous. You'll like school and you know it.This time when the voice spoke she saw the swirling mass of, well of animals again. Ah so the voice and the animals were related....great now she KNEW she was crazy! But sadly this phantom had a point, once when she was with her grandparents her grandfather had talked abut sending her to school. At the time she thought he was just being nice but now she knew he was also a pawn being manipulated by her mother. But he had told her about school and how you learn and study and she had loved the idea of being with other people who were like her, smart and driven to learn. It was just now that she was being forced to go she didnt want to be there! If only it had been someone esles idea, if only they had just ASKED her instead of thrust it upon her, she would have accepted and been able to feel true happiness about it. But they hadnt and so she had started off on a bad foot, she despised this school simply because it was the prison that her mother had sent her to. You know you cant hate her forever, she is your mother and therefore a part of you.Annabelle glared at the fuzzy spot as it spoke but suddenly her eyes opened wide aas she felt fear blossoming in her chest. When she had looked at the glowing mass she had seen a small bird but it had dissolved into two glowing amber eyes that bore into her soul before dissolving completely. "What was that?! And for GOD SAKES what the HELL are you?! Am I crazy? just tell me I'm crazy so I can go to an asylum and never again bother anyone!" She half yelled half ranted at the place where the fuzzy spot and feline eyes once were. She felt a sense of anxiety and some kind of calm come over her. I'm your Daemon, and sadly child your not crazy so I'm afraid to school we go.Annabelle stared dumbly at the fuzzy spot again, this time it seemed happy enough to just flash animals too fast for her to recognize before once again fading. "A Daemon....I have a daemon....but how....I thought...." Annabelle let her thoughts trail off into the far reaches of her mind. She had read about daemons, a few of the scholars who wrote the books she read about far off lands had daemons or came across others who had them. They were supposed to be a part of your soul or something like that. She had never really looked into the subject, she always assumed since she didnt have one by now that she would never have one...well she was obviously wrong about that. She llet her palms cup her face and slapped herself lightly a few times. Well she had a daemon...wait. "If your my daemon, why did you show me those eyes?" She knew suddenly why she had been so afraid of those eyes "My mothers eyes..."Because they are a part of you. I cant take the form of something that isnt a major part of your life AnnieThis time as the voice used her fathers pet name for her she saw a large fuzzy thing appear, it was a bear...no a dog....was it both? But she felt comforted by its presence and was almost sad to see it dissipate to nothing. Annabelle understood a little more now, whether she wanted it or not she had been influenced by her mother and father her whole life so they were both part of her, and her daemon. No her mother would not be a part of her. Annabelle closed her eyes and tried her best to come into complete coherent contact with the voice. "Ok...uh...Daemon, NEVER take the form with my mothers eyes again. I refuse to let her this far into my life, she has taken too much i wont let her take you too, you are NOT her pawn." Annabelle thought feirce and commanding thoughts trying to will the eyes away from her, but she could feel her daemon laughing at her, it wasnt really a sound but a feeling. Annabelle I have a name and you know it, you cant will your mother away from you like that, if you never want me to take that form again then embrace it as your own. I didnt take anything from her, I havent been apart of your mother since you were in the womb. What I am is you, if you give that form the power your mother has then it will consume you and you will be what she wants. You cant pick and choose what I become, I am you and you are me whatever that is. Whats my name?Annabelle didnt want what her Daemon said to be true, no she had SEEN her mother in it, it was a lie, somehow her mother had managed to take control of this part of her as well. It HAD to be, that wasnt her she WOULDNT BE LIKE HER MOTHER!! But the way the Daemon concluded his...well speech seemed to make everything a riddle. What was his name. wait "his" when did she realise it was a he? How did she know it wasnt a girl...well no she could feel the masculine energy coming from it, she knew his name...? She tried to think tried to remember if she had ever heard something that seemed like a name for him but she was trying too hard and becoming frustrated. "I dont know your name! If you are me and I am you or whatever you said then your name is Annabelle!" She said with a huff. Again she felt the laughter but this time it was not very apreciated on her end. Just relax Annabelle, relax and think of meAnnabelle closed her eyes in a huff and tried to do as he said "fine I'll relax, but not cause you want me to, cause I want to....." she murmured as she kept her eyes closed, she wasnt sure she liked having a daemon. But as she simmered down and opened her mind sounds came to her tounge. She tried gathering them in her mind but they slipped away so easily so instead she tried just saying them as they came "Iña.....ki.......ardo......Iñakiardo! Thats your name?!" She managed to say with conviction and question. It sounded so exotic, she had never heard of anything like that but she felt his approval. Yes that is what you will call me Annabelle Annabelle opened her eyes to try and catch the fuzzy spot but it had already dissolved. She bit her lower lip and then spoke up again. "Hey, whats with calling me Annabelle?"Well...it is your name isnt it?"Well yeah its my name but its so formal, you call me Annie, and I'm going to call you Iñaki, cause your names too long too." Annabelle relaxed on her side of the carriage and smiled smugly to herself when she felt Iñaki shuffle around awkwardly in her mind. Er...well but my name is so regal...Iñaki tried to argue, she could tell he liked his full name but she would have none of it, it was too long and if she ever needed him could you imagine yelling Iñakiardo into a crowd? People would think she was insane for naming him that. "Nope your Iñaki, no arguments." Annabelle was a stubborn one and so there was no way out. Iñaki could feel it and so he settled into her mind with e huff, what had he gotten himself into. Fine Annie.....were almost to the school. He added that last part as more of an insult but Annabelle knew it, being mind liked work well like that so she took it with grace and decided she would nap the rest of the way. Maybe having one of these Daemons wasnt so bad, but she had to admit she was curious about the animal shapes. Once they got settled she would try and figure out exactly what she had to deal with, maybe it would let her figure out what kind of a person she was. After all Daemons were supposed to be great for personal reflection....she just hoped she wasnt like her mother.....

Detecting the influence (Animal Entry #1) Annabelle sat under a tree in the college courtyard while Iñaki did his best to be visible to her. They had just spent hours in the library pouring over books and pictures and all manner of articles to figure out just what exactly he was. Annabelle had managed to compile a list of the forms that Iñaki could take. Grizzly Bear, Red deer, a big Shepherd dog, a kangaroo rat, and a barn swallow. She still refused to acknowledge his cheetah form because she was sure it was her mothers daemon not her own and refused to even let him take it if possible. But of course that was impossible and since she was always so preoccupied with thinking about how to avoid the form he kept turning into it since it was the only thing on her mind. That in itself had led to many frustrating hours in the library as well. But now there they were. With a full list and trying to figure out why she had these animals as her Daemon. "So each of your forms is supposed to be a part of me and reflect my personality....right?" She asked Iñaki suspiciously. Iñaki bobbed his head as a Shepherd dog then whiped himself into the small kangaroo rat form and hopped over to her turning into a swallow before he quite made it to her knee and flying off to stand in the distance as a regal and proud red deer. He then Lumbered over as a Bear and rubbed up against her knee as a cheetah. Annabelle had seemed fine with the show of forms up until the cheetah as he had suspected and so reverted back to the swallow shape and perched on her knee to settle. Thats right, ALL of my forms are a part of you he made sure to emphasize the word all not just to mock her but because he really wanted to teach her. No matter how much you might not like one of them.Annabelle grumbled at Iñaki and the way he wanted to make sure she accepted the cheetah shape, she would never accept the face she had come to associate with her mother it just wasnt done. She was too stubborn and she would not budge on that. "Come on Iñaki stop fooling around! We are gonna think about this, cause from what I hear eventually your gonna settle and I wanna figure out what your gonna settle into." One of the things she had read in the Library was that Daemons eventually settled and revealed the true form of the person that they were attached too. There was also something about learning to use magic and other stuff but she cared little about magic. If it didnt get the chores done it wasnt important. She sat and thought about Iñaki's forms. "Well I can see the bear, thats easy, its my pa! All the lessons he taught me, how to be gruff and get your way, but also to be kind when needed and to love your family. Thats why you got that form." Annabelle knew she could be bear liike in many ways, she was always caring for her younger sibling and fostering animals on the ranch. She loved to be a mother and one day when she was done with this school she would have her own farm and family and she would be a great mother, much better than the one she had. Iñaki was interested in what Annie was saying, he himself was still so much a part of her that he understood what she meant immediately but he was beggining to think for his own and to compliment her so he still liked it that she explained things to him. He suddenly got an idea. Are there any other shapes that you relate to a family member....?Annabelle gave Iñaki the meanest look she could muster. She knew where he was going with this and she sighed. Since they were on the subject there would be no way to avoid it. "ok ok FINE that cheetah shape is my mother and I guess I can be a little like her...catty.....vain .....impulsive....crafty...lazy.....happy now?!" Annabelle glared at the satisfied Iñaki and thought about it. As much as she hated to admit it she could be like her mother, but she still refused to end up like her, hence why she only focused on the bad traits the cheetah embodied. But what about the other shapes? Her mother and father had been strong influences in her life so she completely understood that they would have a stake in her personality, people always grew up to be just like their parents, that was normal. But she had four other shapes in there that werent like her parents at all. Were those her own shapes? Could she grow up a completely different person than both her parents?! It was an exciting prospect, Annabelle loved her father but he was a man and a gruff one so she couldnt really see herself growing up to be like him just like she couldnt see herself turning into her mother. No she would be herself and find out who she really was! Iñaki could sense Annies excitement and he flew into the air as a bird before landing as the graceful deer and prancing about, then returning to his Shepherd dog form and finally perching on her palm as a mouse. This was going to be a fun adventure to figure out what Annabelle and in essence he was going to turn into.

My fur? My wings? (Animal entry #2) Iñaki circled Annie as they walked. He was in mostly dog form and he was making a game of running ahead of her then cutting across without hitting her legs but as close as possible, then falling behind and cutting behind her. He would repeat this continually and since he was still mostly transparent when he miscalculated and hit her leg Annie just walked through him and usually gave a gasp of surprise. It was a strange feeling to kick your daemon on accident. Iñaki however was having a great time at this game and once in a while, when he felt brave enough he would dart in-between her legs as a mouse or a bird and as small as he possibly could be. It was a great game and it kept him occupied since he found walking around campus to be boring unless something was happening. Annie half watched what Iñaki was doing and smiled as she rolled her eyes at him. She had gotten tired of wandering around in the library and staying in her room was out of the question. She did always have alot of energy, but unlike Iñaki she was able to find less adrenaline pumping things to spend it on, hence the walk. She had always been so used to waking up at dawn and having a days worth of chores to do, so here at school she was so....under worked! She missed having a job to do and having something to expend all of her energy on. As things stood now she mostly spent her time walking around campus playing small games with Iñaki and exploring the library. She still loved reading because it was a useful pass time but there was only so long she could sit in a chair and read until she itched to move. She wouldnt show it but ever since Iñaki had started to play his game of darting around her legs as she walked she enjoyed walking around alot more. It was kind of fun to watch him measure the distance and do his best to not get kicked or squished. No serious harm had ever come to both of them and since she could sense when he would move she liked to let him "win" his games. But sometimes when she felt mean she would make it difficult for him and switch her pace to go faster or slower suddenly. She had begun to notice that Iñaki favored some of his shapes more than others. For example he almost always used his dog, bird, and deer form while the others she saw less frequently. She was half glad of this since the cheetah form was one she had hoped was not too dominant but she was sorry to not see the bear form more often. She was starting to understand Iñaki alot better and looking forward to classes and learning more about how they were connected. Annie could see how these forms would be prominent, she was a hard worker and liked to be as efficient as possible which she thought was represented in the barn swallow. From what she had learned in the library these birds did everything on the wing! They caught and ate bugs in the air they even bathed by skimming over water instead of sitting in it like other birds. The only time they rested was when they slept or built their nests. She liked these birds and when she had looked them up she had smiled because such a small bird seemed so much more efficient than some of the larger and more intimidating birds. That brought her to Iñaki's favorite shape, the Alsation or German Shepherd. He seemed to take the form of a rather shaggy one at that. But it featured his playful and hyper nature as well as his love for having a task to do. Annie could see herself in his form. She loved having a job to do and loved to learn new things while doing it. She had often asked her father to give her new tasks so that she could learn a new skill. They used to have a few of these large happy looking dogs on the farm that were working members of the family, she remembered her father saying that the shepherds werent the best trackers, werent the best protectors, and they werent the best herders but there was no dog that could do all three of those things at once better. She hadnt understood what he meant at first but now she knew. Because like her there were others that were better at any one thing. But she was a sort of jack of all trades when it came to farming and so no one could do everything like she could. That was why she assumed Iñaki took the form of that herding dog because she loved to have a job and to do her best at everything she did and learned. Lastly there was the shape of the deer. It was a large stag and he tended to use this shape when he wanted to be alone or left to think. She did love this shape, Iñaki was so beautiful and proud when he took that shape. Annie always smiled because she could imagine doing her laundry and hanging clothes to dry on his large antlers. But she would never tell Iñaki she knew he wouldnt like that. However when she looked up the Red deer she found that they were shy and proud, with a slow anger that no one would want to be a part of. She could easily see herself in this she was also slow to anger with fierce results. She could also be very proud and knew that she had gotten that from her mother. She always held herself tall and with enough self respect for a whole family. She knew who she was and would never change. She could also be shy, but it didnt happen often and deer were only shy in season then social other times. This she could relate to, sometimes she wanted to be alone and sometimes she wanted to be with people, she had to have moderation. The mouse shape she didnt see too often but thought that it deserved some though too afterall it was one of his shapes even if it wasnt dominant. The kangaroo mouse was also an efficient and quick witted creature. She had read that these mice never needed to drink water, they lived in the desert but were so specialized that they could gather water from the seeds they ate. They were also quick and smart, always knowing where to find food and doing their best to avoid their many predators. She admired the small mouse and could see her own shyness and quiet nature in it. Like the mouse she always did her best to be efficient in everything she did and secretly she was a rather shy and quiet girl, but she liked to put on a front of playfull happiness. Annie watched Iñaki once again dart around her and smiled more broadly. She was growing rather fond of her Daemon and even though he had only been around for a short time she already couldnt imagine her life without him.

Facing The Facts (Animal Entry #3) Annabelle sat in her room staring crossly at Iñaki who was lounging on the floor in a mostly cheetah form. She hated when he took that form it reminded her of her mother and therefore it was bad. She bristled when Iñaki began to clean himself and seemed perfectly at home in that offensive form. "Iñaki can you PLEASE Take a different shape? I know you can control it." She added that last part stubbornly because she knew that he could take any form he wanted so why did he INSIST on taking the form that bothered her the most! Iñaki turned his feline head as far back as he could to get a better view of Annie. He looked at her and his eyes portrayed his annoyance and tiredness. Yes it was true he could control what forms he took but that required effort! He usually just let his body take the form that reflected Annie since that took alot less out of him and he was supposed to be figuring out what Annie was going to eventually have as a companion anyway. He could feel her curiosity and so he was only too happy to just take whatever form she reflected and note which forms were most common. Unfortunately she was always so cross at him for taking the cheetah shape. Annie calm down I'm only taking the shape that reflects you, if your doing something you dont like then stop doing it and I'll change.Annie looked at Iñaki and gave an angry sigh, she was NOT like her mother! She had to figure out what she had been doing that made him take that shape and never do it again! She mentally went through what she had been doing. She had been planning out some things and had noticed Iñaki bustling around as a barn swallow, then she had started cleaning and lost sight of the daemon...then she had sat on her bed and looked out the window to relax, she had been daydreaming oh is had been so nice and relaxing...then the next thing she knew she looked over at Iñaki and he was a cheetah! So then she could never relax again?! That was impossible she loved her lazy moments even though she kept them few and far between. It must have been her daydream, Annie laboriously tried to remember what she had been imagining. Iñaki rolled over onto his back and felt himself becoming more birdlike as Annie began to work harder and harder. His companion was being so silly! When he was properly bird shaped and small he hopped up onto Annies knee and twitched as he looked at her. I dont know why you relate the cheetah shape to your mother....isnt it possible that it isnt her?Iñaki spoke to Annie jarring her out of her thoughts. She stared at him open mouthed, her mind thinking rapidly for an answer. "Well..... because...... I mean obviously......" Annie found herself at a loss for words. She knew deep down why she related the cheetah to her mother but she didnt want to say it. She knew it was a dumb reason but she was stubborn and hanging onto such a reason seemed perfectly plausible to her. But here was Iñaki sitting on her knee and watching her with curiosity. She felt silly having to explain herself to her daemon but she also felt like she had to. "Well because it LOOKS like her!" Annie finaly replied stubbornly. "Its got those wide eyes and its all regal and pretty. It always lounges around and just looks so proud!: Her mother had always carried herself with such grace and beauty that Annie had always been glad she had inherited that. Her mother was a beautiful woman she really was an proud and graceful to. Her mother could be kind and cruel within minutes and often her moods were the same way, changing rapidly like the wind. Her mother hadnt been lazy she just did the work nessesary and nothing more prefering to relax. Her mother always did like to relax near a window and stare off into the distance or read a book in the soft light of the morning and Annie had always admired her mothers silhouette in the sunlight. She had always wished she could look so beautiful, and it wasnt that her mother was a Gorgeous woman it was just the way she held herself, with confidence, as if your opinion of her didnt matter, that made her beautiful. Annabelle could feel Iñaki reading her thoughts and half laughed at his surprise seeing her memories. Annie had been sure to only focus on the bad of her mother since he had manifested and that was all he had seen. But to see Annies mother in such a light was a completely new experience. Annie gave an unhappy laugh. "My mother betrayed me I dont want anything to remind me of her." She stated clearly to him but to her surprise he didnt argue and sensing her need for a cuddle became the large shaggy Alsation and nuzzled what parts of her he could since he was still transparent. I know she betrayed you and I'm not asking for you to forgive her but maybe you did inherit some things from her, couldnt you look at it like this, that you took the best of her and avoided the worst?Annie wished that Iñaki was m ore settled so she could properly touch and hug him. But what he said made something click in her mind. Maybe she could look at things that way, it wouldnt be her mother that she was becoming but herself a better, nicer, version of her mother. She was melding both her parents and taking the best they had to offer her. She smiled and Iñaki felt the Alsation shape settle in naturally. Annie could look past the betrayal and just look for what she was now. They both smiled and were half glad that this had happened. Annie then unexpectedly stuck her tounge out at Iñaki and said "Ok fine I'll not care so much about you taking that form but I refuse to like my mother."Iñaki laughed. Your so silly Annie and he was happy.

Oh so NOW I can touch you... Annabelle woke up slowly on this particular morning, her eyes were still heavy with sleep but she wanted them open. They obliged but only half way and so she was left starting at the ceiling which remained fuzzy as her eyes refused to focus. Her dream was still vivid and every time she closed her eyes she could still see it, she had been alone in the grass with Iñaki but it had been strange. He seemed confused and in pain with all of his shapes. It was as if some of them didn't fit anymore. She had been so scared as Iñaki had writhed in pain right in front of her, but she hadnt been able to comfort him, how could she? He was still a mist and in such an agitated state she had to focus just to keep him in sight. He then had begin to shed some of the shapes he could once take like a snake sheds its skin. He would almost take the shape then burst from it the skin settling around him like a dark mist, staining the grass for a few seconds before dissapearing. It was a maddening experience but as he shed his skins he seemed to get more of a substance but at this point in the dream she was afraid to touch him he was writhing more viciously. At this point it was almost as if each shape was fighting for power. The mouse had been the first to be shed as well as the deer. Those seemed to be the most peacefull of the shapes while the cheetah, Alsation, and Grizzly Bear fought for control of poor Iñaki. Each almost forcing itself upon him and causing him to writhe. Finally he bear was shed and only the dog and cat remained.
Annabelle wanted so badly to take Iñaki away from his pain to hold him and to tell him it would be ok but she could only look on in fear and agony as his forms fought for control. She had never thought herself a strong person, nor even desirable, and so she had no idea what to do, these forms seeming to fight to be her daemon! Iñaki Made a noise that was somewhere between a growl and a whine and finally the last form was shed. Annabelle hadnt been able to see it and when she looked all that was left in the grass was the dark stain. She could find no sign of Iñaki and so she began to frantically call for him and had ended up caressing the stain on the grass her tears preventing it from dissolving away like the others.
Anabelle remembered the end of her dream with a start and began to look around for her daemon. He usually slept near her in one form or another, but she suddenly realized that she couldn't see him anywhere. "Iñaki?! Iñaki where are you?!" Annabelle said in a half whisper as if she didnt want the answer. She was afraid that her dream had been real, that she had lost him forever. Was he mad at her?! She couldnt remember and she was afraid. Suddenly a large something jumped on her and she was pinned down by a warm something. Annabelle squealed and tried to roll over but was suddenly tangled in her blankets and still under the big warm thing! She began to struggle thinking it was a wild animal come to kill her, maybe it had already killed Iñaki!! She was about to scream for help when a familiar voice stopped her. Annie stop moving or I'm gonna fall!Annabelle stopped moving and felt the large warm body roll over onto her side. She immediately pulled the covers off her face and stared down at a huge practically solid and warm Cheetah sitting on her bed. "Iñaki?....is....is that you?!" She said too surprised by the appearance of the big cat to do much else except for stare. Of course it's me, who else would it be?! Iñaki said as if there was nodifference in his appearance, he was playing it off but secretly bubbling with excitement about being able to settle and touch his Annie. Annabelle ran a hand over his soft fur "But I can touch you now?....you settled?!" Annabelle let out an excited squee and hugged her big cheetah boy as he did his best to escape her. She was so excited, now he could actually physically be there for her, he had come such a long way from being a voice in the back of her mind to being a big furry thing...big....furry...wait....he was a cheetah, she immediately did a 180 and threw him as far away from her as she could, which granted his new size wasnt too far. "Your a cheetah...a CHEETAH!"Iñakihad done his best to get away from her bone crushing hugs, it was all he could do to stay alive, well the physical world had some fun things about it thats for sure. Suddenly he was dropped and annabelle screamed accusingly at him. Well I'm YOUR daemon so its not like I had a choice He stuck his tounge out at her Besides I kinda like it He was immediately knocked aside by a pillow. Annabelle held the pillow as if she was going to strike him again but in the end decided against it, he was her daemon and there prabably wasnt anything he could do about his form......at the very least she didnt think he could go back....well she was stuck with a cheetah.....at least it was fuzzy....
