Rules: ~ No posting in a test thread unless it's your test. ~ Limited to 4 posts. You can use less. ~ You have 2 weeks to finish your rp. ~ Must use the battle field type assigned to you. ~ You create a monster of your choice, unless a different rule is specified for that test. ~ Have fun!
1~Ice- Pretty simple with this one. The floor becomes solid ice. There are random chunks of ice protruding from the floor. And of course, you have little to no traction.
2~Desert- Pretty much nothing but massive sand dunes. You sink down into the sand, which slows you down a LOT. If the wind blows, the sand gets kicked up, which obscures vision.
3~Open Field- A plain grassy field with nothing on it.
4~Ocean- A mini ocean about 40 feet deep. There are five floating platforms for battlers to stand on. The plat forms bob around and it's really hard to keep your balance on them.
5~Dense Forest- The arena is packed from wall to wall with dense, tropical trees. As in any tropical jungle, there are lots of vines and other such things to get tangled up in.
6~Land of Fire- Parts of the arena floor sink away, leaving behind pits of lava. Also, pillars of fire erupt from the floor periodically.
7~Concrete- A plain concrete floor.
8~The Abyss- Near complete darkness engulfs the arena. Dark energy is abundant in this field.
9~The Sanctuary- Opposite of the Abyss. Light energy fills the arena. Its very bright!
10~No floor- The floor drops away leaving a pit filled with spikes. There are levitating platforms at varying heights, going all the way to the top of the arena. It's hard to jump from platform to platform, and trust me, you don't want to fall.

And your testing room is.... 4~ Ocean: A Mini ocean about 40 feet deep. There are 5 platforms for you to stand on, but they bob and shake if you disturb the water and get slippery with big splashes.

Labryna poured over the notes she had made from Orientation on the Exams. It seemed that both the terrain and her opponent would be chosen randomly, which just made it aggrivating for Labby as she'd have to be planning for the unexpected. Out of all the terrain types she hoped to get the desert. It'd feel more like home than these vast oceans of trees which surrounded the school. Since it was looking like she'd have to be doing a lot of moving whatever terrain was chosen for her, she chose an outfit like she would have worn while training with her mom. A pair of loose fitting dark brown pants with strips of leather for reinforcement had a slightly tighter dark green shirt tucked into them. And a knee length outer robe was worn over the top the color of which matched the pants. Despite the layering the fabric was light and airy, and alowed for superb manueverability.
Looking at the clock she noticed it was nearly time to go, so she stood up and strapped her staff around her back. For a moment the yellow light in the staff flashed brightly then dimmed, as if it knew where Labby was heading toward and was anxious to go as well. "They said someone would be here soon to escort me," Labby said to no-one in particular, "but I wonder why I couldn't just walk to the arena." She had seen the great building off to the side of the campus of course and assumed that this would be where the exams were held. "Well, I'll find out soon enough."
As if on cue someone knocked on the door and Labby walked over to answer it. "Labryna Bluestar?" inquired a bored looking man in a grey shirt as the door was opened.
"Yes." Labryna said slowly, almost questioning who was asking.
"Come with me." He said then lightly touched her on the shoulder. Suddenly she felt like she was being segmented into many little pieces and felt a great pull as if she were accelertaing very quickly. She tried to shout in fright, but her mouth didn't seem to be connected to her throat anymore, so no sound came out that she could hear. Just as she started to really freak out she was thrown together again and stood on a yellow platform with the man next to her. "Good luck," He said in almost a monotone before he released her shoulder and dissappeared.
She was at a loss, and so surprised that Labby didn't immediately notice her surroundings. However she was shocked into the present when the platform under her rocked slightly and she was forced to steady herself. Remembering that this was probably the exam she pulled out her staff and held it ready while looking around. She was standing on one of five yellow platforms in the area, and all of them floated on what looked to be a vast ocean of water, the depth of which Labryna couldn't begin to fathom.
"Oh crap," she muttered to herself. Of all the terrains they could have dropped her in, the ocean was probably the one she had the least experience with. Never mind her recent trip to the beach, there seemed to be no beach in sight of where she was standing. There was also no way of knowing how large the area actually was. If there were walls they were painted so perfectly that Labryna could not guess where the real water began or ended, nor if the sky above was a ceiling or the actual vast atmosphere. The only things she knew for certain was real were the platforms, which were spaced barely close enough to jump between, and the water directly beneath them. Suddenly a soft splash behind her made Labryna look around quickly and gasp. Standing on another platform as if he had been there all along, which Labryna knew he hadn't, was a tall man who's skin was a deep blue like the ocean water and dressed in armor. The armor was colored such a dark blue on top that it looked black, but faded to such a light blue that it looked almost white on his belly.
When he spoke, his voice reminded Labryna of the vast ocean waves. "Welcome to my home dry lander, as all oceans are home to many. You've come to test yourself, and I've been chosen to test you. Let us begin." Suddenly he leaped in a graceful arc into the air, turned so that he faced downward and dived into the water. Right before he disappeared, Labryna noticed that his legs had melted together and formed a great dark fin that slid gently down into the water with no more than a small splash.

"Oh crap," Labby said again as she stared at where he had dived. This man had such an ovious advantage that Labryna didn't know where to begin. At least it was bright here so there was plenty of light for her to use. Now if only she knew what she should do. For the moment she steadied her legs against the gentle rocking of the platform she stood on and readied her staff in a simple combat stance. The staff itself responded slightly to this as the caps of blue light on either end starting to glow brighter and chilling the air around them slightly.
Gazing around she waited for the other man to make the first move, but as far as she could see right now, she may as well have been alone. The other platforms bobbed in the water slightly, bright light shone down on her, and the wind tickled her hair, but nothing felt threatening and nothing gave any clue as to where her opponent was. Suddenly the platform bucked beneath her making Labby fall to her knees, and unsetting her concentration. "Well geez," She said to no-one in particular, "One would think they wanted to make this challenging." She waited for the platform to calm down, then stood up again.
Truethfully Labby was very apprehensive about this exam. Disquieting thoughts kept passing through her mind every few seconds. If she failed to win would she fail the test, or would she just be graded on her effort? Did they expect her to win this fight in an enviroment so unfamiliar to her? Even if she did need to win, what could she do? All this circled around itself in her mind as she tightened her grip on her staff and waited to see if she could possibly discern any sign of where her opponent was. Like the water around her though this man seemed to be everywhere, but she could never pin him down.
All of the sudden a quiet splash was made behind her, and before she could turn around she was hit by a blunt object like the end of a spear right in her back, and fell to her knees again. By the time she had looked behind her, all that could be seen was a dark tail sliding beneath the waves. Coughing and grunting in pain she stood up and looked around. The man always seemed to appear out of no-where. She needed to gaurd her back. Reaching into the Prismatic Crystal around her neck mentally she quickly drew some yellow light out of the air and shaped it into a hook. Then she tossed it out and it sank into another platform in front of her.
Labby was ready the next time she heard a splash behind her and she whipped around with her staff out to block the blow. Successfully pushing the attack to the side she made to strike at her opponent while he was over extended, but he deftly pulled back and jumped to another platform landing with a grace that she could not match while floating on the water. Labby quickly reached back mentally and pulled the yellow light she had made toward her. It had the desired effect of moving the other platform and bringing it up against hers. Her opponent lept again into the water on the far side of his platform, but wasted no time in swimming in a loop that had him leaping out of the water right at Labby. This time he attacked with the pointed end of what Labby finally saw was a trident, still dripping water and heading toward her chest.
Diving to the side Labryna avoided his attack and his momentum carried the man onto the platform labby had recently pulled up to meet hers. The tips of the trident embedded themselves in the platform and the man laughed, "Very quick dry-lander." Labryna got up and swung her staff at him, the ends glowing bright blue, but the man pulled his trident out and up in a fast blocking manuever. As he deflected Labryna's hasty strike the water clinging to his trident froze when it interacted with the blue light, and he pulled back. "So more than just quick moves mark your attacks." The man commented as he looked at the ice on his trident, now melting into water again. "Very interesting weapon dry-lander. Very interesting."
As the man was talking Labryna grabbed the cord of light again. This time she pulled it and molded it quickly so that the second platform was braced and attached vertically to the first, forming a crude wall. This had taken more energy and time than she had originally thought it would, but she thought she might be able to complete her plan. She just needed to work faster.

Quick as a rip tide the man jabbed his trident at Labryna again. She could do little but hastily deflect it to the side and move to keep from getting skewered. Even that wasn't enough though, as the end of the trident cut into her arm and the man quickly yanked it back. While the cut had not been deep, the return had hurt worse than anything Labryna had felt in combat. Looking down she saw that the wound was not a simple cut, but looked more like it had been torn at repeatedly. The trident must be barbed to slash and tear at the wound on the return stroke. Pushing the pain back as far as she could she readied herself in a fighting position again and struck again. Her attack was deflected again, and she became painfully aware that she was tiring when the back end of the trident jabbed into her gut before she could recover.
As Labryna fell back and recovered her stance, she reached again into her Prismatic Crystal. This time she made ready to release several cords of light at once, and prayed that she'd be able to pull this magic off at the right moment. To distract the man she jabbed her staff at him again the tips glowing a deep blue and, though her attack was deflected again, she was able to land a glancing blow her opponents wrist. He gasped in pain as cold lance of light drove into his wrist and arm from the end of Labby's staff. Immediatly he took a step back as his arm and hand went completely numb and became so much dead weight at his side. Labryna knew that this wouldn't last long so she pressed forward with another set of attacks. Down to one usable arm the man was now hard pressed to wield the trident effectively. They continued to trade blows for a time, niether able to score another big attack, and both growing rather frusterated. Labryna was now breathing heavily, and her staff was feeling heavier and heavier in her hands.
The warrior on the other hand was gradually recovering use of his arm. As feeling returned to his hand he regained a tremulous grip on his trident and began to fight in earnest again. This left Labryna giving more ground than she took and presently her back was pushed against the wall she had pulled over to her platform. A grim smile of victory flashed over the mans face, and he trust forward with his trident intending to trap Labryna to the wall. This was the moment Labryna had been waiting for, and useing all the energy she could muster she pushed herself to the side practically flopping to the ground and letting gravity take over. As she fell she released several strings of orange light praying that they would obey her and that this would work.
One string flew as she had intended and wrapped itself around the trident just behind where it split and forced the pointed ends deep into the upright platfor. The points ended up going completely through and as they did the light split and wrapped around the platform to grab the trident on both ends. Another orange light hit the man straight on the chest and pulled him forward slamming him into the platform next to his weapon. It also wrapped all the way around the platform trapping him to it. Labryna lay on the ground a moment longer recovering her breath, and silently thanking her mom, the stars, and anyone else who happened to be listening that the light had obeyed her.
As she slowly stood up and took hold of her staff again, she turned to face her opponent who was still trapped, but smiling. "You did well Dry-lander, and this test is over. But don't think you defeated me so easily. More than one of us have magic in this place." With that he proformed a rapid series of hand motions and vocal calls that Labryna couldn't understand and raised his arms dramatically. The water around them suddenly jumped into the air like a twenty foot tall wall, and for stood there as though it was frozen as labryna gaped in awe. It all came crashing down, but instead of being crushed Labryna was picked up by the water and carried backwards off the platform. For a wild moment she thought that the man was going to drown her, but then she saw him swimming beside her, freed from her light by the force of the water, and laughing. A vast wave of water carried her, head over heels, upward and through a hidden doorway that looked exactly like part of the bright sky over head. She landed rather hard on her back-side, but was otherwise unhurt for the way she had been expelled and she had to laugh at her opponent's form of humor.
"Did you complete the test?" asked a familiar monotone voice.
"Yes, I believe so."
"Good." Gently, he took hold of Labby's shoulder and she felt again as if she were segmented into a thousand pieces and thrown through the air. She felt too tired to care much though, and the trip passed faster than she remembered. They landed in her room, and without another word the grey suited man disappeared.
Sighing with exaustion Labryna lay her staff on the bed, and slowly pulled off her wet cloths. She replaced them with a dry set of clothes and fell into bed again going into a deep sleep before she even hit the pillow.
