Middle of the night dreams always stirred trouble for the female wolf, alone in dens that neither held comfort nor security for very long.
She wandered endlessly, and due to the recent encounter with another wolf of these parts she was...well, rather desperate to leave. It was necessary for her to get some rest though, and so she forced herself to stay one night; just one, promising herself that the next forest she visited there would be no pit stops.
The moon shone brightly outside, casting a milky light down onto the dark floor and illuminating the small plot of open land just outside her enclosure. It would have gone unnoticed had Eradinel slept peacefully, but her head reeled with worry and a moment in that imaginary world of hers sent her eyes flying open and her body jolting to an upright position. "What the hell." She muttered, panting softly while the shock dissipated.
It would be too much effort now to try and fall back to sleep and, honestly, would probably give her the biggest headache. Lifting her hind legs up and shaking the residue of slumber off, the wolf waddled out from her den and into the dewy light where she inhaled the wafting breeze. Though this land meant trouble for her, just like all the others, it was one of the prettiest she'd ever seen. She also sensed, due to her belief in the abnormal and ethereal, that something life changing would happen...perhaps tonight. A chill ran through her as the gale swept cold currents down a slope, pushing her toward the nearby river.
Following it, as she often 'did', Eradinel rolled onto her side and let her muzzle touch the water tentatively, trusting in the night to keep her scent hidden and the area around her clear of curious creatures.

The large male stood tall and powerful as he stalked through the forest. The darkness clung to him, and he blended with ease. His eyes were eerie glowing orbs of color that seemed to float in the darkness without the body of the wolf behind them.
He had left his brother tonight, not wanting the company of the older male to ruin this great night. His brother, who had to have balance and order.. Constantine wanted more chaos than anything. He wanted to party and live his life recklessly.. But Astrophel would always tell him how bad it was to live that way. All Constantine would do in reply, was scoff and curse a bit, before stalking off.
Astrophel needed to see that dominance and submission was where power was.. Not by logic and plan.
His heart beat with steady thumps in his chest, and he breathed a deep breath of air into his lungs. The night was breathtaking in this land.. He was seriously debating letting these lands be his new home. They served him well so far. Plentiful food, and something..new in the air.
He took another breath.
Ah. Someone was coming.

It would seem fresh air was all Eradinel ever really needed to calm her throbbing head and ease the nightmares that passed through it. A cool breeze, the babble of water passing over stones and being tampered with by aquatic fiends, and of course that moon; ever present and gleaming in a clear, night sky.
So it was very disappointing to overhear the hoot of an owl in her surroundings. It wasn't so much annoying, though she glanced toward the treetops and snarled hatefully, but an alarm that she would very well be thankful for later; if she even gave it thought after the fact. Rolling to her feet Eradinel became ridged and heated, her ears shooting back as her hairs and tail stiffened. One, long growl escaped her throat before her muscular shoulders drew up over her head in preparation for an attack. The leaves cried beneath the feet of this stranger, Era reacting by driving her claws into the soil...the scent was so strong, so canine.
It is in her nature to feel threatened by an approach of any kind, however this one was familiar...and seemed to spark more worry in her than most. It has to be a scout, she thought, they finally caught up.
It was no matter, the girl was strong and able. She would not appologize for her deeds and further more, would stand up for them if it were a must.
"I've been expecting you, vermin."

He heard her words, and his mind darkened a bit. She had called him a name, something the male wasnt always the most tolerant of.. He tended to have a temper that kept him from being able to have much of a sense of humor.
He came forward, though the shadows hid his black form quite well. His eyes were glowing a bright ruby red in the darkness, the only thing that was quite visible. He could see her, she was brighter than he happened to be.. Her white pelt, with the crimson markings, and her..her cat like eyes? That was a bit familiar to him, and he stopped, giving a bit of thought to the situation.
"I'd normally kill the one to call me such filth, but being as you seem rather familiar, I think I shall give you a chance first." Came his deepened voice which was raw with a growl that always seemed to hover in the tones of his voice.
"Who are you?"

“Of course you do,” she spat, not giving the length of his words much chance for thought. His tone was clear; she heard the poison in it and retaliated with her own dosage. What was the use of being careful now? “You recognize me from a familiar terrain, do you not? Masked with the scent of foreign earth does not cease to hide my face; a clear reminder of your past.” beneath her, the toes tinged with brown drove nails deep into soft soil while thick hairs stood rigidly. It was in the duty of scouts and hunters to slaughter their target on sight, however, and this was rather an interesting situation...seeing as he did not seem to have those intentions.
Eradinel was distracted by his question then, and though she found herself analyzing one portion of this meet, she was than prompted to decline the next. Not about to respond to his question, the canine shook her head and tossed a stiff tail into a gentle wag. “Ah, ah, ahhh; I won’t show you mine till you show me yours.”
If her memory severed her well, there were two of these wolves that held familiar smells; brothers, she assumed. Though the thoughts were meshed with that of her fathers face, Eradinel felt a pull at her emotions and snarled in response.
No one had Eradinel’s heart. No one. “You encroached on my territory. Who are you?”

The male bristled. He knew the female, she had once gone after he and his brother, and he had wanted her badly. However the events in their lives had torn their pack apart, and now here they were, loners to the forest and the night.
"Ah, I remember your name. Eradinel." He chuckled, trying to make her feel a bit nervous, a bit.. cautious.
"It's been a long time, you sexy thing." He responded, though it was tinged with a growl. He was not a loving wolf, he was not a kind wolf, nor did he ever have anything nice to say. If she wanted nice, she could find his brother, whom he saw as weak in his own right.
"You dont recognize me? Tsk tsk tsk. I thought I had a bigger impact on you." He whispered, voice seductive. He was playing his game he had so finely tuned.

What with a decent amount of time to grow a thick layer of skin and a leveled head, the wolf was not phased physically by the forming of her name on foreign lips, as well as the sound of it said aloud. Within however, Eradinel was alert and indeed cautious, her brain working feverishly to solve the conundrum.
Who was this traveler if not a scout? He belonged to her old pack, she could recall that much but...his face was hardly visible in such horrible light, and though those red eyes seemed familiar she often did not let features dictate her solutions. It was hard to control, and while her mind reeled, the thick hairs on her neck rose and visibly made her a bit larger in stature.
Keeping her face neutral, Eradinel's nature of calculating worked hard as the canine tried to deter the silence with very few, and threatening words, "Maybe if you didn't hide behind shadows I'd be able to put a name to that voice." her lips peeled slightly in a grin as claws continued to dig deep into the soil.
"Come on now; let’s see what the gods have brought me tonight."

He knew when she stood taller he was doing a fairly decent job at intimidating her. She stood strong, but he was fairly good at reading others. It was something he had honed in his year or two away from the pack he had left.
He had been a rogue, too bad to be considered part of the pack.. Even though the pack itself had not been the truest in blood. They were not pure, yet they had thrown him from the bloodlines, banishing him to a life in his own torment. Astrophel had followed, though he hadn't been willing to. The littermate of the brother was older, but he was seen as something as evil as Constantine.
He stepped from the darkness, his eyes still glowing, yet his black pelt was slightly more distinguishable with the glow of the moon shining against it. His tail swayed back and forth, the tiger stripes that decorated it seeming to shine as well.
"I will feel cross if you have forgotten me already." He said, his voice husky, though with a tint of a growl to it.

Her eyes widened to his form, an illusion passing through the open ground in a light that seemed to trick her imagination; this couldn't be him. From her stance, Eradinel was as motionless as a statue, guarding that light colored body with only the slim consciousness she was even standing here.
There was less fear in her eyes now, the widening only out of surprise. This was indeed a familiar face, from a familiar grounds of which held far too many memories. It was a male who for the better part of her priestly life, had hounded Era over the rituals of marriage and trying desperately to get his hands on her, just as he did the rest of the virgins. (Perhaps not so much marriage, as he simply wanted her.) He was scum to Eradinel, that part of the inner earth that no on could reach and really, didn't want to. One thing she could recall feeling was her mutual hatred for him with her father; though, that was where the similarities lay for them. The other wolf, his brother was one Eradinel could stand to be around.
So, with the loss of anxiety the female relaxed into her place with a shrug of her shoulders rolling back and a slight yawn escaping her maw. "Interesting." she whispered, letting her inherited accent linger.
"Hmm, it would seem your name has escaped me. You look horrible though, I do remember that." She could remember his name, but that didn't mean she'd give him the pleasure. Her tone dripped with indignation, those once wide eyes now drooped in dissatisfaction. "I was expecting someone else." She could hear the way he lulled over her appearance, noting his desire may not have faded with time as most feelings ought to.
"So you escaped the rat trap as well then? My, how impressive. Did you give your regards to my father?" her play was dangerously close to admitting some truths, but the she-wolf toyed with her words anyway.

He saw that the look of being familiar to her. He grinned inwardly, though his face stayed stoic and solemn. He couldnt help but keep the same sort of approach towards her that he had always carried. He lusted after the female, and had since they had been in the same pack. She had always wanted Astrophel, but Astro being off with another female, made him have a little hope. Though he knew if he tried hard enough it wouldnt take long to make her his.
"And you look just as bad. The loner ways have not faired the best on you, Im afraid." He said, tsking a bit as he stepped closer. "As for my name, I think I shall let you remember first. You dont need to know if you can''t remember." He said with a nod.
He was a rude wolf, always having had a temper. But she was not such a nice girl herself, which was one of his favorite qualities about her.
"Only regards I would give your father is a slow, slow death." He scoffed, shaking his head.

She felt the spark of laughter surge through her, the only thing holding the emotion back being his stance. Just because she was familiar with him through past means did not suggest he had any right to approach, and further more hold a conversation. She had no desire to have any ties with her history, though he might not have known that.
She let her jaw slack, grumbling a HUMPH before tossing her fur with a tilt of her head and speaking, “Some age like the bark of trees, strong and just as beautiful decades prior,” She regarded, giving the male a maniacal grin. “While others just can’t keep up with the times, I’m afraid.” Having some humility normally took Eradinel a long way, her muzzle gesturing to him while she continued, “And as for your name…well, so many of your features have changed I can’t quite distinguish the likeness but-- Constantine? I’m assuming. Your sexually crazed stare seems to give it away somewhat.”
And it did. Eradinel was almost more standoffish than usual, having those ruby eyes locked on her like wounded prey. Drawing her ears forward, she chuckled now, not able to hold it back with the topic.
“Oh,” she said, “But a quick death seemed fitting, do you not agree?”

He laughter irritated him, but he did a good job at hiding it. Sitting, his tail curling over his lower body, he looked back up at her with eyes that glowed like a star in the sky. Except the orb was red, and promised only pain.
He smiled, taking a look over her and shaking his head. "You think of the past. Think of the future, as your past, well is gone. Im sure by now, your father is long dead in the cold dead earth." He rolled his eyes a bit, not really realizing he hated her father like some son in laws hated the mother in laws. But he shrugged, his maw holding a slight frown, though it wasnt a true, angry frown. He never really had an expressionless face, he was intimidating.. Until something amused him.
He smiled, nodding a bit. "I dont agree darling. If he isnt dead, I hope he has a lingering painful death that no one would want. That is how much your dear old daddy means to me."
He looked back at her, his eyes eerie. He knew she disliked her father. Her father had been a nutjob, not seeing the potential before his eyes. Constantine had always seen Era's potential. Its what drew him to her so badly.

She was often one for the past, so why not think of it? Bright futures were never a part of her vocabulary ever since the Sin, and she was only able to see a firey den near the end of her days...Life for Eradinel did not consist of a decent future.
Regarding his words only with a small portion of her attention, Eradinel thought back to their Pack life. Constantine was never much for figurative talk, using so many literal questions and statements that it often turned the members of the pack off. In the golden age of their society, Era could recollect all desires the upper ranks had, one of the most important being how to speak to the royalty. He never gave them what they wanted, being who he was didn't allow for that. At one time even SHE wanted respect from all members, being the heir to the Priest but...when times grew dark and alliances were smashed even within their own ranks, Eradinel felt the spite and anger in Constantine; and embraced it.
Granted this male had always been the bane of her existence and would never cease to hold that position, but to have some similarities...actually, it made her sick. "You do not know of my father, then." she spat, receding into her normal facade and returning from her blast from the past.
"If he were to have been left alive in any situation that threatened him, my father would have found a way of surviving. He was never a real priest, you ought to know that by now. He had no powers, no bond with the heavens, none of that nonsense. Even those smoke images that formed on our Holy days were wafting from outsiders who used fire for their meals; however, he had connections." she said, drawing herself away from Constantine with a shift of her body. "There are creatures who have abilities to heal, conjure medicine, even inspire others to murder. They are the true Gods of this forest, the true messengers even. If he were left alive in that soil pit I dug for him, surely that man would be a walking corpse today."
So deep in her story, Eradinel failed to watch the direction of her words and with a single slip of the tongue had given her misconduct away...But even in that moment of admitting her guilt, Era did not feel threatened. Constantine was...if nothing else evil, and Eradinel now saw herself as evil as well.
Like with all other secrets, it almost felt good to spill the beans...she was surprised to feel so fond of doing it with a hated, ex-pack mate, however. Gritting her teeth, the wolf glared threateningly. He knew her power now, if he ever doubted it before...he knew now.

He grinned a little. His orbs glowing a bit and his tail flicking back and forth..Back and forth.. He remembered pack life too.. They had not been willing to be openminded. They being his past pack members, that was. They had ran him out, hated him, for his inability to see everything their way. He had hated those days. They had been dark, and the air had for some reason seem to always smell like brimstone. What had that pack been becoming?
"I know him well, princess. I doubt I see him the same way you do." He grumbled in reply.
"Any wolf fights to stay alive, and if they dont, they are stupid. You deserve to die if you are so willing to give up in life. It is ludacris to think otherwise." He responded, looking at her with a but of disgust at the thought of giving up on life.
His ears perked, and his maw grinned. "Soil pit -you- dug, my dear?"

Era was pinned back by the neck against the same tree she once used on her father, only this time Constantine was the one holding on and slicing into every vein penetrable; metaphorically speaking of course.
Yet even in a position such as this her fears seemed to dissipate. Scouts were far behind her, freedom just within her reach…all she had to do was drop the walls. This meeting was even beginning to grow on her, the male who always seemed to be in on the wrong topics and situations providing some twisted sort of safe heaven she needed…despite her vengeful and cruel ways. Eradinel subconsciously knew there was a soft spot for familiarity; with no family to call her own, she really had nothing else to rely on but the continuity of an allying face.
It should matter whose face it was but, in all honesty, Eradinel only cared that her control would never be questioned in the end.
This would not stop her from being what and who she is, however it would spark a turning point for the girl.
“Yes.” She finally burst out; barking angrily in all directions and shooting a cold stare toward Constantine. “A grave I created…for my father! I would do it again any day, again and again.”
