Introduction to Spells

As you may already know, wizards use magic. Magic is used to use spells against and enemy, to find something, to get out of the way, to protect, and more. In this book you will learn about nine different spells and different kinds of wand movements.

Chapter 1 - Wand Movements

Knowing the right indication of a charm, spell, or curse is one thing. But the correct wand movements are the main key. To do a spell correctly, you need to know how to move your wand in the correct way.

* Circular motions - some spells will require you to move your wand in a circular motion. This means you will need to twirl your wrist in a circular motion, going counter clockwise.

* Swishing movements - other spells will require you to move your wand in a nice, swishing movement. This means you will move your hand from left to right in a nice, clam wave.

* Flick - You flick your wand in a quick movement forward. Never to the fight or left. Just flick in down in a forward position but not to far.

Chapter 2 - Backfired Spell

On occasions a spell may backfire and cause some major damage to the one casting the spell, their wand, or the object they are trying to use the spell on. this is why it is best to always practice wand movements in silence before trying to use a new spell, charm, curse, or hex right away. this can lead to some serious damage.

Object Blown Up - sometimes when a spell will backfire on you, the object you are trying to work with will blow up. this mainly happens with the Wingardium Leviosa, or levitation charm.

You Set on Fire - on some special occasions you will be set on fire. Wonderful isn't it? This will mainly happen if you are doing incorrect wand movements with a spell that is trying to change the weather.

Those are to two commonly things that occur when a spell backfires. Make sure that to prevent spells backfiring; you will practice the wand movements in silence. When you wand movements are absolutely correct in every way, you are going to set your wand down and practice your pronunciation of the spell.

If this spell does not go correctly, you or the object you are trying to levitate will blow up or be set on fire, and I am not kidding you, it has happened many times before.

This charm was invented by an unknown wizard who needed to move some rock out of his way. History tells us they he messed around with some random wand movements and sayings, and on accident while trying to use the accio charm, invented the levitation charm.

Some people have claimed that while using the levitation charm, their wand will buzz in their hand. Like a muggle phone that it set on vibrate. If this happens to you make sure to stop the charm and set your wand down on your desk or don't use magic with it for a bit. This means that you wand has been overused and needs a break. Yes, this can happen while you are in school. When you are of age to apparate the wand limits are taken away as well. To learn more about wand limits please visit chapter 10 of this book.

The summon charm Accio, is used to summon an object that is far away. Say for instance you need your broomstick for quidditch, but you forgot it in you dormitory. You would stab your wand into the air in a quick jab and call ‘Accio –broomstick name here-“

Some people claim that the summoning charm will only work on items that you own. Not someone elses'’. But It has been rumored that some people are able to use the Accio charm to summon other wizard’s wands, but only if the wizard is unable to reach or use their wand at the moment.

For instance, if I were to knock you back few feet in a duel, and you wand slipped out of your wand, I could all “Accio –your name here’s wand-“ and the wand would come to me.

This charm will not work on some one elses' possessions. You cannot call “Accio –someone’s broomstick name here-“.

The backfiring of this spell is either the item doesn’t show up, or you wand will fly out of your hand and hit you in the head. Make sure to practice this charm frequently, for it is hard to master. Practicing in a small room with apple on a desk is good for beginners. Stand a few feet away from it and then say “Accio Apple” if it doesn’t move, you did your wand movement wrong or didn’t pronounce the spell correctly. If the apple comes towards you, they you did the spell correctly. But it is still advised to practice this charm over and over again.
