my thoughts on this is that u shouldn't of posted this. i've been dancing with a studio all my life. i just find it offensive and many people will take it as an insult. i mean no offense, just warning. yes i am a bit enraged with it so thats why i'm poliyely asking...TO STATE SOMETHING NEXT TIME THATS ACTUALLY TRUE

well some dance class ive been to are not as good as others and some you don't learn anything in also sometimes its just your natural ability everyones diffrent. although its possible they are just saying that they have been danceing for a while to try to empress people

i teach kids like that...

i want to go slap them. then proceed to grab limbs and twist, turn, and pull them until they are positioned just so.

not all dance education is created equal. what is advanced in one studio, might be inferior baby technique in another.

she wasn't saying that you can't pull off a single without falling out of it.

she's saying that those kids can't. and there are many people i know that have trained nearly their entire lives and do dance that badly. but it's because they have lousy teachers that give little to no corrections, and when they do, the correction is wrong.

she's not saying everyone's like that. she's just complaining about braggers basically.

the lesson here is "be humble" you might be good where you're from. but someone else is likely to be better, and if you go around bragging like that, it makes others want to laugh you out the room.

i've danced for 8 years and i find it hilarious when we go to our dance masters competitions and you get to see all of the crazy studios! crazy as in racks and racks of costumes, tents to change in, stereo systems to practice before they go onstage, and costumes(my friend asked one of the somewhat nice dancers how much one costume was they said $1,500. FOR ONE COSTUME!! i believe it too!)

I agree with the few that say it depends on how much training and who trained them on their ability. I also think you should take into account that some people are snobby about things they do because they are uncomfortable about their ability. I am a college student who choreographs for middle school. high school. and a gymnastics studio. I've been dancing on and off for 17 years, I believe (geez I'm old), and some people just don't like my techniques or stuff I bring to the table. Sometimes I have an off day and I will fall out of a single and sometimes I am on it and can bust out a triple with an axle turn into a pique arabesque ( jettes are "iffy" sometimes as well). It REALLY just depends.... but no matter what I KNOW I am a good choreographer whether I am on it or off it ( just because i can't do it that day does NOT mean I do not have the knowledge to choreograph it)... Just have humility and let others make their judgments.. Professionally, I DO NOT "toot my own horn" and I believe as dancers we should ALL have humility.... It's what makes dancing and PERFORMANCE .... GREAT
