hi, in german there is a new mission at the blogs of ecological interessted people. it ist called "einkaufskorb". this means shopping basket and thats what it is about. everyone creates a new category called so. and every time you shopped food you make a photo of your shopping and tell where your shoppings are from. with every shopping you should try to get food that is local. and you will see, with every shpooing tour you will think more about it. after some time you can see how local you have buyed your food. you also can add how much you paid.
i hope i explained it a way everyone understands it. really hard to say some simpel sentences in english some times sweatdrop if there are questions just ask, maybe i have to find other words ...
greetz gwen
act local - think global !!

I prefer to buy local. I think it is good to support the local economy. They are suffering and losing out if we support the bigger companies.

lots of farms are putting an end to their farmers markets...it's sad. i used to have 1 only like a mile away...but they shut down last year. now all they do is corn & soybeans on rotation for ethanol..

I usually just end up shopping in grocery stores that offer a section of local produce. Like Karns does.

I would love it if food stamps was accepted at the markets. I love to go to Oak Grove and do their Pick your own strawberries. I just love going there period!
