Baron had, thanks to Synedra, finally made it to the isle he was born on, the home of the wolftaurs. But, had yet to meet anyone other than the female that had let him take a ride on her boat to get here. He'd wandered off, perhaps just for a while, in a nervous attempt to find someone else like him. He had to know for sure he and Synedra weren't the only ones, but at the same time, he was scared to run into another wolftaur. He'd heard stories from the humans around the village, that a taur that hadn't been raised in the civilized ways of humans, was barbaric, and vicious, and a downright animal. He had a hard time believing that, of course, but still, there was that underlying fear. He stepped carefully, and shakily, through the forest. This, also, was a thing that scared him. He'd never set food past the treeline back on the isle he had been raised on.

Akemi had come to the beach to get rid of her anger and so far it looked like it was working. Her knives rubbed sharply against the smooth stone creating small sparks when she moved them fast enough. Oddly enough now that she had made it back under a tree, the wolftaur found herself humming softly to herself.
"This isn't too bad." She mused with a sigh. Taking a break from the pack gave her that breathing room that she used to take for granted. Not that she would really be moved to go back to her lonely old ways, but still this break was nice.
The stone went back into her pack as she sheathed her knives along the belt that hung snugly around her waist. Picking up a pebble, Akemi threw it casually towards a tree without even noticing the approaching wolftaur.

Of all the things Baron was expecting to happen, a rock to the face was probably the last. It hit him in the cheek, and he let out a loud, echoing yelp, diving behind a tree to try and get cover from his assailant. He breathed out slowly, eyes wide, and ears pinned back against his head. "What in the world..." he peeked out from behind the tree, tail half curled inwards, "Who did that?"

Akemi jumped. Her gaze instinctively searched the area around her before she forced herself to calm down. Now that she thought about it, had something been moving near that tree? 'Oh no.' Her cheeks flushed in embarrassment as she heard the other wolftaur speak from his hiding place.
"If you mean what hurt ya, then it was that pebbles fault. " She carefully stepped out of the shadows to look at the wolftaur. "But I guess it's also my fault for throwin' it. Though!" Here she pointed at him, "If you had better reflexes and a quicker eye you could've dodged it." Really though Akemi bit the inside of her lip. 'He's gotta be angry 'cause I really should've been paying more attention...'

Baron rubbed his cheek, pouting slightly, as he focused on the female talking. His eyes went wide, and surprisingly, he grinned, seeming to forget what had just happened. He trotted forward, offering his hand, "I'm Baron!" He blinked, then coughed awkwardly, looking down. That sounded a little too eager, didn't it? He had no idea if greetings were the same for taurs as they were for humans. "I'm sorry..." he lowered his hand a little.

Akemi was startled at the sudden change that came over the other wolftaur. At first she had thought he was going to punch or slap her, but instead he had just held his hand out. How long had it been since anyone had offered her their hand like that?
But Akemi recovered quickly enough to grab his hand. "Hey! Why are you apologizin'?" She blinked at him with much confusion. Already her silent question about whether he wanted her to shake his hand was pushed back by his apology. "It was a mutual accident after all. So no worries...Baron was it?" Looking up the rustic wolftaur grinned, "I'm Akemi."

Baron's ears perked, and his head lifted at her reaction, and he grinned again, "Yeah, its Baron. Its great to meet you, Akemi! I'm new here, and I've only met one other wolftaur other than you," he said quickly, starting to ramble. "See, I used to live with humans, then I met Synedra, and she bought me here, and now I'm trying to meet more people of my kind!" he took a deep breath, "Its hard though...you guys are good at hiding."

"Oh! Really?!" Akemi laughed and patted Baron on the shoulder, "Well it won't be long before you meet plenty of others, I'm sure! This is definitely a place for wolftaurs like us to be. Though..." She blushed faintly, "I don't think anyone is right around here right now, but you'll meet them with time I'm sure."
"Us good at hiding?" She grinned, "I guess that's truu-" Suddenly the word human rang in Akemi's head as it finally registered, "Hu-humans!" She started to laugh and tears stung at her eyes, "Oh what a joke, Baron! There is no such thing!"
