There is actually a subgenre of steampunk known as Neo Victoriania and what that is is a combonation of essentially what is steampunk along with gothic lolita, which is more or less the style I tend to follow. But I must say the dresses that you have links to pictures of are beautiful and would go with nearly any steampunk outfit.

Steampunk really is especially fluid compared to every other subgenre/culture out there. It's not even punk in the way most would classify it. I would say that elements of VG coud be incorporated by Steampunk (and have) while still calling the finished piece (in this case, costume) fully Steampunk.
Besides, I'm saving up for that bustle.

Goth originally grew out of Punk in the late 70's/early 80's. Sooooo...I've recently felt like cobbling it together again into Steamgoth or even Dieselgoth at times. I see it as the Steam/Deisel look with that darker, horror and silent movie inspired edge that goth originally took on when it grew out of punk. I know this will rub purists the wrong way, but historical accuracy is often taken too seriously, IMO.
Also, the Victorian Goth is a subcategory to Romantigoth, which includes the 18th century and the Edwardian period as well.
Although, I would also point out, it's really NOT a bad thing to mix styles. A creative mind could and should experiment with some steamy tech, victorian fashion, and then throw in something radical deathrock or even industrial vibe.

"Those who revel in the brilliance of the Sun,"
I am not going to get all in-depth with this one, so I just say, YES! Many Victorian fashions are used in both goth and steampunk, and quite often both get involved! After all, steampunk is the impossible future of the past, and cyberpunk is todays impossible future. There were goths back then I'm sure, there are goths today, and there are plenty of goths in cyberpunk, so there definately is goths in steampunk and they both (goth and steampunk) base their clothing and styles off of Old Victorian and Neo Victorian fashions. Isn't the world of steampunk great?!?! There are so many possible things that can happen with steampunk!

I agree completely with Amadeo, although I'm more of the pure victorian goth type of person myself though..Haha...
But yes, the world of Steampunk is also quite interesting as well.

It works together quite well in my opinion, very easily. I could even take it up a notch; One could easily make very Steampunk-like props with silver (natch!) or gold coloring rather than the common brass tone, which would go very well with the extremely foppish/gentlemanly look of EGA. For bonus points I suggest that a project be started to write a non-erotic Steamhooligan-ized Kuroshitsuji fan-doujinshi. Would be all too easy to make it work, and the Shinigami already have higher-level tech than normal for the setting, if Grelle's chainsaw-deathscythe is any indicator.

Maurautius hit the nail on the head! good show! As long as steampunks, goths, dieselpunks, history geeks in historical attire and lolitas can be put in the same room and get along, I'm happy. We're all barrowing from eachother's ideas anyways. So a few of us may lean to one or two "labels" more than another. So what? it's the person you're dealing with in the end, not the lifestyle. I know some pretty upbeat goths and very depressing "sweet" lollitas and steampunks who take themselves waaayyy too seriously. When we go off and say "these people should never be seen with these people" or "a ____ should never ____." You really kill it for yourself everybody else too.

I think they're just different places on the same spectrum. There's a lot of gray area in-between.
There's not really any VG in my costumes, but I know a lot of steam punks whose costumes are--sans props--really ambiguous as to whether they're steam punk or Goth Loli. So it mixes easily.
I actually won a $10 coupon to Retroscope fashions but that hardly puts a dent in the price >.< so, I've yet to use it.

"You got your goth in my steampunk!" "Nuh-uh, you got your steampunk in my goth!"
Heh. I actually grew into the SP culture from a sort of industrial/artsy/romantigoth phase. I still think I look better in black than in brown... so generally, I substitute all the usual browns and greys for black and pinstripe heart So I guess I'm really a Steamgoth, rather than a Steampunk.
I think they fit quite nicely together.
