Alastar limped out of his hut. His pet cockatrice, Richter, trotting close behind him.

It was hard for Persephone not to dash down the hill leading to the professor's hut, for she was excited about her N.E.W.T. lesson. The last lesson had been so epic, she was sure something else exciting was in store today. Persephone reached the hut and saw the old professor already waiting outside his hut. "Good morning, Sir," she said brightly.

"Hello, Persephone, do you know if Marduke will be joining us today? I would like to introduce you to my pet, Richter." he motiond to the large chicken standing beside him. "As you can tell, he is a cockatrice. Say 'hello', Richter." and the cockatrice walked toward Persephone. It stood up straight and tall so that it was just as tall as her. It leaned forward and started to shiff her face. After a moment it sqwaked and nipped at her nose affectionatly.

Persephone laughed and petted Prichter on the head a few times. Her smile faded when she rememered the professor's question. "I dunno, Professor. I told her you wanted to see her in your office, but she didn't tell me if she was going to go or not..."

"Ahh." Alastor sighed. If this kept up he would have to have a talk with Xenia about Marduke skipping classes. "Oh well. On with the lesson. We will be working on Basalisks today. The King of Serpents. Tell me, how are Basalisks born?"
