Rhiannon had had a rather strange urge to go exploring today. She didn't often wander very far from her den, but today she had decided to get to know the territory better. Maybe even make some new friends. She had recently changed her den after her previous one got flooded in a storm. This time she had made sure to choose a safer spot. It wasn't very far from her last home but there were some new places to explore.

And so as soon as she had woken up she had went out to find something to eat. And then, humming a tune to herself, she set out on her little 'adventure'. Though not being the most adventurous girl out there, she hoped it wouldn't be anything too exciting.

Over the past few days, Aileena had smelled the scent of a new Saigh in the plains area that was near her den. It must mean that another Saigh had moved into one of the den's near hers, since really there was no other reason for another animal to come into the area. It wasn't very good hunting, she generally had to travel a ways to find even rabbits, and she was fairly certain that there weren't any clans in the area. Despite the fact that the scents she caught indicated to her that the other was a female, she was still rather nervous to introduce herself, and so she had generally skirted away from the areas where the scent was strongest. This morning, however, she had apparently found an extra dose of courage, since she had decided that she couldn't hide from the new female forever and it would probably be better for her if she introduced herself before the female found her, since some Saighneian didn't take kindly to unfriendly strangers, and the last thing Ailee wanted was an enemy so close by....

Padding out of her den and in the direction she generally smelled the stronger scents of the female, she immediately picked up the female's scent on a light breeze and knew that she was headed in the right direction. Gulping a bit, apparently not having quite enough courage for this particular task, the blue Saigh continued to pad slowly in the direction that she sensed the other female.

After she had done a good bit of wandering around, Rhiannon stopped for a short break. She hoped on top a rock from where she had a fairly good view of the area and would see whomever approached from a good distance. She was a little nervous because she had the feeling someone was following her. And there was a scent from another female. It was slightly familiar - she had gotten whiffs of it here and there, but it was never something strong enough to be properly identified. So she had just dismissed it as something unimportant. However the scent had gotten stronger as she had walked further in this direction. If it was from a neighbor she would be very excited to meet her. But the fact that said 'neighbor' hadn't shown herself yet made Rhiannon wonder if she had done something to offend her unintentionally.

She inhaled sharply as the scent became even stronger. Was the unknown female coming in her direction? Rhiannon strained her ears to pick up any sound she might have made. Was she coming here to meet her or chase her out of her territory? She would have to wait to find out.

Aileena had gotten close enough to hear the female in front of her stop moving, no more soft padding on the ground except for her own. The blue female knew that there was a pleasant rock up ahead for sitting on, so perhaps the new female had taken refuge there for a while. Not wanting to seem like she was sneaking up on the other saigh, Ailee purposefully stepped on any twigs she saw in her path and generally made a fair bit of noise. As the shape of the boulder came into view, she spotted a form on it that must be the female that she had been looking for. Speeding up her pace a bit but trying not to look too hurried, in case that would come off as too aggressive.

Just to stay on the safe side as well, she stopped about a length away from the female and put on her best smile to call out, "H-hi there...." Mist! She hadn't wanted to stutter, but meeting new people was incredibly stressful for her, especially in this situation where she didn't know the female at all.... Well, perhaps that would just show how non-aggressive she was...

A confused expression settled on Rhiannon's face as her large ears picked up on the sound of the approaching pawsteps. Who made such a racket when wandering around? It would alert half the forest somebody was coming. On second thought maybe that was the idea. It could be a good sign. Rhiannon was even more curious about the other Saigh now. When she came into view, Rhiannon didn't know whether to greet her or run away. So she just stayed on the rock silently.

She almost let out a sigh of relief when the other greeted her. "Hello." She smiled. She felt uncomfortable staring her down and hopped off the rock. "I'm Rhiannon. I'm new here but you probably know that already." She laughed.

Aileena smiled when the other returned her greeting, and if she stepped back a pace when the tan female jumped down from her perch, it was barely noticeable really. The other femme's easy introduction brought out a similar attitude in Ailee. She didn't feel any sort of threatening presence from this female, and she had gotten rather used to her scent now that she had been smelling it for a while. "I-It's nice to meet you Rhiannon, I'm Aileena, Ailee...." Listening to the rest of the other's information, the blue femme nodded, "Yes, I have smelled you around for a while, but I avoided running into you, I didn't want to be invasive...." Usually Ailee wasn't nearly as honest about her reasons for avoiding contact with others, but for some reason she felt that an explanation was in order, and so she continued, "But today I decided that I should introduce myself.... Sorry if I bothered you though...." Glancing up to the other female's expression, Ailee tried to decide whether she should beat a hasty retreat or continue with the niceties.

Rhiannon smiled brightly. "Nice to meet you too! You can call me Rhian, if you want. My full name is kind of a mouthful." She laughed. They was Aileena replied to her so honestly made Rhiannon's smile widen. It was refreshing and she decided she would be glad to have her as a friend, if she wanted.

"Oh, you shouldn't have worried. I love meeting new people." Rhiannon said dismissively. "You didn't bother me." She assured. "Actually, the reason I came wandering around here today was because I wanted to meet some of my neighbors. If anything, I should be doing the apologizing. This is your territory after all, isn't it?"
