I like it. I actually really like the parts where you stop and play lead and don't use multi track recording. Its something we're so used to having that it makes the whole thing stand out more.
The solo fits nicely.
I agree. As a more acoustic guitar-oriented person, I like multiple things going on at once. However, it needs to be executed a little better, I think.
Also, the transition from kinda clean to the overdriven should have had a small pause or something because it was like cleanish, cleanish, cleanish, press pedal while the notes were still playing.
