I really don't know... I have no clue.

But there was one episode. One when Zuko attacked his father on the day of the black sun. His father told him that banishment was too easy a punishment for him like he did his mother and attempted to kill Zuko with a lighting strike but Zuko redirected the it. Also at the end of the final episode Zuko visited his father in the jail cell that he was held in and asked where his mother is.
(One thing I do know she's alive somewhere... and since the war is over I know Zuko's going to find her.)

They could just continue the story about that by doing a little mini series where they got to find his mother ninja

Maybe he found her, because they all seem to be happy when Sokka's painting their pictures.
[well, until after they see how their drawn]

Doubtful.
I prefer to think that they're leaving it open for a new season.

Even though I know they aren't.
