Arolon had quickly learned about each of the top three gangs. He didn't want to be Shunned in his new home where no one knew him in the first place so he decided to join a gang. Which one was a hard decision for him, it felt unloyal to Ista but he was an Igen candidate now.

He learned that Rising Sun appreciated Weyrbred candidates so he decided to join that one. He would tell them about his parents and their dragon's colors.

They owned Flit Egg Hunting Grounds and he had a Fire Lizard egg from Ista, he figured they could relate to each other.

As a last bid to earn their favor he had information and rumors about Favan that they might want to know. It was clear they wanted to stay in power and that Favan was in the way of that.

He had no doubt they would test him somehow, so he was ready for that too. Arolon just didn't know what to expect from them. He hated hats, it would take time to get used to wearing a bandana...

He followed a Rising Sun member on his way to the leader Theron. They talked with the leader briefly then left. Arolon approached slowly and respectfully with his head held high, not cowering.

"Sir, my name is Arolon, and I would like to join your gang."

Today was just another day for Theron. This woman, Favan, she'd waltzed right in like she owned the place and slid right into the position his mother had held for turns upon turns. It didn't sit well with him. Even Th'ran had developed a distaste for the goldrider rather quickly and, considering his brother's ambitions, that was saying something. She did, however, have quite the personality and this was something he was going to have to factor into his calculations. Faranth, but he disliked complications. He had his underlings scurrying about for information, and they were, as always, doing fairly well. Nodding to the candidate who'd answered his latest question, Theron ducked his head to scribble a note down in his ledger.

Troubling. Now, he just needed to-

"Excuse me?" Theron raised his eyebrows.

Tucking his ledger under his arm, he gave the boy before him a quick once over. Theron snorted and tossed his head. He was, of course, dressed to the nines with black pants, a yellow top and black choker. No outfit was complete without a small army of bandannas; Theron had one on each wrist, one around his left forearm, just below his right knee and he was using the last to tie his black hair up. The image he presented was...interesting, to say the least.

"What makes you think I want you in my faction, weyrbrat?"

"I'm useful information to you, and an insider to your enemy."

He was blunt and to the point.

Favan stole their power and she wasn't giving it back. Weyrleader was up for grabs by any bronzerider of any family. Even then she wasn't going to
let the Weyrleader rule. Once coupled with a man there was always the chance of Favan having a big family of her own through the turns. They would be favored over any of Theron's family. More golds will be hatching and there was always the chance Thera's daughter could be ousted. Favan could take everything from this man and Arolon knew it.

He also knew Favan's personality, everyone at Ista did, and this worried him about her ability to rule. He could be spy for Rising Sun. He wanted to keep an eye on Favan. Rumors from Ista weren't saying good things about her and she directly affected Igen weyr now, his new home. He wanted to make sure she didn't ruin things.

He'd also be trusted more by other Ista transfer candidates then any of Theron's bandana-bearing scouts.

"Enemy is a very strong word."

He wasn't really in the business to make enemies, let's face it. Those things just sort of just happened. Theron knew such things were inevitable, but that didn't make them enjoyable, or even remotely useful. In fact, they just made life that much more difficult and the less enemies he could have, the more smoothly his operations would run, and Faranth only knew he had more than enough operations to run.

Given, Favan had presented herself to be quite the obstacle, but this was Rising Sun, and more importantly, this was Theron. He had plans.

"Here's the thing, however. I find it strange that you happen to think you could tell me something no one else in the entire Weyr could." Theron gave Arolon a blank look. "Clearly, weyrbrat, you underestimate my ability to be resourceful. I have been running this operation for close to five turns now, and that, I am sorry to say, is not one of the best sales pitches I've ever heard.

Shifting his weight idly, Theron folded his arms across his chest and made deliberate eye contact. "So let's try this again, shall we? Why should I let you into my faction? And this time, at least try to impress me."

Arolon met and held his gaze with a feirce determination in his eyes.

"I'm not going to give up, even if you don't accept me. I am one of the most patient followers you'll ever meet. If my words fail me then give me a challenge, a task and I'll impress you that way. I'll keep trying for turns if I have to until I prove myself to you or grow too old to stand at the sands. I won't join any other faction Theron. I'll make sure other factions know that I'm loyal to Rising Sun just to ruin my chance to join any other factions. If I don't do the job right you can always say no again."

Speech over he shrugged at Theron. "What could it hurt to at least let me try?"

Theron gazed back, eyes dark and cold as he listened half-heartedly. He was not sure what the new-comer was trying to prove, challenging him directly, but that wasn't relevant to his interest. Sighing softly, Theron tipped his head to one side as though he were deliberating and rubbed the orange bandanna on his arm. Ah. Opening his eyes slowly (and only just realizing he had even closed them to begin with), he untied the brightly colored piece of cloth and held it up.

"You see this? I'm sure you've noticed by now we all wear them. Now, since you've decided you'd like to prove your worth with a task, I have the perfect thing in mind. Iathe and I arent't getting along right now-" because that was different from the norm "-so I want you to fetch her bandanna for me. She wears it as a belt."

Theron smiled; the expression was completely void of emotion, an empty display of kindness delivered with a brutal sentence.

"Now, we will see what you're made of, won't we?"

He had to steal a woman's bandana from around her waist? Okay, not exactly the kind of challenge he expected. If he made it out of this without getting his loins kicked it would be a miracle. This may require planning...

"What's she look like so I don't go after the wrong girl?" He wasn't sure if there would be other Rising Sun women with bandanas worn as belts. He assumed it was another member of the faction. He didn't want to go after the wrong person. Then again, anyone in the faction would go after him if they saw what was going on, no one knew he was under orders from Theron. All she would have to do is scream and he'd be in big trouble.

Mission full of risk and consequences of failure were not an option, the trouble he may get into...Too late now, he had thrown himself into this and he would go through it. He had to if he wanted any kind of social life, he wanted to join this faction. Not any other.

At least Theron was giving him a chance now... he just had to prove himself.

"Iathe is the leader of Sandstorm. She is rather hard to miss and, unless I am mistaken, which I'm not, I believe she is the only member of her faction who wears her color as a sash." It was certainly a challenge, but Theron delivered exactly what Arolon had asked for. He believed in truth in advertising, after all. (Well, to a degree.)

Theron shifted again, snapping his ledger open once more to record the interaction that had just taken place and add a few notes on the entire situation. He glanced back up at Arolon and raised his eyebrows. "Still here? No bandanna until I get that sash, I'm afraid. Oh, and should she catch you, I suggest you don't mention my name if you like your face where it is." As it were, Iathe would probably maim him anyways, but if the young woman came after Theron too? There would be hell to pay.

Arolon's eyes widened as his words sank in. He wanted him to steal from the leader of another faction! One order and she could send her entire faction after him. At least she would be hard to miss. Unfortunately getting her alone would be difficult.

Calling upon his own courage he realized that if he had the guts to try and managed to pull this off he would be a legend in his own eyes. To steal something right out from under a leader's nose...He just hoped he wasn't caught, the consequences could be dire.

"Yes sir," Arolon wouldn't tell on Theron, it'd cause a faction war. He nodded and swiftly left to go do some careful planning.
