The crowded dining Hall, even off peak hours, thrummed with activity like a low thunder, somewhat reminiscent of Ista's nearly clockwork storms that helped maintain it's tropical atmosphere. What was even more remarkable to think about, was that Ista was one of Pern's smallest Weyrs. It made it feel smaller with the tight crowding, which certainly caused enough grumbles, and, equally bizarrely, made it's most noteworthy quality stand out even more sharply. Specifically the fact that somehow this relatively tiny Weyr had not one or two, but SIX Queen dragons. The golden giants that grew up to be the largest and also rarest of Pern's legendary dragons. Yet Ista had six, currently under one roof. This on top of the hedonistic reputation that any Weyr had among most holds made it truly surreal, especially for new Arrivals, who were met with, often enough, glances of hostility from other candidates and Weyrborn, either fearing for their own chances or for their own space. Some were friendly enough of course, but nothing could fully drown out the prickling feeling of the political tides currently ripping through Ista's narrow corridors. Or apparently give full warning in a crowded hall when one young arrival was accidentally jostled by another inhabitant of the Weyr, who gave a short grunt of surprise before apologizing. "Sorry, tight quarters." The man's voice noted, just loud enough to be heard across the thunder of quiet voices. S'kagi's voice, one of the wingleaders of Ista.

Enlali's arrival in the Wyer had been, well, honestly rather strange. She hadn't really known what to expect, not at all, but what she found was... well, crowded... she was a simple thing really, used to simple pleasure and simple living, her life hadn't ever been filled with glamour and splendour, but it had been very well suited to her, rising early, working around the house with her mother... it didn't seem that that would be too different, chores had to be done, that was life, but what she hadn't expected was the number of people. They were just, well, they were everywhere! And honestly, as a young woman far more used to life on the Cothold, she wasn't honestly sure that right away she could say she especially liked it...
After spending the better part of her say so far replacing the sheets in the chambers, a task that had actually served to remind her pleasantly of home for a time, Enlali had made her way down to the dining hall to find a meal for herself. She wasn't truly hungry to be honest, the atmosphere was so thick, so hot, that the idea of actually eating had not been a pleasant one, but equally she knew the merits of a full stomach well enough to know that she would suffer for not eating. She was, even this short time in learning to push away the unhappy glances she found herself the receiving end of. It wasn't their fault, the place was full, and she was just another person to take up space and get under foot... they could hardly be blamed with not being endlessly happy to see her. It would do her no good to take it to heart...
Moving through the crowd in the dining room she had actually started to feel partially invisible, not actually a sensation she minded either. She was used to working under her own power, and the lessons she had be begun to learn on the workings and ways of this place were honestly fascinating, it was going to be a great while before she could utterly find herself used to her knew surroundings she was sure, and it would take even longer for her to recall all the new things she was required to know, but the process was certainly going to be very, deeply interesting to her. Her height and her quiet nature however were shown to be something of a disadvantage a moment later when she was very literally bumped into, she stumbled slightly but her footing wasn't lost, and she was able to smile and wave away the apology she was offered. It was crowded, how could anyone help bumping into one another, it was nice that there had at least been an apology.
"Oh No matter!" She replied, "Don't worry yourself." Her soft voice was actually rather happy as her lips lifted into a friendly grin. "I should really be paying more attention to where I'm stepping..." He seemed nice, he had a friendly face as far as she could tell, and he'd actually stopped to speak... all of these factors worked together to make this already a fairly pleasant meeting in her book. Then again, she was still finding meeting so many people novel, and finding herself increasingly more greatful for the fact that she had never found a reason to call herself shy.

"It's narrow quarters and tight spaces these day's." S'kagi explained with a smile that only twitched the scarred side of his mouth. "You're a new face." He added. It was hard to keep track of the hordes of new candidates in all the fuss, but he was fairly sure he hadn't seen her before. "I'm sorry that you're seeing our lovely Weyr in such a state." And of course on top of everything else the rumors flying around about Favan, which he didn't dare ask Helirra about.

For the most part rumours and whispers went right over her head and past her notice. She didn't really know anyone here yet so she didn't really have anyone who was likely to think they should tell her anything. It didn't really matter to her, whispers of names would make sense to her one day she was sure, but for now she had to focus enough just to find her place from one place to another.
The smile of course led to her eyes flicking to linger very slightly on it for a moment, she'd seen scars before, but very few to the face, it wasn't polite to look however, nor to ask. Certainly not to gawk. "New indeed," She stated instead, taking that turn in conversation as a way to pull her attention from contemplating the wound that had caused that scar. "I have barely been here any time at all yet... but there's no need to apologise, I can definitely imagine it could be far worse, and people don't take such a great deal of getting used to.." She was still smiling, it was nice to speak with someone. "Oh, forgive my poor manners, my name is Enlali.." She smiled again half holding out a hand.. for a moment she hesitated, not certain whether or not the greeting was appropriate. She supposed her ignorance might well be forgiven though..?

"Wingleader S'kagi. My partner is Coriath." He offered in return, shifting a partially empty cup of Klah to his off hand. "Welcome to Ista then, Enlali." He gave her a wry smile, not quite sure he believed that it took so little getting used to. "I was also Hold born. It's a big change." He offered, hoping it offered her some degree of lifeline. "Hopefully it's not too strange. Or at least not as strange as I know some of the stories make it sound."

"Wingleader..?" Her face shifted into a suitably surprised and impressed expression even as she shook his hand, she'd not expected someone with any semblance of rank to bother speaking with her... "It is very nice to meet you." Coriath was nice name as well... she passingly wondered what colour dragon this Wingleader had, but for the moment at she was too keen to speak of other things.
His explanation of his own past she felt a real rush of gratitude, though she had never expected to be the only person in the Weyr to have come from a hold, but it didn't mean that it wasn't nice to have met someone who could sympathise with her at least a little. "I come from a Cothold, rather a small one a that but I think the change will become a good thing, it's so different here." She smiled up at him again, lifting a hand to tug absently at a strand of her honey blonde hair. "Though it isn't quite hedonistic society was warned to expect.. the tales do appear to be rather exaggerated. It's still exciting... how long have you been here..? Did it take you long to become accustomed to this place..?" She was sure she was probably asking too many questions... but she was curious, it was nice to speak to someone.
She did feel that she stood out a little here however... a rosy cheeked young girl from a small hold, what was she really doing in such a large place..?
