Special accessories: Tansen wears a silver heart shape locket around his neck. Inside of it a picture of him and his deceased fiance. It is Tansen's most cherished possession and he never takes it off. Tansen also wears thick bandages around his hands. The reason for this is because his hands are covered in rough burn scars from his experiments with kido and he prefers not to show them off.
Shikai: Tsumari-Renkin (Ultimate alchemy)
Appearance: While in it's sealed form, Tansen's zanpakuto resembles a standard katana with an intricate pattern of two dragons on a dazzling gold guard and an emerald green hilt.
When released, Tsumari-Renkin grows a few inches in length and the blade is covered in mysterious cryptic symbols that are of unknown origin.

Ability: In it's shikai form, Tansen's zanpakuto gives him the power of advanced alchemic reactions, which allow him to break any matter down into base elements and recreate it into something completely different.
Tansen's most common transmutations with Tsumari-Renkin are as follows:
Golem: Tansen takes minerals from the ground and forms a powerful looking golem about the size of a house from the transmuted earth. Part of Tansen's reiatsu is also transmuted into the golem, enabling it to move on it's own. So far Tansen has transmuted golem giants, worms, dragonflies, panthers and dragons.
Cannon: Once again taking minerals from the ground, Tansen forms a colossal cannon about the same size as his golem, complete with a special gunpowder synthesized from minerals and reishei (Spirit particles)
Tansen Dummy: Basically a makeshift mannequin made to look like Tansen. It is mostly hollow, but filled to the brim with his special gunpowder. Excellent for surprise attacks. Part of Tansen's reiatsu is put into the dummy, making it capable of basic movement.
Weapon Synthesis: Tansen commonly transmutes Tsumari-Renkin itself into a weapon better suited to battle his opponent, such as a lance, hammer, or wristblades.
Shockwave: Tansen takes the surrounding air and liquifies it; then he reduces it's volume and vaporizes it instantly in order to create a powerful shockwave that can shatter bones. As it is an invisible attack, it's a very useful technique.
However, transmuting the elements in the air is more taxing than transmuting those in the ground and requires more reiatsu and concentration to do so. Because of this, Tansen rarely uses this technique and saves it for serious battles.
Bankai: Hijutsu no Tsumari-Renkin (Secret Art of Ultimate Alchemy)
Appearance: Tansen's shinigami bottoms turn white, his torso is covered in bandages, and he's wearing a platinum white coat with the same symbols that his shikai has along the center, back and sleeves. (It looks like the red coat Edward Elric wears in Full metal alchemist) His hair grows longer and floats behind him and his eyes become filled with an erie yellow light, creating a very intimidating an ominous appearance.
- Credit goes to Michiko (Spellbound Truth)Powers: This is Tansen's ultimate form and it increases his speed and strength significantly. His alchemy is also ten times stronger than it is in shikai form, allowing him to transmute things larger, faster, and easier.
Hijutsu no Tsumari-Renkin also has another ability: It leaves Tansen void of all emotions. This makes him both cold and calculating as he battles in this form. He can tell friend from foe, but other than that he has little control over his power.
The downside is that unlike some Bankai, Tansen's Bankai does not have a second form and it consumes extremely large amounts of reiatsu. Prolonged use of it can result in his life span being shortened and even death. The longest that Tansen can stay in Bankai without threat to his life is five minutes. After that, his body is left virtually drained of reiatsu and may take several days for him to fully recover.

Binding spells (bakudō)
* 1. Sai (塞, Restrain)— Locks a target's arms in place behind their back.
* 4. Hainawa (這縄, Crawling Rope) — An energy rope entangles a target's arms.
* 8. Seki (斥, Repulse) A semi-transparent circular wall, building itself outward from the shinigami's arm, manifested from the user's reiatsu that temporarily paralyzes and repels whatever strikes it
* 9. Geki (撃, Strike) — Engulfs a target in red light, completely paralyzing them.
Incantation: "Disintegrate, you black dog of Rondanini!! Look upon yourself with horror and then claw out your own throat!"
*21. Sekienton (赤煙遁, Red Smoke Escape) — Creates a blast upon activation and is used like a ninja's smoke bomb.
*26. Kyakko (曲光, Curving Light) — Hides the target from sight, by bending light. The spell has the ability to totally hide the presence and reiatsu of the user or specified object
*30. Shitotsu Sansen (嘴突三閃, Beak-Stab Triple Beam) — Forming a golden triangle with one's finger, it shoots three beams of light that pin the target to one place on a surface, slamming into his or her body in three places in a shape of a perfect triangle
*39. Enkosen (円閘扇, Arc Shield) — Summons a shield of condensed reiatsu to block opponents' attacks.
* 61. Rikujōkōrō (六杖光牢, Six Rods Prison of Light) — Summons six thin, but wide, beams of light that slam into a target's midsection, holding them in place. The target is then unable to move any part of their body including the parts that were not struck by the beams.
Incantation: "Carriage of Thunder. Bridge of a spinning wheel. With light, divide this into six!"
Destructive spells (hadō)
*1. Sho (衝, Thrust) — Pushes the target away from the caster.
* 4. Byakurai (白雷, Pale Lightning)— Fires a concentrated bolt of lightning from the caster's forefinger.
* 31. Shakkahō (Shot of Red Fire) ) — Fires a ball of red energy at a target.
Incantation: "Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Inferno and pandemonium, the sea barrier surges, march on to the south!"
* 33. Sōkatsui (蒼火墜, Blue Fire, Crash Down)— Fires a burst of blue spiritual energy at a target in a similar manner to 31, but over a wider area and with more power.
Incantation: "Ye lord! Mask of flesh and bone, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Truth and temperance, upon this sinless wall of dreams unleash but slightly the wrath of your claws."
* 66. Sōren sōkatsui (双蓮蒼火墜, Twin Lotus Blue Fire, Crash Down) — Essentially a doubled version of 33, this spell fires two shots of blue fire with greater potency than the single-shot variety.
Incantation: "Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! On the wall of blue flame, inscribe a twin lotus. In the abyss of conflagration, wait at the far heavens."
*88. Hiryūgeki zoku shinten raihō (飛竜撃賊震天雷砲, Flying Dragon-Striking Heaven-Shaking Thunder Cannon) — Fires a gigantic electricity blast of spiritual energy in a fashion similar to a laser resulting in an truly enormous explosion. Tansen has trained with kido a lot but is still unable to fully use it's power. The only time that he can unleash this kido's true destructive power is when he is in his Bankai Form.
Other Spells
* Mirror Door (Kyōmon) Creates a glass-like barrier which is difficult to break from the outside, but quite simple to break from the inside.
History: Tansen came from an incredibly wealthy and powerful family. His father was the owner a military weapons company that supplied a large portion of Japan, making him both feared and respected by all. A very professional man, Tansen's father was often away on business and had little time to spend with his growing son. With his mother dead after giving birth to him, Tansen was left in the care of his personal attendant, Gai Nakamura.
While growing up, Tansen wasn't allowed outside of his mansion and was homeschooled in preparation for him to take over the company and estate in the future. He was taught martial arts in order to defend himself if the situation ever presented itself, as well as how to play the piano and the violen. As he was growing up, Tansen spent much of his time with Gai's half sister, Rose Kaika. She was Tansen's best friend throughout his childhood and the two eventually fell in love.
The moment Tansen's father found out that his son and heir had fallen in love with someone of such low status, Gai and Rose were immediately discharged and told never to go near his son again.
Furious at his father for trying to push away his love, Tansen found Gai on his own and the two of them worked together under his father's watchful eye and slowly began gathering the shares to his company through various connections and funds. After a year, Tansen had successfully accumulated enough shares to take possession of the company from his father and threatened to do so and run it straight into the ground unless he was permitted to see Rose again. He was sixteen years old.
Both astonished and proud, Tansen's father gave in to his son's demand and the two were allowed to see each other again. In addition, Tansen left the shares that he had gathered with Gai, who he trusted to take good care of his father's company as his buisiness partner until he was experienced enough to run it himself.
Years passed by and Tansen and Rose's relationship continued to grow more intimate with each passing day, the two of them hopelessly in love. At the age of twenty, Tansen finally decided to make his move and ask Rose to marry him. At the same time, Rose had convinced herself to gather her courage and tell Tansen that she was pregnant with his child.
However, tragedy struck on the day the two lovers decided to tell each other, and the two were attacked by a rampaging hollow. Tansen's body was crushed and thrown into the sea where he drowned, but not until after he saw the monster devour the love of his life before his very eyes.
Waking up in Rukongai, Tansen wandered throughout Soul Society for some time searching for Rose. He eventually came to understand that if he were to become a high ranking officer in the Gotei Thirteen, he would have access to various resources and could potentially find his lost love. And that's just what he decided to do.
Never one for fighting, Tansen had difficulty in the shinigami academy, despite his powerful combat skills. But with the image of him and Rose side by side in his head, no obstacle was too difficult for Tansen. He trained rigorously at night to the point of exhaustion, and using his buisiness skills, made sure to work hard and impress the right people in order to make connections.
Eventually Tansen succeeded in graduating from the shinigami academy in a mere two years, a feat that had never been heard of before in the history of the Sereitei. He was immediately assigned to a squad and began his official career as a shinigami.
Realizing that he had exceptional talents with kido and reiatsu manipulation, Tansen joined squad five and was appointed Seventh Seat by his Captain, Nagiko Shebasaburo. Under strict training from Captain Nagi, who Tansen both respected and admired, the young shinigami rose to the rank of Fifth Seat and slowly began to have his name spread as a prodigy.
After a few more months, Tansen was acknowledged by Captain Evil Wolf of Squad Ten, and became her Vice Captain. After more months of grueling training, both by day and night, Tansen successfully achieved the power of Bankai and was eventually accepted as the new Captain of Squad Eight, the Central Intelligence Division. All of this was acomplished within one year of his becoming a shinigami.
With his new rank and position of power, Tansen continues to search for Rose as he goes on with his new life as a Captain of the Gotei Thirteen...
Powers:
Tansen possess great skills in both reiatsu tracking and reiatsu concealment as well as shape manipulation. He uses these abilities frequently during his missions in order to throw his opponent off guard and overpower them.
Saiishu Chinkonkyoku (Final Requiem): One of Tansen's special attacks that he uses in combat. Fully utilizing his skills with kido, Tansen uses his own altered version of the Kyomon Mirror Door and traps his opponent in an invisible box, before following up with a powerful attack against the helpless opponent.
Jouzai Enkou (Cleansing Flame): One of Tansen's special attacks that he uses in combat. Using kido, Tansen creates sparks of electricity and then using alchemy, he adjusts the oxygen density and uses the more flammable gasses such as hydrogen in the air to create powerful blasts of fire. While it may be a powerful technique, this attack requires extreme control and precision on Tansen's part and can be difficult for him to control.
