"How's he doing down there?"
"Eh, the kid couldn't be better. Threw in a couple of chickens and the b*****d nearly ran me over to snap 'em up." Jennifer chuckled at the irittated expression upon her senior researchers' face, not to mention his normally pristine appearance had been mucked up and thrown apart by the forementioned "b*****d" in the observation room below.
"But I warned you that chickens were his favorite snack!" She smiled and made a small note on the clipboard she held before handing it to another researcher in the room. 'Hell, even I got trampled a few times by him.....Bah, whatever." The other walked off with the grumblings of 'needing a shower' and such while Jennifer, herself, went back to watching a bright green T-Rex chomp down the poor fowl with a delighted roar. Such a goofball but whomever thought....
Whoever thought someone like Zareb could be chosen for their little experiment was beyond her. Personally, she would have chosen tarak due to his patient nature but...apparently, head scientist wanted the crazy one.
~~
Down below, Zareb was currently as happy as clam. He had just fed, played "chase" with one of the funny humans, and was now settling down for a second nap.
Earlier on, his human and a few others had brought him into this weird place. It looked like his home, but it was small. And they did weird things to him. Metal things that made noise were looked at by the humans while his human poked something into his hide.
Eh....but it was over now, yes? Nothing to worry about!

The sound of whirling gears and hydraulics filled the air as the large hangar door to the research lab began to open. A burly man stood with his back facing the facility, motioning with his hands for something just beyond the door to come forward.
"All right Mac, move 'er in! Nice and Easy! Don't wanna be bangin' around the cargo!"
A huge forklift beeped steadily as she backed up into the entrance... her massive cargo resting firmly before her.
"Hold it right there Mac!" the man shouted, motioning for the forklift operator to stop. He removed the clipboard he'd had wedged on the seat of his pants, and moved in towards Jennifer.
"E'yah there miss, I'll be needing a sign-off on this transfer" he said with a smile, handing her the clipboard and a pin. He readjusted his cap, winking at her. "Yep, you've got a real live one 'ere miss!"
~~
Within the gigantic steel container, a female Rex paced restlessly. There was only enough room for her to move a step or too, but she took advantage of all the space available... she'd been in here far too long.
She nosed the side of the crate, sniffing vigorously through the very thin breaks in the metal piping. Wherever she was, it wasn't any place she'd ever been... it smelled nothing like her usual territory on the Ranch...
It DID, however, reek of chicken blood. Reek in a good way, of course... she licked the sides of her lips anxiously.

Jennifer grinned and took the clipboard, giving it a quick sign before handing it back to her fellow co-worker.
"Here's your sign-off. I hope Knock didn't give you guys too much trouble when ya attempted to pack her up." She smiled at the memories. "That gal has a good set of legs on her, not the easiest Rex to catch on the Ranch."
Casting a quick glance down into the pen area, she noticed Zareb stirring and getting up to investigate the container that had entered his territory. "I just hope she doesn't give the poor boy too much problems...I mean, we've taken all the nessesary precautions, but things still tend to go wrong."
~~
The male Rex perked up as the forklift came into his little hole away from his usual territory, carefully eyeing the metal box it was carrying.
He could hear, above the annoying sound the machine was making, the shuffling of taloned feet scarping against the metallic surface and, if that wasn't enough to confirm it, the scent of Rex coming from the air holes.
Pushing himself up, Zareb trotted over and stared before nosing the box with a great deal of curiousity. What was that?

The man laughed, shaking his head. "She wasn't easy to dart, I'll tell ya that much.... she gave my team a darn good runaround!"
He took the board back, clipping it again to the seat of his pants. He then trotted over to the containment box, grabbing hold of a large metal lever.
"I just hope your guy has what it takes to keep up with this broad" he snickered, thrusting the lever up, allowing the crate door to quickly slide open...
~~
With a sudden burst of speed, Knock rushed through the crate entrance, passing Zareb with hardly any notice.
She sniffed the air vigorously, growling as she trotted from one end of the habitat to the next. This place was small.... much smaller than what she was accustomed to... but at least it was bigger than that terrible box.
As she paced, she finally caught wind of the other Rex's scent... a male, for sure. On the ranch she mostly kept to herself, but now it seemed she was in dangerously close confinement with a member of the opposite sex. She puffed herself up, rumbling defensively at Zareb. This was his territory... but she had no intentions of letting him get the best of her.

Zareb gave a sharp cough-like sound of surprise at the blur of dark grey that passed infront of his eyes, blinking a few times to make sure he wasn't just seeing things.
He huffed and shook himself as he made way back towards his corner when the defensive rumble caught his attention, the scent of female causing the normally-social Rex to freeze and go into a defensive posture of his own. Behind him was that blur from before, now identified as a rather pretty-looking dark grey female Rex...plenty bigger and stronger looking than him too.
Not a good situation if Zareb needed to fend for himself...not that he knew about the dart guns at ready if such a situation should arise during their...."encounter".
Of course, like mentioned before, Zareb was a social creature. And picking fights wasn't in his nature. He gave Knockaround a friendly rumble with his head held high; yet there were signs of being submissive: his throat was totally exposed to the female and he kept a reasonable distance from the uncomfortable Rex.
~~~
"Looks like he found a way to do that." The scientist smiled down at Zarebs' behavior. Since he wasn't ready to tick Knockaround off, this was a good sign to Jennifer to keep going with the experiment.
"But I hope she didn't hurt anyone in your team today, did she?" Jen sent a troubled frown at the delivery boy of the Ranch. "I'd hate to see one of your guys caught between Knocks' toe talons."
OOC// Man's name shall randomly be Joe... because I obviously didn't think to name him before Dx
"Na, she gave us a wide berth... a really wide berth." He shrugged. "But hey, half the funs in the chase, ya'know?"
Joe slid the crate door closed, and forced the lever back down until it locked into place. He motioned for to the driver to pull out.
"Aw'right mam" he said, climbing into the lift, "you be sure to give us a call if she gives ya any trouble." He winked at Jennifer again, sitting down just as they pulled out of the containment area.
"Oh," he suddenly shouted, looking back while they moved through the loading gate, "I was told ta mention that you'd be gettin a visit from one of the senior something-or-others after we made this little delivery! Just a heads up!"
~~
Knock continued to rumble as she sized this new male up. She always kept to herself on the Ranch... only interacting with the other Rexes while feeding, or being exercised. Being in such close confinement with one was... different.
Slowly she took a few steps forward, keeping her head held low, eying him from the side. He didn't seem like the threat... but best to just play is safe.
She snorted, kicking at the dirt a little and shaking her head. Signs of a challenge, but only done to see if this male would accept. She was more than capable of picking a pretty nasty fight... but was he?
"Alright, thanks for the tip Joe!" Jennifer waved as the Ranchs' delivery boy rode off with his crew to some other task another of her fellow scientists told him to do.
Turning back to the scene below, she watched as Zareb and Knockaround regarded one another with a wary air about them. Hopefully things would perk up soon before her superior arrived on the scene.
She seriously wanted something to show for her efforts, pestering the others and the caretaker of Knockaround herself into this experiment of natural breeding.
~~~
Zareb instantly backed off a little at the signs of challenge. He wasn't much of a fighter, and against someone like Knockaround....well....this little Rex would hit the dirt face-first in no time flat!
The male snorted and pawed at the ground in an uneasy manner, further showing signs of submission to the female. No fighting now! Make nice, ye-
He suddenly stopped and perked up, glancing at a thick jumble of bushes as his nostrils flared; the scent of something....was...it....it was!
CHICKEN!
With a delighted roar, the female was instantly pushed out of his tiny brain as Zareb pounced on the brush with lightning speed; the chicken only had time to let out a tiny squawk before it found itself clutched between the reptiles' fangs.

OOC// need time to think up better human roll Dx
Knock had started to feel the male's uneasiness, and was about to back down... but just as the thought crossed her mind, he charged! Her body grew tense as she lurched up, ready to fight...
But he ran right past her! Knock roared out in confusion, and slight agitation... what the heck had that been about?!
Suddenly she knew... who could miss it? Feathers were everywhere as Zareb devoured the chicken whole. She grunted, sniffing the air intently as she popped her jaws open and shut a few times.
This was more familiar... more like feeding time. She took a careful step towards him, cocking her head further to the side, an eye still on him. Knock rumbled again, though this time it was more inquisitive... where's mine?

Zareb happily swallowed the meat and let out a pleased rumble before Knock's questioning one caught his attention. He perked up and growled at her, jaws clicking a few times as they opened and shut.
Unfortunately, there didn't seem like there was any more clucking meat running around; this made Zareb sad (since this was his favorite food) but he also had none to share with his companion. He was about to "apologize" when a series of clucks and squawks rang out from just off to the side.
A small group of chickens, at least seven or eight, ran out into the small clearing. They stopped short, stared at the Rex only to run off in different directions while shrieking in terror for their short, feathery lives.
Zareb roared and glanced at Knockaround, almost smiling in a way as he stepped off to the side. Apparently, he was allowing the female to go first....such a gentleman.
