Can anybody think of some positive portrayals of fat females as major characters in a graphic novel series?

The only one I know of is Gertrude Yorkes in Runaways.

Hmm... I can only think of one or two, and you're not going to like them... but in Sandman, Despair was portrayed as a fat, grayish woman with scraggly black hair tied into a bun. Not a main, but an important character, what with her being more powerful and metaphysically intrinsic to the universe than a god and everything.

Another one would be Carmina Falcone in Batman. She's a heavy woman with blond hair, bent on avenging her father's death. Ruthless, cold woman. She gets paralyzed somewhere along the way, and either loses her hair or it was a wig all along, I think...

Neither are portrayed as attractive.

Webcomics, however, do better with fat females. There's a gorgeous portrayal of a juicy Persephone in this series about Hades: http://deadsquirrelcomics.com/node/773

She's on the last page, if you want to find her fast. I think the author has abandoned it. Shame. confused

She's cute, but it doesn't seem very positive though. =/

I'd classify webcomics as a different medium.

Guess there's no love for teh fat girls in the graphic novel industry. sad

Or in most other places.

True enough.

I heard on another forum of some pudgey black woman who was taken seriously as a character. She was part an evil institution in The New Universe and could project giant glowing purple hands. Anyone know the name of this char? .-.

No. I did some digging, and the only black female character I could find from the New Universe is named Friction and has friction powers and isn't even pudgy.

But I also think Wikipedia was only listing protagonists.
