I got Dragonsong by Anne McCaffrey at the library last week, but I haven't yet had a chance to start it! I've been sick in bed a few times, but I was so sick I couldn't even read! I want to read the three in the harper trilogy because I've read the first 4 in the regular series and really liked them (all except Moreta - Dragonlady for Pern, for some reason. I had to struggle to finish that one!)
I haven't heard of Sabriel by Garth Nix. If it's young adult, I'm sure I'll like it! What's it about?

I am in the middle of the "Worldwar & Colonization" Series by Harry Turtledove. (fourth book, I think)
It begins in the middle of World War II with aliens (lizards from another galaxy) attacking the world so they can colonize it and make it their own.
I'm not much of a "war" reader, so most of the real history is lost on me, but it is still quite interesting. I like the sci-fi angle, and the characters are believable and interesting.
I started reading it after hubby got halfway through it. I had to see what he was so interested in!

LOL!! Did he finish it? Is he eager for you to finish so you can discuss? I remember Jenni was one of those who stood in line waiting for HP7 and then read it straight through until she was done, but then nobody else she knew was done, so she had to wait to discuss it! Then I took my good sweet time, and when *I* was done with it, she's not interested in discussing anymore and is too absorbed in her WoW to even answer my email discussion! *shakes small fist*

He isn't done yet, but I think he is three books ahead of me. He is reading the last book (of this series... we think) We have discussed bits that we have both read... and it is fun having a few inside jokes relating to this series (not that we didn't already have some inside jokes of our own!)
Truth!
Harry Turtledove is known for writing "alternate history", which I suppose these are, but when you toss in the lizards, it makes it sci-fi or fantasy to me.
"Alternate history"just sounds so uninteresting to me, but I like this stuff so far.
Awww! I'm sure you found someone to discuss it. I hear a few people have read that book.

My Jason doesn't read books. stare I don't think there's a novel out there I can get him to read! But the odd thing is that he reads magazines and online articles and I don't!
Inside jokes are the best! FUN=FISHSTICKS!!
Yeah, have any of you read all the harry potters? I have a few questions on the last one I'm wanting to discuss, and will do so through PM and not here cuz I don't want to spoil things for those who haven't read it but might in the future! (Or might see the movie when they're all out!)

I love books, I am on a historical fiction kick lately, mostly to do with the Tudors.

Ok, so I've finally read (well actually listened to) Memoirs of a Geisha. So much better than the movie was. I wish I would have read it first.

I agree Rue!! It's really kind of an amazing story, hard to believe that it wasn't real.

Yeah I thought it was a real account for a long time. It would have been nice if it had been! I love the way some of the things (like the end) are done in the book compared to the movie. I should re-read that one!
I just finished Anne McCaffrey's Dragonsong, Dragonsinger, and Dragondrums trilogy, and I really liked the dragondrums one! I like them all, but the third one was done from someone else's perspective, which at first I thought I wouldn't like, but he's such a neat character!
