Mikhail wanted to keep one of the documents? Tzao was clearly surprised, but his features arranged into one of understanding as he noted the name on the paper- Seung, the one that Mikhail had mentioned rescuing. To be fair, the Taotie did not like the idea of any of the papers leaving his own hands. Not because he had any personal use for them - he'd spent enough hours meditating over their contents that they were nearly memorized. But he did want to have them available to share with other Fa'e, and besides... he wasn't sure that he was ever supposed to have gotten his hands on them in the first place. It was possible that there was someone that would be looking for them, and if that were the case, they were the safest around him, which his non-detection abilities.
But Mikhail was earnest, and his character, what Tzao had seen of it, was not weak. "... You may," the teenager decided at last, "so long as you understand that it must be kept very safe. I do not know if others would want to find these papers, Mikhail, but there are some very... obvious weaknesses for each Fa'e written in them. If you are to take those papers to show Seung-" for that's what Tzao assumed the angel meant by taking them, "you must be very cautious that they do not slip away from you."

His reason for asking had been out of an intention to give Seung her papers, since they were hers, but when Tzao cautioned him to make sure they didn't slip away from him, he nodded. Mikhail could see what he meant, and it was osmethign he could agree to. Even if he couldn't give them to his friend, at least he could keep them safe for her.
It was nothing against Tzao-Hyung, of course, but Mik was intensely protective of the little mothfish. "I promise," he said gravely, "I'll keep them safe."

"That is well, then," Tzao answered simply. There was no need to be more dire about it; Mikhail understood the dangers already, and that was that. If Tzao couldn't extend at least that much trust to his fellow Fa'e, then he had no business show the angel these papers in the first place.
The Taotie gathered up the rest of the documents neatly, keeping one hand resting on them as they sat on the table. "So you have read these now, Mikhail. What is your impression of them?"

"Thank you." Mik nodded gratefully, turning Seung's papers over. Better to fend off the temptation of reading them. If she offered, fine, but otherwise he was going to be good.
He took some time to think over the teen's next question. He'd been given an awful lot to think about over the course of their meeting, and now had to straighten it out into some semblance of sense so he could answer. "I'm not sure yet," he admitted, "But I'm as worried as ever. I need to talk to more Fa'e, see if they know anything about Airi or Chaos or the way we grow. And find Morty again."

To this, the Taotie could only nod his unwavering agreement. There was still so much to be learned, and these paper offered no more than a glimpse into the workings of the other Fa'e. "I, too, will speak with the other Fa'e as I can, and learn from them," Tzao replied. "If you should find anything noteworthy, I hope that you will think to share it with me, and I will do likewise." Between the two of them, the Taotie was very certain, they could unravel so many of the mysteries yet remaining in what it was to be Fa'e - and in doing so, better protect themselves and the rest of their kind from the perils that seemed unavoidable with their nature. And if Tzao could manage to find some answers of his own along the way, a new tool to fight the hunger with, well then....

"Of course," Mikhail agreed readily. During the course of their discussion, the taotie had managed to become his second friend. He was already eager to find something, in part so that he could share it. "We can trade phone numbers?"

Tzao, too, was very pleased with how their meeting had gone as well. He enjoyed many of the Fa'e he met, but without Guelherme around, had found himself somewhat at a loss. There were things he felt pressed to investigate, but without his serpentine friend to accompany him, the task had seemed frustrating and arduous. Mikhail was quite the blessing to have found!
"Absolutely, yes," Tzao agreed, rising from the table to fetch a pencil and some paper from a drawer in the kitchen. He wrote his number down for the angel in neat, concise script, then folded the paper down the middle and tore it in half, sliding the piece with his number, along with the blank half and the pencil, across the table to Mikhail. "I do not have a cell phone, so if I am not available, please just leave a message and I will return your call as quickly as I am able," he informed the youth Fa'e.

"Got it." He pocketed Tzao's number and wrote both his home and cell phone numbers for the other Fa'e. Somehow, it wasn't surprising that Tzao didn't have a cell phone. Mikhail didn't use his much, but he liked having one just in case. Even if he never got calls from anyone other than his guardian, it was nice to have.

Tzao treated the paper with unusual respect when he took with from Mikhail, accepting it with both hands and a slight bow before immediately stashing it safely in his sleeve. "Thank you, Mikhail. I will keep you informed if I should find anything," the Taotie promised. "Until then?"

"Until then," Mikhail agreed with a nod, wondering absently if Tzao had a pocket in his sleeve or something. It seemed like an odd place to put things...not that it mattered. Taking up Seung's papers, he stood.
