Something in MST3Kakalina's recent thread made me think about this - is there a correlation between 'personality types' and astrology (I mean, aside from the typical astrological personality based associations). I mean in terms of I/E N/S T/F J/P, I'm not sure what those are called.
What combinations would be expected for the different signs? There would be some variation, given that there are 12 signs and 16 letter combinations. Also, would different parts of the combination stand for different aspects of astrology? As in, for example, could I or E be the difference between earth/water and fire/air, or could the third letter be involved in a person's moon sign, etc? (I can't remember what all the letters stand for.)
I'm either INTJ or INTP, what result I get depends on the test so I'm not sure, and I'm aquarius with pisces moon and rising.
What do people think?

i see earth and water types as more I-types. they're a "feminine," passive element: i associate that with introversion. not being shy! you can be introverted and be friendly. introversion, as it relates to the Myers-Briggs test, means that you draw your energy from within you. extroversion means you get it from other people. psst, go post in my thread! xp

That's an interesting theory. I'd like to hear more about it. We studied Carl Jung this semester in my Personality class. He theorized 8 psychological personality types, the 2 main groups being Extroverted and Introverted and then 4 subtypes under each main. These are Thinkers, Feelers, Sensors, and Intuitors.
Jung was a Protestant, but seemed to be more spiritual in his theories than say, Freud. He was into Astrology and Woolfolk uses a quote by him in the front of her book, The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever Need.
I think it would be interesting to try to place the 12 signs into the 8 groups. I'd have to pull my notes to remember the exact traits for each of Jung's types. Let me know if anyone's interested.

Many people interested in MBTI and Jung are also somewhat into astrology, so it's definitely been looked at before. The only issue is that there are 8 types according to Jung, 16 according to MBTI and 12 Zodiac signs. so somewhere there will be overlap.

That's true. Ooo...I once heard a theory that each of the 12 apostles were a different sign of the zodiac. Thought that was kinda cool. I realize that wouldn't interest everybody, but I thought it was neat. My mom had a book, I think with a break down, etc.

That's certainly interesting, though ultimately whoever ended up as Judas would be demonized to some extent, as they would automatically be associated with a betrayer. Unless they mean the guy who replaced Judas after he hanged himself.
It's in human nature to look for correspondences, even if they don't mean anything. So anything with the same quantity (for example, 16 MBTI types and 16 Tarot court cards) will be seen as connected in some way.

Yeah, I think Judas *is* included in that theory. If I remember correctly, Doubting Thomas was a Scorpio. My dad's a Scorpio and that's what made me think of that.
