Why, I must accost your current opinions on the most 'steam worthy design'. I am trying to find something or someone to etch into a sheet of copper.
My current idea is to do a zeppelin or a portrait of Tesla.
What do you think?

What are you going to use the sheet of copper for after you've etched into it? It does effect what the subject should be somewhat.
A Zeppelin is rather classic, I feel, but they do look very good. A portrait of Tesla would be a bit more unusual but it would look quite good. Which one would you feel more comfortable doing? I'm quite an indecisive individual so perhaps I shouldn't be giving out advice...

I agree with Sakuneko-chan. It depends on what you're going to do with the finished etching. If you're going to just exhibit it like a typical painting then I think the zeppelin or the portrait of Tesla would be great. If you pick the zeppelin then I'd either focus on the zeppelin itself, or focus on the horizon with the zeppelin as a compliment. I'm sure there are some really cool effects you could get with the etching to mimic a sunset or something similar. Whichever one you decide to do, make sure the frame is steampunked out. It can't be too gaudy or it will overpower the picture. Look up steampunk picture frames for ideas.

Thanks guys. I have two projects laid out. The first is a zeppelin, which I will frame, the second, being a series of 'machined' gears.

Oh? What will you be doing with the 'machined' gears piece? I wish you the best of luck with them, I'm sure they'll look superb! You must post a picture of them when you've finished. biggrin
