I think they're not getting enough attention lately. I think vampires are getting too much attention. Is anyone sick of vampire's now and ready to move onto something new? If so Demons is where it's at!

What I really want to see is more fantasy books with elves in them.

But, I know what you mean. I'm tired of all the vampire novels/series out there.

Except if there was a book with demons in them I demand for there to be angels too. You can't have one without the other.

You're quite right. Demons just aren't Demons without Angels. That's what my book is about. A Demon with a Guardian Angel.

I like vampires -- not the Twilight brand, though. I like the Anne Rice ones. I'd take Lestat over that Cullen brat any day.

Buuuuut on the subject of demons, it depends what kind of demons you're talking about. InuYasha-style demons I couldn't care less about; I've had enough of them to last me a lifetime. <<;

I do like demons, though. I went through a phase a while back and need to go back and edit some things.
*COUGH*click me for a story with plenty of plot-holes*COUGH*
My demons are brightly coloured and their Hell is pretty much an alternate earth complete with corrupted bureaucrats and politicians.
That was the intent, anyway. I got a little sidetracked with it. D;

I don't even know what InuYasha Demons are. And I agree, I like vampires but only the real ones. I don't consider the Twilight vampires real vampires. I call them "Twilighters".
And my Demons hell is basically an office building. Sort of a DMV and a bad hotel mixed into one.So you can imagine how awful it is.

I don't know about loving or hating demons, they can make a story more interesting though if done the right way. Kim Harrison has done a fantastic job with her demons; they have souls and are an awful lot like humans, just with less conscious.

I love demons. My favourite genre of books is Urban fantasy, so I'm into the whole vampire, werewolf etc stuff. But I agree that vampires are getting old...well at least the whole "sexy" modern vampirei s getting old..if someone does something different with them then I'd be fine with that.

InuYasha-type demons are, like, fox-demons (like Shippou), dog-demons (Sesshoumaru or InuYasha), wolf-demons (Kouga)... demons associated with an animal or something. They're popular in roleplays on Gaia and in anime/manga series.
I used to read InuYasha and watch the show, so I've had my fill of them.

Altogether, though, I like the opposite-of-angels sort of demons better.

Oh, and one of my pet peeves is when people are like, "fallen angels are children of an angel and a demon."
That's just. No.
A fallen angel -- to me, at least -- should be an angel that's been kicked out of Heaven for one reason or another.

Can I have some options in the poll that aren't a) complete outliers and b) aren't complete opposites. I don't really like those extremes, and I neither love nor hate demons.

Personally I have something between like and dislike, not that I don't care, but that I judge demons based off their individual characteristics, per story basis. Old mythology demons are fun, new mythology (christianity style) aren't as much fun. Anime demons are getting boring real fast, and movie style demons (reality style) aren't very much fun either. I like Greek 'demons'

I'm actually working on writing a paranormal series that incorporates anything supernatural, and quite a bit of it is demons. In fact, they pretty much direct the series, where as vampires are merely bit players or sit on the sidelines. Most of my main characters are either witches, demons, faerie or hybrids (part demon, part human, etc.) I understand the exhaustion of the vampires. Some authors like Sherrilyn Kenyon and Laurell K. Hamilton can pull it off because their books are more versatile and not just abut vampires. Kenyon's creatures aren't even really vampires, not in the classic sense, anyway. One group is a race cursed by the Greek God Apollo and the immortal ones live off of souls... not blood. The other group are warriors brought back from the dead to gain vengeance and hunt the former.
Hamilton, on the other hand, focuses on all supernaturals... not just vamps. One series focuses on the Faerie, and the other series unites Necromancer, Vampire, and Lycanthrope... the Necromancer being the main character.
It's more of the newer authors jumping on the bandwagon that start to dry the genre up. They keep trying to stand out by making their vampires unique, but all they are really doing is beat a dead bush. That's why I chose to expand to incorporate anything and everything supernatural or mythological that I can get my hands on.

(Oops, I babbled again. Going to bed now.)
