Rhian blinked, then smiled at Faolan - one unlike her others, a sort of shy, tentative smile that was eerily like her Mama's. "You think so? I don't want to mess up. . ."
Ellandra blinked - very, very slowly, it seemed like her eyes didn't want to open again. "Mmm....... not until............ Sam's ready........ to sleep too...."

"You wonnae mess up, Rhian. Elle an' me will teach you how t' help us take care o' th' bairns," Faolan said softly, smiling at the Essentic.
Zia looked up at Elle. "You have to be awake for that?" It gestured to the blanket, raising an eyebrow.

Rhian nodded,, and looked down at the sleeping baby once more. "You want her back?"
Ellandra nodded tiredly. "He needs supported, Ziazan, I can't leave him without it...."

"Oh. He seems to be eating more than Bel was," Ziazan observed, watching the lump of blanket. "Is that normal?"
Faolan bit his lip a moment in thought. While he wanted Rhian to feel like she belonged and was actually enjoying that she was boding with her little sister, he wanted very much to hold his baby girl. "Um . . . yeah. I wanna hold her again."

"Well, Ziazan, they are different people," Ellandra said, yawning. "But I think he's finished now. . . why don't you and Keagan take him for a bit, hmm?" Much as she didn't want to let go of her little baby boy, she was just so tired. Sleep was tugging at her insistently now, and she couldn't resist its pull much longer.
Tilting her hea a little, Rhian stroked the baby's wrinkled cheek with a finger, then handed her over to Faolan. "Here," she said simply, getting up from the chair - in case Keagan or Ziazan wanted to sit down with the other baby or something - and moved back a few steps to look on. Her antennae flicked as she tok in all the emotions around the room, including the twins'. They felt different than the more mature beings around them, which was interesting and mysterious to the flutterby Essentic.

Ziazan picked up the infant when Elle handed him over, blinking a little. It knew what to do simply from having gleaned it by touching others, so it placed the baby against its shoulder and rubbed Sam's back till he burped. "Do I just hold him now?"
Faolan snuggled his baby daughter close, chuckling a bit at Zia. "You can if'n you want, or you can let your granda hae a chance t' hold a baby."
"Damn right," Keagan said, going over to get Sam. Soon as he had the infant, Zia hopped down from the bed and went over to Rhian.
A nurse came in moments later and got both the infants to take them back to the nursery and shoo the two men and the two Essentics out so Elle could rest.

Ellandra dropped into an exhausted sleep almost immediately after everyone left the room, worn out from labor and the stress it had induced. However, she wouldn't have avoided going through it. . . not for anything in the world.
As they were herded outside, Rhian looked back over her shoulder, hoping that she'd find the place she settled into in this family soon, before it grew to be a problem for anyone else.
