I posted this once in the musicians forums a little bit back, I thought I would try here as well.

Recording is something I've wanted to get into for a bit now, and I'm trying seriously learn. I want to be able to at least record a band in segments, Guitar, Bass, Vocals, Drums. What kind of gear would you suggest? I don't know much of anything about the gear I would need, and what price range I should expect.

I'm kinda broke, but I'm not cheep. I want alright stuff, but I don't want complete crap. What brands should I look at when I'm a bit on a budget?

If you're looking for mics, then go for the Shure SM57. It's $99 of professional recording quality plus sex.

And sorry to say, but this topic is better suited for the Musician's subforum. Moving there now.

A decent interface like the M-Audio fast track pro would be nice. it can be found around $130 used on ebay easily. then grab a sm57 or audix i5 for guitars. then you could probably get away with just using some overheads on your drum kit. for getting ideas down behringer's c-2 matched pair would probably work just fine. or even two sm57s.
