Zee frowned at Ginger, but made no comment. He nodded, turned around and started to count in an extremely slow manner. "One. Two. Three.." He started, covering his eyes. "Four. Five. You guys better hide! Six. Seven.." He paused, and waited for them to leave.
"I win!" Devin protested, giving his new sister a glare, a cute one, but a glare none the less. He'd win, of course he'd win! But maybe... Maybe they could all win? The toddler would follow Ginger and hide with her! Yeah, then if she won, he would too!

Zemel dashed out of the rooms, eyes scanning for a hiding place. Where to hide, where to hide....there! He opened the door to the hallway closet, ducking down behind some coats that were hanging up as he tried to shut the door as quietly as he could.
Ginger giggled, finding the glare more adorable than intimidating. She skipped off towards the back door; why stay hiding inside when there were plenty of places outside to hide? She giggled, searching for a good spot and completely unaware that she was being followed.

"...Eight. Nine. Ten. Eleven. Twelve. Thirteen. " Zee continued in this fashion until he reached thirty, giving enough time for the children to hide. "Ready or not, here I come!" The dark elf went off in search for the children, oblivious to the fact that his son was outside, following a certain blonde older sister.
Devin was silent as he followed, well, he was until he tripped on the back porch's second step. He promptly started to sniffle. He wasn't really hurt, he wasn't bleeding or anything. But still. "Ginner!" He called, sniffling. "Owie," he whined, pointing to his knee. "Hurtth."

Zemel held as still as he could, eyes almost boring holes through the coats as he stared towards the door. This was a good hiding spot, right? A bit late to be thinking that, but there was nothing he could do about it.
Ginger blinked, turning around. "Oh!" was all the came from her as she darted over, kneeling beside him. "You okay?" she asked, glancing at the injured limb. She paused, assessing it a moment. "You'll be fine." she decided, standing back up. "Now come on! We don't want to get found, do we?"
Stasia followed Zee, only paying partial attention to the sounds around her. Didn't want to find them too quickly, now did she?

Zee took a glance around, not exactly looking for anyone. He didn't want to spoil the game by finding them too soon. "Hmm.. I wonder where they could be." He muttered, grinning at Stasia.
He'd be fine? Clearly Devin didn't believe Ginger, because he rubbed his eyes. It hurt! How could he be fine when it hurt? The toddler sniffled, but nodded at his older sister. "We hide," he agreed. "We win. Kay? Both win."

Stasia chuckled. "Yeah, I wonder..." she said, returning the smile. Where, oh were, had the kidlets gone? Oh where, oh where could they be?
Down the hall, a yelp could be heard, accompanied by frantic shuffling. Zemel had just met the spider that resided in the closet. Fun fun. His hands clasped over his mouth, eyes darting around in the dark. Crap, has he yelped out loud? He hoped he hadn't...stupid spider, scaring him like that...
Ginger nodded, picking her little brother up with some difficulty before heading off to find a good hiding spot somewhere in the neighborhood. Hey, the adults hadn't said it was limited to the yard, now did they? She giggled, happily heading off to find the ultimate hiding spot in unfamiliar territory.

Promptly, Devin began to cry. This wasn't home. He wanted Daddy. He didn't like this game anymore. So the navy skinned toddler rubbed golden eyes with his hands, a sniffle escaping him. "Want home..." He sniffled, looking up at Ginger. "Thith not home. Want Daddy!"
Zee's ears twitched, but not because of the yelp Zemel had made. He was listening to something further away. Elven ears could pick up things humans could not. "Devin's in trouble. He's not in the house." he informed Stasia with a slight frown. "He's crying. Can we pause the game and go look for him? Or do you want to find Ginger and Zemel first?"

Ginger blinked, her mouth forming a little "O" in surprise. She hadn't expected him to start crying! "Hey, we're just going to find a hiding place, okay? So we can win. Don't cry, Devin! It's okay...." Why, oh why did her brothers have to be cry-babies, why?
Stasia looked towards the door. "Let's go find him. I'm sure Ginger and Zemel can fare pretty well by themselves for a bit." She hadn't heard what Zee had, but she trusted his judgment. "Devin's little, and it's his first day." And that's why he was higher priority at the moment.
Zemel sat in the closet, eavesdropping on the adults. Oh no! How had Devin gotten out? The poor little guy. The blonde-haired boy wasn't sure what to do; give up his hiding place and help find his brother, or stay here and hope to win. On one hand, he knew he would be able to help....on the other, he was sure the adults would manage just fine without him.

Devin sniffled, looking up at his older sister in a mixture of fear and awe. "Wan go home!" he whined, rubbing his right eye with his left hand. "No wan win no more! Wan Daddy! Wan Mommy!" And so saying, he began to cry again.
Zee nodded and took Stasia's hand. "Let's go," he muttered, opening the door. He left the house, and cocked his head so he could listen better. Ears twitched, and a slow smile made it's way across his lips. "He's this way," he gestured to the left. "It won't be hard to find him, Devin's pretty loud. I don't think we'll ever have a peaceful moment when he's around."

Ginger rolled her eyes. "Fine, fine, we'll head back and find a hiding place there, okay? Just stop crying." She tried bouncing Devin gently, like Mom used to do with them when they were little. "It's okay; no need to cry like that. You're alright..." She was NEVER teaming up with Devin again, EVER!
Stasia blinked as she was all but pulled out of the house. She nodded, chuckling. "Like we have any now?" She didn't know about him, but she hadn't had a peaceful moment since 'Zuba was adopted. Her ears gave a visible twitch as she listened, faintly able to hear....murmuring. She then sprinted without warning, heading towards the sound.
Curiousity nagged at Zemel, driving him from his dark hiding space in the closet. He crept into the hallway, glancing around. Looks like the adults had headed outside. He made his way to the window, peeking around the corner. He didn't see any sign of Devin, but he could see the adults! He ducked down quickly, hoping he hadn't been spotted.

"Ginger's with him," Zee muttered, looking in Stasia's direction. Then he realized that she'd sprinted off. He took after her, matching her stride. "But I don't hear Zemel. He's probably still in the house." The voices were getting louder as they neared them, until...
"Mommy!" One might have expected Devin to dash towards his father, the parent he knew best. But no, instead he squirmed from Ginger's hold and ran with his arms outstretched. "Mommy! I mithed you!"
Instead of being irritated with the fact that Devin seemed to like his mother better, Zee turned to face Ginger. He had that all too familar teacher-like glint in his eyes, the glint his students always tried to avoid. For good reason; it usually meant a week's worth of detention. "Ginger... I thought the rules were that the game was to be played inside."

Stasia smiled, hugging the little boy as he ran up to her. "You okay, Devin?" she asked, looking at him. He'd been crying; had he gotten hurt? She could reprimand Ginger later; right now she wanted to make sure that the cabbage-fresh kidlet was okay.
Ginger gave Zee an oh-so-innocent look. "I didn't think that the boundaries were specified." she said, her tone just as chipper as usual. She tilted her head to the side, offering a small apologetic smile. "I'm sorry if we worried you; it wasn't on purpose."

Devin wrapped chubby arms around Stasia's neck, before responding to her question. "I got owwie," he told her, before pulling away. "I got owwie right here." He pointed to his knee, where a small bruise was already appearing. It was purple on his dark skin. "We play new game? No like thith one."
Zee shook his head, frowning at Ginger. "Don't play innocent with me, it doesn't work. Almie used it too many times. Anyway, next time we play hide 'n seek, there'll be boundaries. Like. Hiding inside the house or in the backyard."

Stasia patted the little fella on the head. "You'll be okay." she said, nodding as she stood up, picking Devin up as she did. "Yeah, we can play a new game." she said, hugging him. Poor little guy, she didn't blame him for wanting to change games; what in seven hells had Ginger been thinking?!?
Ginger shrugged, ignoring his first comment. "Alright." she said, offering a smile. "If you'd only specified that earlier, I would have had no problem staying in the yard or house. I was just trying to find the best hiding spot ever." Okay, she had to admit, maybe she was laying it on a bit to thick, but hey; it sounded good.
Zemel approached the group, tired of hiding. It was kind of boring when no one was looking for you, after all. "Is everything okay?" he asked, looking at the adults and his siblings. Uh-oh, looked like Ginger got into trouble. What had she done this time?

Devin forced a smile. "Kay, what game?" he asked, tilting his head with vague curiousity. Then he caught sight of Zemel, and shot a geniune smile in his direction. At least there was one sibling he wasn't afraid of! He hugged Stasia with his arms around her neck, before reaching for Zemel. "My brudder! Wan play with me?"
Zee sighed, and looked at Stasia helplessly. "I assumed that you, being as old as you are, would understand the rules of Hide 'n seek. Generally, one understands that when playing hide 'n seek, you hide where you can be found." A low mixture of elvish and fae escaped his lips, before he stopped, and forced a smile. "I suppose it's alright, as long as you never do it again." It was a bad attempt to appear calm.
