Who is your favorite artist and what do they do?
doesn't matter if they are super famous or not, or where they are from etc...
personally, I like CLAMP, the creators of Tsubasa, Card Captor Sakura, Chobits, and XXXHolic.

my love of Dorothea Lange was rekindled today in art appreciation. I had forgotten to mention her in my first post.

Honestly, there's only a few that I actually like.
Honestly there's one photographer I care about and like a lot. I might not agree with everything he does or says, but his work is so touching... so important and so powerful. The things he's done and the stuff he's been through.. Is just amazing. The man has been through some of the WORST places on this planet... Sulfur mines in China, anyone? Maybe you'd like to go to the middle east? How about covering some genocide in Africa.
He's been attacked, shot, and so much more. The man's amazing, in every way.
His name? James Nachtwey
He has a movie out called War Photographer, it came out late 2001. If you haven't seen it, you should.
Another one being Joe McNally..
Mr. McNally is a great guy, down to earth, honest and just all around a good person. I've got a lot of respect for the man.... Heck, he also takes quite amazing pictures wink
Another would be Bert Stephani, he's quite awesome and I love what he's doing with LIME and the Bounce Squad....
I also like David Tejada, he's a good guy as well, he also takes some amazing photos.
And whatever, I think those are the few big guys that are well known that I actually like.
I'm not a big fan of Art Wolfe, he's got some nice photos, he's a decent guy but I can't stand him personally but he has some nice shots.... And his travels to the edge videos are entertaining at times.
There's way more photographers I don't like than I do like haha

well, as I am beginning to learn, If you judge a photographer by their personality, you will more often than not, hate them. *shruggs* rolleyes
hurray for "artistic snobbery" ,as my art teacher calls it, in all of the fine arts.

(other photo guilds I've seen are really elitist...)
