"Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to another amazing edition of Monday Night RAW! I'm JR, here next to Jerry "The King" Lawler. And tonight, we have a very special treat, the night after Wrestlemania."

The screen on the Titantron cut to the lead interviewer, who stood in a discreet hallway backstage. He held the black microphone in his hand and smiled to the camera before beginning.

"Well, as many of us saw last night, John Cena prevailed against The Animal, Batista, for the WWE Championship. Unfortunately, he suffered a very serious injury in his neck, which will require surgery, and he will be out for a few months at least. Also unfortunate for Cena, this marks the record for the shortest time a superstar has held a championship, as he has been forced to vacate the title earlier today. I've been told, however, that we will have yet another Championship match tonight, for the Vacated title. So far, only one superstar has been announced. And that superstar is none other than The Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels!"

The camera zoomed out, showing Shawn standing next to the interviewer. He grabbed the mic for himself and looking dead on into the camera. His hair was pulled back into his trademark high ponytail, with the lower layers still draping over his shoulders.

"First of all, i want to congratulate John Cena on his championship win last night. Secondly, I hope he pulls through on his surgery. God knows i've had many of them, and they're never fun, especially after such a sacrifice as he made last night for winning his match. With that being said, I know a lot of people have heard rumors of my retirement coming soon. And i have to say, it just may be looking that way...However, i can ASSURE you that i will NOT be leaving this business until I've had that title around my waist at least one...more...time. So throw whoever you want at me, I'll win, and I'll become the champion that John Cena would have been, had his reign not been so short-lived."

With that, he dropped the microphone and walked off, leaving the interviewer on his own...

"What a turn of events!" JR Yelled into his headset. "The Showstopper, the number one contender, has a shot at the coveted WWE Title, against an opponent yet to be announced. And that match is tonight!"

Suddenly, before either Ric or Jeff could leave the stage, "Sexy Boy" hits, and Shawn's video starts on the titantron. Shawn walks out from the back, giving Flair a long hug as he passes the Hall of Famer. Smiling slightly, he takes the mic from Ric, and points to the ramp at Jeff.

"First of all, Jeff, welcome back. It's good to have you on Monday Night RAW. Secondly, i hope you had a chance to rest and heal up on your vacation. Because you know as well as I do, just what a Ladder Match can do to a man. I've been in this business for over 2 decades, and I'm at the top of my game right now. When you left this business, you were injured in more places than any of us can care to count. And you know as well as i do...I will NOT go easy on you, Jeff...I WILL win this match, and I WILL become WWE Champion once more..." He said, the whole time walking down to the ring. Once he finished, he was right in Jeff's face, staring down slightly at him.

Before anyone else could say anything, Batista's music hit the arena, amidst scattered cheers and boos. Dave walked out right behind Ric, not looking to be in a very good mood. He was dressed in his leather jacket and jeans, and had a microphone of his own in his hand...

"Hold on, hold on. I think both of you are forgetting something. I just put my body on the line last night, on the grandest stage of them all for that very title. If anyone should be in this match, it should be ME! If John Cena cannot defend his title, then it should go to the man that put him on the shelf...ME! And I don't care who else wants to get a shot at the title. If EITHER of you want a shot at this title, you should be doing so while facing ME! I'M the real deserved champion on RAW, Ric, come on." he said, turning to Flair. "I at least deserve to be in this match..."

"Dave," Flair replied solemnly, "The match is already decided. Besides, your actions as of late have not been worthy of such a prize as the WWE Championship..."

Shawn piped up quickly "I actually talked with Ric about this earlier, Batista. Whhen your actions make the dirtiest player in the game shake his head in shame, that's saying something!" The fans pop for the remark, livening up as he walkes to the edge of the ring. "But thankfully, you'll be in a match tonight. And if you win, then MAYBE you'll get a shot at the Tag Team Titles." He says and winks slightly.

"You can't do that, Shawn! You're not the manager!" Batista yelled back.

"Ahh, but I already ok'ed it." Ric responded. "You'll be in a match with a superstar of your choosing and will be facing Mark Henry and The Big Show later tonight..." The news made Batista roar in anger, throw down the mic, and backtrack out of the stage, mouthing to Shawn "this isn't over..."

Shawn nodded to Jeff as he finally turned back to face him after his confrontation with Batista. He listened to everything Jeff mentioned, and nodded in approval after every time the audience popped. He lifted his own mic, and brought it to his lips.

"Jeff, I know very well everything you've done with ladders...but dont ever forget that i was in the FIRST EVER ladder match. I helped INVENT this match. Dont forget that, especially not tonight. I respect you, Jeff...and i respect everything you've done in this business...but tonight...You're goin to school..." With that, he drops the microphone, as his music starts playing through the stadium once more. He ducks under the top rope, and drops to the ground, making his way up the ramp backwards, not taking his eyes off of Hardy...
