But highly oxygenated water causes a loss of buoyancy and instant death...unless Metal Gear solid was lying to me. ;_; There are liquids that people can breathe though; they're called Perfluorocarbons. It actually was made in the 70's and was tested on rats; somewhat successful, but some died of heart attacks from thinking they were suddenly being drowned. ._. (And I learned That from Cracked)

Ravenwolf Half_Biscuit i think i can explain it in another way, tidus wakka and rikku were made (by the accusing eyes of their comrades) to do the underwater missions because, 1) its too "dangerous" for yuna 2) who the hells gonna make sir auron 3) who the hells gonna make kimahri and finally..well, lulu wouldnt want to get her hair wet biggrin , plus its very impracticale to swim in a dress biggrin Haha, I like your explanation better than the real one! Anyway, Lulu would probably just sink to the bottom with all them clothes... xd i think that clothes is a rather generous name for what shes wearing biggrin (apart from the top half), more just a selection of belts, attached together biggrin

i Neurotic-Kitty i Dannywolf No. I believe they hold their breath. And there was this one scene where someone mentioned that some blitzball players could actually sleep underweater too. They're just really trained. So almost all of gaia knows how to hold their breath for a long period of time. I don't believe that, I could believe the blitzball players but not other people. Yuna, Auron, Lulu and the rest aren't blitzball players, how could they hold their breath. But then again this is Final Fantasy so...I guess anything is possible rolleyes the characters that weren't tidus, wakka, or rikku never went underwater, so it shows there that they arent' trained.

(To get back on the FF7 prequel business)
If the guado were the cetra, then that means either two things,
1. Spira isn't the whole world, which makes sense then because there isn't a world map and therefore Spira might be the name of the chain of islands that you explore in X, and Jenova must have crashed incredibly far away, so far that the guado ON SPIRA aren't aware of it, though they would have to be if they can feel a surge of the Farplane, and this brings mew to...
2. Either Jenova hasn't landed yet or hasn't revealed herself at this time. It's quite possible that she/it is on another continent conversing with the guado there, biding her time.
The guado theory does make sense, since they existed before the humans apparently.

I always wondered about this too. I thought that maybe the water was filled with particles that allowed them to breathe. Then again, anything can happen in a Final Fantasy game. I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised.

I agree that this shouldn't be an issue. It's totally believable that Wakka can throw a ball hard enough to kill giant monsters, and Tidus can walk around the snowy mountains in shorts and a shirt for hours on end, but when they stay under water for longer than a few minutes it's too much? Let's just say it's how people are on their world.
