My opponent played Relinquished and I wanted to destroy it with Skull Lair. I said, one Monster is enough to destroy it but my opponent thought that I need as many monsters as the card, Relinquished is equipped with, stars has. Who is right?

well techinically speaking relinquished can be destroyed by any monster with the right effect or if you have an effect cancelling trap or spell card like skill drain which negates opponents monster effects

... That doesn't answer the question. At all.

Idiot.

Answer: You only have to remove Monsters equal to the Level of Relinquished to destroy Relinquished with Skull Lair. Relinquished's effect to destroy the equipped Monster in its stead can only be applied in Battle.

you are right but a little peice of advice get a hold of ritual ceiling(not sure how its really spelled but still could really help.
