 Vesti shifted uncomfortably as the painting vanished. He started a bit as his own katana clinked against the floor. Vesti was disturbed by the story, but moreso by the feel of the room. His antennae swayed slowly as tension saturated the room. Vesti was certain most of it was from him.
He wanted to ask what the display had to do with him, but thought better. His blue eyes were instead kept locked on the now motionless ink blotches.

 "Such a sword still exists in this world. And it is now rested into the hands of the Sand Village. Permitted that it be used, this sword could fall into the wrong hands and start another war between villages and spread more bloodshed on our soil. From what I've gathered, the Kazekage now has it in his possession. I want you to take it from him, and bring it directly to me. Do you understand?" she asked, her round, black eyes bulging as she shook, "This is very important, Vesti. I am issuing you this mission under the suspicion of the Kusagakure and myself. 'WHOA, WHOA, WHOA, WHAAAAT!?'
Vesti's mind raced a million miles a minute as he processed the specifics of his mission. HIS mission. His mission!?
"L-L-L-L-LADY--Lady Kusakage!!" Vesti reigned in a strangled cry as he tried to show at least a little professionalism, "I-I-I-I don't mean to question your orders, Lady Kusakage, but-but-but, me, I, ah--I'm a g-g-g-g-genin! I have a terrible track record with missions--ah--I..!"
It wasn't that he didn't want to follow orders--never that! Vesti would have likely killed himself had it been an official order. This in itself could possibly be a suicide mission. He was far more terrified of failing.

"Vesti," she spoke, her voice shaking as she trembled, "... Please. I am dying. I will not lie to you when I say this, but I refuse to let anything happen to this village when my time has come to pass. Especially with that thing still alive in the hands of that--! That--!" she spoke, her face pale and livid with rage as she tried to breathe.
2 attendants had rushed to her side the moment they heard her cough and rasp for air and gave her what appeared to be a cup of murky tea. They had then forced it down her throat and held her tight as her hand gripped at the desk tightly...
Leaving scratch-marks behind.
"..." she had finally let out a sigh of relief, and the two had cleaned her face and robes, and left, bowing as they disappeared behind doors.
"..." she was sorry he had to see that, but truth be told, there really wasn't much time for her to live. Not with her chakra eating away at her body.
She was rotting. She was aging rapidly, though not in appearance. And soon, after her body had decayed, she would die.
... And leave behind her beloved land at the mercy of its enemies.
No. She refused to let that happened. No matter how much death pulled at her and pushed her to go down, she would rather reign from beyond the grave then to have her soil burned and destroyed by those Tengu bastards...
She then let out another out-take of air and lifted her dark eyes to the trembling genin and bowed her head, "Please. Just this once. He will be sending a genin to take it to a graveyard. I want you to take it, and bring it to me. No matter what it costs, you must give it to me. Do you understand? I must destroy it before it gets to the wrong hands. Please!"Kusakage Theme

Vesti was still shuddering, but his eyes had calmed down considerably. His had felt his Ladyship's sincerity and fought to keep his own emotions in check. He was silent for a moment, until finally, his trembling ceased and he looked up at the Kusakage, worry lines contorted into a fierce glare eminating from clear eyes.
"What do I need to do?"

"... Go to the Valley of the Wind, and there, in the deserts, you shall find a gravesight, somewhere amongst the blood-soaked sands of that forsaken area. Knowing it's kage, he'll be sending a genin to take it there while he pays his respects to the old man for having found the damned blade. You are to take it before it is placed inside the tomb. You are not to attack their kage, or their genin, and you are to disengage confrontation so long as there is no interference with your mission. Vesti gave an abrupt nod, his eyes still fiercely trained on the Kusakage.
"The Valley of the Wind, gravesite, no confrontation... understood." He murmered slowly. Things sounded as though they should go smoothly, so long as force wasn't required.

"And whatever you do," spoke Sanae, clearing her throat as she sipped the last of her tea, "Under any circumstance, do not use the cursed sword. At any cost, do not even weild the blade for defense. Once you weild it, your soul becomes attached to it. Once attached, you will no longer have control over your mind nor body. So take heed and avoid using the damned blade. Understood?"
She then rolled up the scroll she had used and cleared her desk, "Without any further dismissal, be on your way. I don't want that thing getting near my father's corpse, if you don't mind."Kusakage Theme

Vesti's gaze lowered timidly as he subconciously fingered the edge of his own blade. He understood the consequences the Kusakage was trying to convey. He managed to meet his Ladyship's gaze one last time, eyes ablaze, before strafing out the window, down the tower and westward towards the Land of Wind.

Upon sitting at her desk, Lady Kusakage saw something from within her scroll.
Even the sparrows she sent out began to report to her.
Something was not quite right...
"..." A new Mizukage? What news indeed. But as much as she loved to visit, she wasn't in the... 'Best of health' to say hello and greet the woman.
Wait, a woman? That was good. She was beginning to lose hope for her sex. She was happy to know her and Lady Hokage weren't the only ones to uphold peace and powers that be.
She then lifted herself up from her tatami matt and opened the window to her office.
She might as well grace her with presentation; get on her 'good side' in these dark and desolate years...Kusakage Intro Theme

When she had returned, nearly every official from the Grass village had rushed to her when she walked through that window...
Giving her news, status, and whatnot over the Tengu.
Despite her raging hangover, she managed to listen to them all as cool and calmly as she could and deal with the matters as they discussed what was to be done first.
All of their refuges had moved to safer grounds... But it was time they invaded the Snow. All other villages had began to enter their territory...
It was time to lend out a hand.
Sanae nearly stiffled a giggle at the thought of ambushing the Yukikage Ashi's former village and agreed with much delight in her dark eyes.
However... the news over Vesti had disturbed her greatly.
She had told him to fetch the sword and destroy it. Yet he failed to do both and now the sword was placed back into Muramase's grave...
"Damnit," she hissed, gritting her teeth together; perhaps that was a matter to deal with another time.
Now was the time to act and attack.
She had remained so calm and so careful over the invasion that it had gotten quite easier for her to exact her plans out for the Tengu's fall...Kusakage Theme
