Oh hey this is ungodly long, blame Sora.
FLATSALE ENTRY: SCYTHE!!
Username: ladyumbra
TECHNICIAN Name: Cammi Melville
Gender: Female
Personality: Cammi is an adrenaline junkie, the type of girl who likes to live on the edge. She takes on any challenge that comes her way and tries to prove that nothing is impossible. If asked why she often takes great risks with no real substantial payoff Cammi’s answer will always be. “Because I can.” Buildings exist to be jumped between or off of, slippery rock faces are put before her to be climbed. These things aren’t obstacles to Cammi, they are chances to push herself and have a little fun.
Cammi desires no fame or recognition for the stunts because they are done for her; for that glorious adrenaline high she gets when her heart races a mile a minute. Anything that could give her that feeling is worth being tried at least once as far as Cammi is concerned.
Though always a daredevil even as a small child, Cammi is now at that lovely teen age where she thinks she’s indestructible. Though this allows her to take risks that may pay off in battle it also means she puts herself and Bianca in harms way more often than is advisable. She’s not actively trying to cheat death in battle but she’s not yet good at judging which surprising attacks are worth how vulnerable the pair leaves themselves in order to perform them.
Perhaps her greatest flaw is that Cammi has yet to learn that the world doesn’t always have to be lived in a headlong rush towards whatever is happening. Only time will tell if Cammi will mature enough to learn that there are other, greater payoffs in life than just adrenaline. She has the attitude and will to succeed at anything she tries but more experience and wisdom is definitely required.
Social wise Cammi is extremely friendly but easily bored. Anytime a conversation starts to bore her or sparks a new thought of something semi related she must interrupt the current speaker, even if it’s herself, and force a change of topic. She can be very childish in that while she doesn’t need to be the center of attention Cammi does need to be interested or entertained or she simply will not pay attention. If you’re talking about something Cammi cares for though she will gladly chat with you for hours. She is willing to listen to opposing view points and consider them as long as they are on a topic she finds appealing.
WEAPON Name: Bianca Harris
Appearance: Bianca is short skinny spitfire who tries to make a statement with her looks. At the moment her black hair is currently kept in a stylized Mohawk that’s tipped silver .( sort of like this) http://api.ning.com/files/LxUWhj8CVobPFJMiUg2ZX0CaO4f2oSp5iYJ-nwtgz8Y_/redhawk001.jpg
Her eyes are a light amber and wide set. Her skin tone is the bronzed tan of girl who spends a lot of time outside. Clothing wise Bianca is currently into grungy looking things that still look decent after they’ve gone through the normal wear and tear she puts on clothes.
Personality:
Bianca is a spirited young woman with a lot to prove to the world. She’s an even five feet tall and can’t help but feel that people look down on her for being short even if that’s not always true. As a result Bianca tends to get defensive at even the slightest hint of criticism regardless of what it is related to. While her height does limit Bianca in her human form she works hard to find her way around things and damned if she’ll let someone help her if she can do something herself. Bianca takes great pride in being self sufficient for the most part.
She’s energetic and practically fearless, willing to jump into most situations, hope to land on her feet and go from there. Bianca has a can do attitude when it comes to most things and she’s stubborn enough to never back out of anything she starts. She does however look for praise and recognition for her deeds. Adrenaline is great and provides an extra push and incentive to do some things but Bianca is seeking approval, she wants the effort she puts forward to amount to something. Unlike Cammi, Bianca is a little more solidly grounded and realistic about life.
Bianca is the brains in battle most of the time, she trusts Cammi to take care of them and make basic judgment calls but she can feel when the force behind a swing or angle is off and is prone to shouting corrections. She’s not a perfectionist but real lives are at stake here and Bianca would prefer every swing do as much damage as possible. Cammi’s habit of spontaneously switching or introducing attacks irks her and they usually argue about it after the fact regardless of if it worked or not. They have a strong friendship but their work relationship is still a work in progress.
Bianca is something a social butterfly, she’s got an opinion on everything and is more than willing to share. She’s not the touchy feeling sort so hugs and leaning on her are not happily accepted but otherwise Bianca is usually okay to be in a crowd and engaged in conversation. She likes making her voice heard and standing out when she gets the chance.
Prompt Choice: Your WEAPON partner is causing a scene in the middle of the ballroom: what are they doing, and what caused it? How do you deal with the situation?
Prompt Response:
t was one of those nights where the people involved would talk about it for some time afterwards. They’d reminisce about the ample food and drink, tasteful decorations and how the chandelier lighting set just the right mood. Not to mention the live band that seemed to know which songs got people off the walls and out onto the dance floor.
Over the past half hour Cammi Melville had stepped on the feet of several different people as she’d learned that just because she was normally agile and sure-footed, it didn’t in any way mean she could dance. The energetic teen lacked the experience to know what she was doing and had picked songs to dance to that had complicated step patterns. She’d given it her best, watched others and tried to suss out the correct ones but so far Cammi’d yet to successfully complete a single dance. Not that her own feet hadn’t been trampled a few times as well but that wasn’t exactly the point. This might actually be the something she had to admit defeat to if she didn’t want half her peers annoyed at her crushing their toes.
The current song wound down and Cammi came millimeters from scuffing her male companion’s expensive-looking shoes for a third time as she tried some fancy side-step-slide thing. She wasn’t all that surprised when after the song ended he released her hands, gave her a curt nod then disappeared. Cammi could rollerblade on hand-rails and DDR was a breeze but she could not learn to dance in one night. No one, herself included, wanted to dance with someone who was going to make walking for the rest of the night painful.
The blonde sighed and decided to take a break and get something to eat. Perhaps she’d give it another shot afterwards or maybe she’d find something else to entertain herself with. This whole ball thing wasn’t really Cammi’s normal scene. She’d happily trade in her dress for a wingsuit and her dress shoes for rollerblades or riding boots. Sure, her heart raced a little when she danced but it wasn’t enough and there were too many slow songs in between fast ones.
Cammi moved off the dance floor and weaved her way through the crowd. She wrinkled her nose and tried not to breathe too deeply. An awful lot of perfume and cologne smells mixed and permeated the air as their wearers moved throughout the ballroom. The girl would have preferred the smell of a well-earned sweat or burnt rubber but she doubted her fellow attendees would agree.
As she walked Cammi overheard snippets of the various conversations that took place around her. Most people talked about the new pairs that had formed, made predictions on how they thought that would turn out and who was likely to end up alone at the end. Though she recognized a few of the names Cammi paid little attention, she was hungry and she already had a partner.
Bianca was a girl who’s weapon form was that of a semi-ornate scythe. Cammi had known the other girl practically all her life and they’d been friends almost the whole time. There had been no need for either girl to scope out potential partners when it seemed like fate had delivered them to each other years ago. Sure Bi could be too stubborn sometimes and it was a bit irritating that the other girl couldn’t just enjoy things without looking for praise but Cammi tried to shove aside minor issues like that. They’d shared too many good times and triumphs as friends to let little things diminish that.
Eventually Cammi made her way to the row of linen-covered buffet tables. As Cammi stepped closer to the first table and grabbed a paper plate she had to laugh. There were white and orange cheese balls shaped like souls, crackers like shinigami-sama’s face and a host of other foodstuffs that had been molded and crafted into things that were representative of Shibusen in nature. Not that Cammi was going to count but the girl figured there was or had been probably a hundred of everything too just to complete the symbolism. Okay. So perhaps they did know how to make things a little interesting.
Cammi grabbed things she knew she liked and a few things she had no idea what the heck they were but should be tried out anyways. As long as there wasn’t another surprise allergy debacle like when she and Bianca had celebrated their first soul with a lobster dinner everything would be fine.
From somewhere out on the dance floor came a familiar, high pitched, indignant squeal.
Cammi swallowed a mousse-filled Jello ball and shook her head. Someone had probably just called Bianca short or tiny or anything else that could be taken as an attack on the other girl’s diminutive stature. It was nothing Bianca couldn’t handle and it would look silly for Cammi to march over there and tell someone not to pick on her weapon because she was short. Cammi was often a bit awed by the way Bianca kept up with her and found innovative ways to deal with her limiting height. She knew her partner didn’t actually need her help right now.
At least Cammi thought so until she noticed some people had started to gravitate towards one central area near the eastern wall and soft titters of laughter emanated from within the ring of people.
The teen shivered and felt the hair on the back of her neck rise as goosebumps formed on her skin. Oh not today! Not now of all times. The last thing she or Bianca needed was for the weapon girl to be stuck.
The two had been working on their timing lately, trying to make Bianca’s transformations faster and smoother while Cammi worked on getting a solid grip right away and getting into a proper stance. All the extra shifting between forms had put Bianca’s body on a hair trigger and she’d developed the slight tendency to transform out of nowhere. Added to that was the fact that the weapon girl seemed to get stuck in her Scythe form for a time. Neither girl knew why and both were too embarrassed and stubborn to ask anyone who might have a clue...
Cammi shoved her way through the crowd and ignored how many feet she had to step on in the process. She hoped she was wrong about what had happened but knew in her gut that she was right.
Just as she’d feared Cammi found her partner leaned against a wall and stuck in her weapon form. Though Bianca was currently only one half of the crowd’s center of attention. The other was a boy probably no older than them who’s face was redder and shinier than the tie he wore.
“Cammi, do something!” Bianca’s words were an embarrassed hiss. Her image appeared briefly in the metallic blade of the scythe, then disappeared.
Cammi’s icy blue eyes flicked from her partner to the equally embarrassed boy questioningly. What had happened here?
“It was an accident, we were dancing and my hand slipped, then she just..” The boy shrugged and trailed off.
Cammi and Bianca sighed at the same time; it figured something like that would happen tonight.
With little effort Cammi reached out to pick up Bianca and held her so the curve of the scythe’s blade went over her shoulder. The blonde affectionately winked at her partner then grinned. “Come on Bi. Let's go see if we can dance like this.” It was an interesting idea and if they pulled it off there’d be less to be embarrassed about right? It could become the next big thing.
“What!?”
“At least I can’t step on your feet.”
