Where could he have gone? Udi couldn't go back to his family without some sort of information. It had already been a day since he and his sister's had begun to look for his father Diego. The Golden Jala stallion had left his mate, his herd, and his foals without a word. No one knew where he went or what was wrong. Bastet had mentioned something about his talking to himself. Had he gone crazy? Or perhaps he had just eaten a plant. Whatever had caused Diego's odd behavior didn't much matter right now. Even if his father had gone insane it was important that he bring him home whether he wanted to be found or not.

Still, it was hard work. If his father didn't want to be found it wasn't going to be easy to find him. Hopefully it wouldn't take long but with all of Urin to cover it was starting to seem like a hopeless mission.

As Udi entered Quirne and neared the beach he began to lower himself so that he might get a better look through the brush. He doubted that his father would just be strolling along the water's edge. Most likely he would be walking along through the bushes and the trees.

The white mare moved through the trees trying to dodge branches and the roots that waited just to trip her. Her front left hoof caught the edge of a rather large root and sent her stumbling. "Oh Drat!" She half yelled in frustration. All this Foliage was really irritating and beginning to get on her nerves. How on earth was she supposed to make it to the beach if she couldn't get past a few trees? She desperately hated how clumsy she was. It wasn't even really her fault, just something she seemed to be born with. In all honestly she was quite lucky she hadn't killed herself yet.

Carefully she picked herself up and maneuver herself over the root. She would just have to be a bit more careful and move a little slower. If she continued to be lucky she would make it to the beach in one piece. That however, was beginning to look doubtful.

Carefully the purple Jala surveyed the brush. There really wasn't much to see. Just trees, some bushes, an occasional very large rock, and some more trees. Great, just great. The usually joyful jala was starting to become irritated by his fathers selfish behavior. If he had stayed put Udi wouldn't have to deal with this mess and could be spending time with his sisters.

He let out a small sigh. There wasn't any point in wishing for things that wouldn't happen. Besides, he needed to concentrate on the landscape below him. It would be even worse if he managed to pass right over Diego just because he wasn't paying any attention at all.

Over to the West a little he saw a tree move and a flash of white. It didn't look like Diego but perhaps they had seen some sign of him? If anything it would be good to talk with someone, if even for just a moment.

Just a couple hundred feet from where he had seen the white there was a small clearing. It should allow him enough room to safely land. Carefully he angled downwards and began to descend.

Esterlina continued to pick her way through the brush. She hadn't gone very far but at least there hadn't been any more accidents. Trying to maneuver around both the branches and the roots was tricky and beginning to become exhausting. Perhaps it would be better if she took a small break and caught her breath. She really wasn't in any hurry was she?

A slight gurgling noise emitted from her stomach, reminding her that she should find something to eat. Next to a tree, just a few feet away, was a small patch of grass. It didn't look gourmet but it was still edible and would at least kill the hunger pains and allow her a chance to rest. Lina took a step forward and stopped. Was that a flash of purple? She blinked and looked again. There was nothing there but leaves and branches. No. She must be seeing things. Besides, there weren't any colors out here besides brown and green.

The white mare shook her head and moved toward the grass again. Another flash of purple. Oh no, she wasn't going crazy now was she? She hadn't had much contact with anyone else in a while. Perhaps the loneliness was beginning to go to her head. Esterlina blinked and before her stood a purple Jala with a golden tail. Yes, she was definitely going crazy.

It had taken Udi a bit more work to get through the brush than he had originally intended but he had managed fairly well. Really he had been more concerned about the Nequus he would encounter. If he managed to find them at all. He could barely see more than a few feet in front of him than even tell if he was going the right direction. What would this Nequus be like? He had met a few different types of personalities throughout his life time. Some had been friendly but there were a few who hadn't been quite as nice. The purple Jala just hoped this particular one was on the nicer side.

After a few minutes Udi saw a flash of white. At last! His fears of losing his query vanished as he caught sight of the other Nequus. Carefully maneuvering around tricky roots and deadly branches, Udi managed to make his way closer and got a better look at his company. It appeared to be a crossbreed mare. She definitely had Reya in her, and was that a little Ichsa? It looked like her mother or father had had a rebellious fling. Remembering the Reya's temper Udi quickly moved to the side out of sight while he pondered what he should do. Well, after coming all this way he couldn't turn around now. What if this mare had seen Diego? There was only one way to find out.

Well the stallion hadn't poofed back into the air he came from, that was a good sign. Even though his coloring was a little odd he did seem to be quite real. Then again if you're going crazy how do you tell what's real and what isn't? She could always have someone else tell her if they saw him too. Although there were two problems with that idea. First of all there was no one else here, and second of all it would mean admitting to someone else she was crazy. No, she better not mention it. Maybe he would just go away if she ignored him.

Carefully and slowly the white mare moved a few paces away and found a different patch of grass to munch on. Perhaps just ignoring him would make her mind send him away. Then again, what if he was real? Then she was just being rude. Maybe she should say something. He would know if he was real right? Besides, why would she dream up Jalas that she had never even met before? It just wasn't practicle.

"I'm sorry, can I help you with something?"

Udi straightened up a little and watched as the mare took a few steps away from him and tried to pretend he wasn't there. He supposed he had probably frightened her but right now wasn't really the time to make her feel better. He would just ask her about his father and be on his way.

"I'm sorry miss I didn't really mean to startle you. I'm just hoping you could perhaps help me find someone." He thought for a moment trying to find the right words. Udi had never been good with words and speaking. It didn't mean he wasn't smart. No, he was definitely intelligent. The actual act of putting words together sometimes came at a loss for him.

"You see, my father Diego left his herd a little while back. Neither his mate or his herd knows where he went and we're all a little worried. Especially since he has two foals at home who need him. I don't suppose you've seen him have you?" He knew it was a long shot but if he didn't ask he would never know.

Perhaps she had been mistaken. How on earth would her subconscious be able to dream up something like this Jala, with a back story and everything. No, she doubted she was that smart.

"No I'm sorry, I've been wandering the brush and trees here along the beach for days. I haven't seen anyone at all. Well, except you that is." She paused for a moment. Maybe she could help the poor fellow look for his father.

"I'm sorry I don't believe I caught your name?" She didn't want to be rude, but she did need to know his name.

"You do have a name right?" Oh how stupid, of course he had a name. "I'm Esterlina. What does your father look like? Perhaps I could help by keeping an eye or two out for him."

A thought crossed his mind for a moment. Why was she walking? Her wings worked didn't they?

"I'm sorry how rude of me, I should have introduced myself. I've just been so worried about my father I tend to forget my manners. I'm Udi and it's a pleasure to meet you Esterlina"

She seemed a little odd to him and perhaps a little lonely, not very bright either but if she wanted to help him he wouldn't deny her. Maybe after they found Diego they could even be friends.

"My father Diego is a gold Jala, about the color of my tail. If you see him would you please tell him that we're all very worried and that he needs to come home? I need to be on my way but I would really appreciate it. Perhaps we could meet up again some other time."

With that he slowly disappeared back into the brush from where he had come.

Esterlina nodded her head as he talked. She understood that he was worried. If any of her family disappeared she would be greatly worried too. Although she still wasn't completely sure if he was real or not she agreed to look out for Diego.

A gold Jala huh? She definitely hadn't seen any Jala around lately, well except for Udi, and most definitely no Golden or yellow Jala. However, that didn't mean she wouldn't spot him in the future. At least now if she did see this Diego she could tell him that his son was looking for him and that he needed to go home.

The white mare watched as the purple Jala disappeared back into the brush. She did hope she would see him again. He was rather handsome in a weird way and seemed really sweet.

"Farewell Udi." She whispered to herself and went back to eating.
