These are all from my friend's Eagle scout court of honor! unfortunatlly, they decided to do it at dusk, so the lighting was weird, not only that, but the head table was inside while the rest of the tables were outside facing into the building, and they started an extremely Smokey fire at the beginning of the event. (which was a hanger for anyone who cares)
none of these shots are edited at all yet, so please excuse some of the things that need to be done like cropping and zapping zits ( and suggestions of things to edit would be nice!), there are about 800 photos that I need to go through and edit, but I wanted to post these few to see what you all thought.

[x]I now hate minute made lemonade because that can ruined a lot of really nice shots!

[x] This was a more difficult shot to get than you would think, because the bald man kept making faces like he smelled poop or something, so a picture with him smiling was hard to get, and he was in every picture of the podium because he sat there the whole time. I don't know his real name, so in my mind I referred to him as "poop face"...not the nicest nick-name I have ever thought of... sweatdrop

[x] This was before the actual event when I was figuring out how the lighting was going to work out.

[x] This is a picture of the "Neckerchiefs" that my friend recieved for earning eagle scout. they seemed like a good thing to take a picture of so I tried my best, but who ever decided to lay them out wasn't thinking about taking pictures of them. (also, I was forbidden to touch...)

[x] Poop face talking. (I still don't know his name...)

[x] another boyscout leader talking.

[x] This is my friend, taken from across the area we were given for the event, which is why I am amazed it turned out so well. He really liked his picture, but I need to fix his acne a little...

So...what do you all think?

I'd recommend shooting wide open and stop stopping down for most of these photos - it might just be me.

I'd also retouch the photos, clean up some of the blemishes on the faces.

The colors are a little too flat for me as well. Once again, that's just for me though.

Besides the few that are a little oof, they're not bad, keep it up.

If you want, send me that last photo of your friend, I can run it through a quick retouch (Very quick, I don't have much time to do other peoples photos) and maybe you could take a look at what I think might be better? Who knows, you might hate it. But oh well

lol i said stop stopping down, not shooting down. stoppind down means using smaller apertures, i think i saw a few photos around f8~

and some of them you shot like at f8, you couldve just gone wide open, depending on your lens but it looks like maybe a 4 - 5.6 and maybe shot at iso 100 depending on your focal length. but whatever, as long as you get the photos, thats whats important and ill send you my email in a pm and you can email it to me real quick

ok, I know how to clean up the zits, but how did you get the colors so much nicer!? eek +what else did you do to it? (if anything, I can never tell at this point. I'm still noobish, and I'm a little editing illiterate...)

Oh to explain everything I did would take quite a while. At least, step by step you know? But um... Levels, curves, channel mixer are great friends... Remember you can change the RGB values under levels and curves. Great help as well.

Although it's funny, I thought I replied to this already. Odd. Maybe my age is starting to catch up with me (And my memory, apparently) hahaha

Anyways... It's not that difficult. Just don't grab the hue/saturation and crank it up. Ew. Vibrance can be nice sometimes, just gotta be careful with it. Don't wanna overdo it. I don't use it much, maybe +5 or 10 depending on the photo.

Plus there's always a million different ways to do just 1 little thing in photoshop. Maybe I'll make a video showing you what I did. Just depends on the time frame with photography, my other work and racing (VROOM VROOM!)

Also, are you using photoshop or elements? Big difference between the two.

I use photoshop.
I'm used to using it on a mac, but now i'm on a PC and I cant find anything for some reason...

aah...I forgot about levels! I haven't used photoshop for a while (since before my senior year of high school ended) so I am still getting used to it again.

You cant be that old! your to much like this guy cool
