Japanime BellyDance was an event at anime expo.
Basic outline of the panel was, the lady danced to anime music, told us stories about how belly dance changed her life (practically saved it), and held little raffles for hip scarfs.
The dancing was not different from the stuff we do now. I was expecting a more asian flair with some of their gestures. However she brought us all together to learn one of her routines.
Unfortunately, we couldn't post any videos of the event.
I don't know if she will show up again next year but we shall see what happens.
I hope some of you had the opprotunity to see this.

where is this at? i know someone who dances at anime conventions and she isn't the best. it all seem too unorganized even for improv.

Strangely enough sounds exactly like an idea I had for a local con...
A friend of a friend who was running it needed more pannels, and I was like "Uh...I could teach belly dance to anime music...?" Needless to say it never happened...least not at our con.

some con's are blech. i never seen a good dancer teach at an anime con. at least down here.
There supposed to have like a mega con or something like that in orlando and my tribal instructor said she'll be dancing and that someone she knows will be teaching cabaret so i may go with it.
