While Rinon is not a walled city, and does not truly have any gates there are a number of main thoroughfares into the city by land, three primary ones. By far the largest comes from due north straight into the market. It's trail is well paved, well worn, and well traveled, large convoys leave and enter the city regularly through here.
To the east another trail leads off into the distance, riding the coast nearly parallel to the equator. A common traveler route but mostly ignored by traders, it is not paved and in some places in total disrepair but near the city kept in good condition. It runs along the slums before splitting into smaller streets, anyone who takes the road must be cautious of less than respectable merchants and muggers in this area; Since the forest is closest here and the law scarce smugglers often sneak their wares across at night, employing local muscle for labor.
The third road is the only to go all the way to the bay, it runs along the western mountains to the northwestern cities. Though not as traveled as the North Road it is odd to see it empty at any time of day or year. Because of it's mountainous terrain convoys are forced to use many small transports instead of a few large ones, and often require more defense.
The city is surrounded by forest, it takes up a large portion of the continent and is home to many less than friendly creatures. But in between Rinon and the forest is a large field, grass trimmed to a manageable height, about waist high, no shrubs or trees for longer than the average man can run.

As the Sun shined over his head, three different bodies laid around him. The robbers dressed as guards had all fallen to his blade.
"See? That wasn't so bad? And next time if you try to rob someone that is coming into the city, go for the person that doesn't have a sword!"
He raised his hand and created the peace sign.
"Later guys!"
He smiled slightly and started walking away from the scene. He then looked at his left hand. The ring with the small stone shone brightly in the light. He admired it at first, then clenched his fist in anger.
"I've got a long way to go before I find out the truth. Maybe, I can get started here."
He looked up to the streets ahead of him. Filled with people. Selling, buying, begging and just living life. He took a deep breath and started to walk into the city of Rinon.

The crowd was moving quickly and the gang of bandits were quickly left behind. Into the city and streets branch off, thinning the crowd as it goes to the point where there only a few dozen people were within eye shot. Standing in the midst of the crowd facing the coming crowds stood an old woman, leaning on ornate cane and seemingly staring into nothing as people walked around her. Dressed in a patterned red smock and a blue silken scarf, despite the heat of the mid summer sun.
"You boy" she said in a harsh voice as Raven walked by, simultaniously swinging her cane at his back with all the force of a falling teapot.

Raven felt a sharp pain on his back.
"Itai! What was that?!"
Raven quickly turned around and saw an old lady behind him placing her cane back at her side.
"EH?! What the Hell was that for?! If I didn't have respect for elders, I'd have you spend some time with my sword!"
Raven then felt the pain go away. He looked up, and sighed.
"What do you want, old woman?"
