Mattie rolled her eyes, stifling a giggle, "Oh suuure...a 'friend'" Oh. Her father was so predictable at times. If only he would admit that he liked her. It would make this whole thing much, much easier. She tapped her chin, "I...I don't know..." she looked at her father, "She probably had it all packed up for us, so we should probably take it home...she probably worked hard to pack the desserts safely so they won't be destroyed when we walk them home..."

Aubrey shook his head. "Don't you go trying to stir up things. If anything happens, it'll happen on its own." He nodded slightly, though he held on to some uncertainty. How could he convince Mattie that he and Aimee were just going to be friends when he could barely convince himself? But he knew his own feelings, and how to read others. Though, his experience with females wasn't a shining record. Other than Palladia, he never got passed flirting with females. But that didn't matter! He knew best because- well- ...because! "Well, how about then we stop there really quick. You can go inside and ask what she did, and we can decide from there." He put a slight emphasis on the fact that she would be the one to go inside, figuring to show he wasn't that needy for the pretty waitress inside the tavern.

Matilda rolled her eyes, resembling Palladia quite a bit, "Oh Papa." she said, a hint of exasperation in her voice, "Don't be so shy!" the young female wrapped her fingers around her father's wrist, tugging him through the streets, "How can you two advance when you keep backing out?" she nodded, acting as if she was experienced in such things, "It takes two to make a relationship. And Aimee is doing her part perfectly."

Aubrey huffed slightly as they walked along. "Aimee has done nothing to show she wants more than just friendship." 'Right?' "We work together, so it's not as though I never see her already." Then he thought to himself. Maybe sending Mattie in alone was a bad idea. She might try talking to Aimee about it! What if it was just the push she need- She didn't want to be pushed! He twisted his arm so that he was holding Mattie's hand like a regular father. "We'll go in, figure out how she fixed the desserts, and go from there. Would you want to show her your new mitt?"

Mattie frowned, trying to think of a comeback,"Maybe...she's...waiting for you to make the first move..." yeah. That was it, "She's waiting for you to make the first move!" the young centauress said with more confidence. "Well...when I show her my mitt, you should do something that would make her realize you feel the same way!" she gave him an innocent smile. But behind that innocent face was a mind whirring with various scenarios that could happen.

Aubrey nearly shrunk into himself. Could that be true?! Could she really be waiting for him to say something? His eyes widened as they got closer to the tavern. Keep calm! "I don't have anything to show her. She'd show at least some- wait. We'll get back to this later." Which meant he was dropping the subject. He was suddenly really nervous of going into that tavern. He put a hand on the handle. "Remember, we're just checking on the dessert, then showing her your mitt."

"And telling her that you like her." Mattie added with a whisper as she walked in. The teen looked around the tavern to see that it had gotten slightly busier than before. "Oh my." she said, looking at her father. "Maybe we've come at a bad time..." she realized that it would be much harder to actually talk to Aimee this time. Matilda sighed, as she was slightly disappointed.

"And no such thing. In and out." Aubrey muttered, holding the door open, leaning on it for support. Seeing all the customers helped him relax. The dessert and the mitt would be all Aimee had time for, surely! "There are usually at least two servers about this time. She should have a moment for you to ask about the dessert at least. Go ahead." He offered, standing in front of the door, feeling better with the silly little triumph.
