I'm not sure if this has been discussed - but anyhow.
As we all know (probably) Edward Cullen is (apparently) not a normal vampire - he is an incubus.
Which means he is not really a vampire at all, rather... a sex demon.
Incubi are known to visit their victims, often at night while they sleep, and sexually violate them after paralysing them and giving them horrible nightmares.
Dreamy, huh?
OR, an incubus shapeshifts into a person coveted or trusted by the victim, so the victim lets their guard down and invites them in.
Now, doesn't mr.Cullen sneak into Bella's room at night while she sleeps?
Seeing as he is, more or less, a rape demon, I really doubt he's just been looking.
Disturbing.
