And was I the only one who's was ecstatic that the new movie actually got Watson mostly right? No fat, bumbling, doofus sidekick, yay!
No, you're not! I was well pleased with that. biggrin

They did a fine job on Holmes himself too, honestly. He is definitely a fair amount closer than the older hunting-cap depictions, from what I've read so far (I'm about half way through the stories now, in my giant Tome O' Sherlock). In fact, my liking of that movie in general spurred my husband to tell me that a lot of it was far closer to the books than previous stuff, and I should read them if I enjoyed it. 3nodding It was a good suggestion.

*grumbles*

Don't get me wrong, I liked the first couple of Anita Blake novels, but she just took a good idea and RUINED it. Seriously, she has to give Anita a brand new power in every damn book just to get her out of whatever situation she's in, not to mention that just about every male supernatural creature that comes across her and isn't killed either has sex with her or falls in love with her.

The only author I've read in the paranormal romance category right now that I actually like is Patricia Briggs with her Mercy Thompson novels.

Oh well currently I'm working on the Malazan Book of the Fallen series by Steven Erikson.

This pickled vegetable...

I'm on the second book of the Elric Saga.

It kinda pissed me off yesterday because they published it in a way that this extra short story by Moorcock was in the front instead of the back (where extra short stories are supposed to go) and I got really confused. I just started reading and was like "WTF? Who are all these people!? Where's my main character? Erekose? Erekose who?"

... could kick your a** !!
