Overview: Life is a bit reserved and has remained very true to her formal upbringing. Generally she is polite and straightforward, though she can be harsh, particularly to her twin brother, Death. Her expressions tend to be neutral or a mild scowl. Though smiles used to be much more common from her, she rarely treats anyone to them. Life has developed trust issues, and very, very rarely lets anyone get too close to her, physically and emotionally. Serious and cautious, she sticks to the rules, so long as she agrees with them. If she doesn't, she'll not only tell you why, but she'll see to it that something is done right away. She is patient up to a point, and then her infamous temper is let loose. And that is not something you wish to see. Ever.

History
Before Dying Life (Gwendoline Delfin) appeared in [The Nameless Village] her home was with a small village called Sotaria. In the Village of Sotaria the people have no natural magic abilities nor do they have any high-tech equipment. Instead, they rely on their religion.
Sotaria's religion is based on the concept that after you die your spirit is assigned a "job," usually this is an angel type position. This "job" is decided before you are created and brought into this world; it is the deciding factor of what natural talents a person will have. Most people do not know what their "job" will be, but the basis of Sotarian life is built from actually knowing your predestined "job."
Most people go to some form of reader and are merely told their "job" and then that person bases their life from that. Members of the military are different. After puberty (usually) a future military member goes through a process called The Binding Ritual. This ritual spiritually binds a deceased soul (being that soul is actually one of the possible "jobs") to a military candidate. This soul can then work with it's host to unlock hidden powers. These powers are a combination of the bound soul's abilities and the abilities of the host's job.
When Gwen went for her Binding she was a normal military academy student who had blue eyes, strawberry-blonde hair, and a strong sense of responsibility and dedication to her village. Unfortunately, after her brother's failed Binding and subsequent death, her's was officially "canceled". That, obviously, is not the end of the story.
When Gwen heard of her brother's death, she went ballistic, pushing past the sages and into the decimated ritual room. Upon entering the room and seeing her brother's lifeless body on the floor, the soul destined to bind with her leaped into her body. This was partially because the ritual hadn't quite ended for Lamont, so the gateway was still open.
In a fit of combined anger, sorrow, and desperation, Gwen first blew away the sages that tried to intervene, killing most of them. Then she went to her brother and reconnect the souls to Lamont's body and healed him. During the revival, all four of their souls (two from each) were pulled closer together. This gave them the ability to more easily move between forms and to unlock even more forms and powers.
On the down side, Lamont could no longer physically grow. Because Gwen was sustaining Lamont's life, her soul was plunged into an accelerated state of dying. Additionally, if Gwen were to die, Lamont would have nothing to keep him alive and would shortly die as well. Physically, both were disabled, Gwen becoming blind and Lamont loosing his senses of touch and taste.
Within Sotaria there had been a group which formed that was against the binding ritual. They hated it because some people who went through it became insane and murdered their friends and family. They over powered the guards and went after Gwen and Lamont in an attempt to kill them.
To save their lives, Lamont and Gwen fled from Sotaria and into the wilderness. They created the aliases Living Death and Dying Life as a way to protect and hide themselves. They struggled to survive until they came across a large village. They robbed and thieved and learned how to live with the help of their new powers. Life was even able to learn how to "sense" her surroundings and find a way past her blindness. Unfortunately, they were caught by the authorities and sentenced to be hanged. In a wonderful display of trickery and acrobatics, they escaped and left the town for good.
Traveling again, they learned more about fighting for food and surviving in harsh conditions. One day they were found by a scout from The Village Hidden in Towns. This scout was kind enough to bring them back with him. He found them a place to live and told them where to go for school.
The two siblings lived in this village and excelled thanks to their experience in the slums and the wild. The village had become their home and they promised to protect it with their lives, and so they did. Years went by and they grew each day. But on one fateful afternoon, all hell broke loose.
An unknown enemy had attacked the village and war broke out. The village leaders had gone missing and the town's military was left to fight the battle on their own. Many were injured greatly, but hundreds more died, murdered by the terrible foe. In the end of the war, the village was left in ruins.
After some time, the remaining members of The Village Hidden in Towns worked to rebuild the town, bringing it back to its former glory. They had to steal, tick, and basically do what they did best, but it paid off. The village was rebuilt as [The Nameless Village], a place for those of dead lands and those who have been cast away by their families. This is where it all began again....
