So this morning I woke up to the sound of gurgling water. I prodded my boyfriend and told him I thought the toilet was acting up, he went to check, and then calmly told me to get up and help.

...The storms caused the sewage to backup through the pipes in his shower and toilet. Rapidly.

He went and got his parents up, as it's their house, and I tried to grab as much of the stuff near the water as possible and move it out of the way. He and his mom commenced to placing towels to try to plug the drain and block the flow, but it didn't do too much.

So we grabbed as much of the books, cat supplies, clothes, etc as we could and piled them on the bed while the sewage water started to reach our feet.

After about ten minutes, we were wading in a few inches of it, trying to pull the electronics in the TV room up out of the water. Their 64" hi-def tv is ruined, along with the speakers, the PS2, all manner of controllers, and my Wii and some games.

Every scrap of furniture, all the kids' toys, the cat toys/supplies, Nick's mattress, all the carpets, lots of clothing (including some of mine ninja ) and a LOT of electronics are ruined.

Would have been able to save more if we'd thought to unplug stuff before the water got to it, but by the time we realized the water might be charged it was too late to do anything about it.

So yeah, that's how my day's been going. Eventful and interesting, but in the bad way, sadly. D:

*super huggles*

After you called me I looked outside and saw where the police were rescuing cars from the flood. It's literally like half-a-block from my house. This storm was terrible. crying

It's not so bad outside in this area. Some places the cars were almost buried, but nothing like that happened here. Just a lot of flooding in the houses.

I'd be totally devastated if my computer got ruined. If there was a flood here, I would go after my tower... and then my cats. DDD:

*huggles you tightly* I'm so sorry... I hope everything gets replaced... Stay safe! ; 0 ;

Thanks guys!

@Hisa: Yeah, my laptop was fortunately already packed up in my backpack, along with six issues of Berserk. They were some of the first things to be dragged upstairs, along with my clean clothes. I forgot my purse with my wallet and car keys though. D: (Fortunately, they were on the bed. sweatdrop )

yeesh, my area apparently got hit by heavy storms while i was away, and unfortunately my parents' office (which is an old house downtown remodelled to be offices) has a habit of flooding because the outside stairwell leading to the basement doesn't drain well at all. there are times in the middle of the night they'll have to get up and drain it before any damage is done. it doesn't help that it's a computer business, so a lot of electronics are in danger. we don't worry so much about here at home because we live near the top of a hill.

though i've been kind of nervous all day because there were tornado warnings in my area...we've never really gone though tornado procedures at home, only at school, so it's beyond nerve-wracking when it's just my brother and i at home...

really sad to hear that though Silver sad hopefully they're insured or something...

*Hugs* biggrin

Yeah, they called the insurance company, but apparently they aren't covered for flooding. The damage seems to be due to a combination of the horrible rains and the fact that the sewers on their street are being worked on, and were uncovered. So they're hoping to be able to get the city to pay for it. 3nodding

@Hisa: Once we decided that there was nothing else we could do, we went over to my boyfriend's brother's house and took the kids with us. The one year old was sitting in my lap for a while and saw your Ookami pic, and stabbed my screen with his tiny chubby finger and went "*Gasp* :O! *Squeal* DOG-DOG!"

...Cutest thing ever. xD;

yeah, i guess that would count as partially the city's fault. though considering some of the city governments i've encountered * stare at her city's council* they may say otherwise.

XD omg that's adorable.
