I use a crappy Olympus 1050SW camera. It's 10 megapixels but the pics come out blurry gonk
Do you have any suggestions on how I could improve? :3

Well, if you want to stay with a P&S for now, I'd recommend getting something from Sony because they use Carl Zeiss lenses which is probably the best thing you can have for a P&S. If you're looking for an upgrade, I'd suggest getting a Canon EOS 350D or -- dare I say -- Nikon D40x. In terms of you improving, it depends; do you shoot in manual or automatic? Post processing is good and all, but you should be taking the pictures, not your camera.

well, I think they're quite good since you say that you are fairly new to photography. You might wanna use a Sony camera, just like Spread Damage said, but I think there's no rush. For several reasons:
first off, it seemes to me that you are already have a (quite well defined) style, which I find absolutely remarkable since I know lots of people that are supposedly "veteran photographers" and couldn't take a special picture to save their lives... so yeah. cuttin to the chace, I think you have talent.
secondly, don't think it's mandatory to change your camera to imrove your photography skills. better cameras work wonders on the pic itself, not on how (un)inspired it might be. I'm sure you must have been impresed at least once by those old photos; so, work on this talent I said (I believe) you have :]
and thirdly, once you have improved enough, you'll know better what kind of camera would rather fit you. ^^
and now, if you don't mind a little feedback... my favorite pictures are Beach, Beach2, Sunset and Hidden; they have that vintage touch... Climbing is a really good one, too.
as for Glowinf Field and Perched, they are cool like this, but if you would've edited the colors a little to deepen them, they might have looked a lil` better. but that's just me. (of course, if you prefer non-edited photography, forget I just suggested that)

Well, Airy, you thought wrong. Having a better camera, or at least a better camera than she has now, will help her understand the mechanics of photography, which does in fact improve her skills. That's why I recommended her a starter camera. Point & shoot cameras aren't necessarily for photography, hence it's name. They have their limits. With a DSLR you can understand so much more. I only recommended her a Cybershot because I don't know what her budget is like. I would never recommend someone to upgrade from a P&S to another one if they're just starting and have enough to afford a DSLR.
I'm not even going to touch that veteran photographer comment because that makes no sense at all.

My mum got me my current camera for my birthday this year so it may take a while for me to warm her up to the thought of buying me a new one. I definitely want a camera from either Canon or Nikon. As far as my research goes they're the leading brands atm. I have a Sony camera atm too which can take pics in high def so I try to use that for things that are close up eg. the butterfly pic. emo unfortunately my budget its 1500 and below.

I might try and enhance the colours on some of my pics a bit more and tinker around with them. I'm happy to learn that you think I have some talent in photography  you don't know how great and ego boosting that is for me <3 I think there are some points where I can improve on though. Any suggestions in term of composition?

If you can you should try finding a used EOS 350D (Rebel XT) and get a f/1.8 50mm II for it. Or the Nikon equivalent. My friend said you learn a lot perspective by having a prime lens. I'd get one myself, but I'm in the market for a new camera because mine died about two months ago. sad

I'd get one myself, but I'm in the market for a new camera because mine died about two months ago. sad I shoot in both actually. Apparently auto is better but I never like the results that come out. I have two separate cameras to shoot with too which confuses me more gonk Haha $1500 isn't that great in terms of wanting to get a good dslr with lenses and accessories emo I still don't know what shutter speed levels do or anything sweatdrop Do you mind telling me why they were odd? omg I thank you soooo much for helping me heart
