So she could tell her mom where to go? That was pretty cool. Arjuna didn't think that kids got to tell their moms what to do, so hearing this was news to him. Maybe he could try it sometime.
"What's 'sploring?" he asked curiously. He'd been kept inside the apartment most of the time, or else was stuck with one of the grown-ups. This was Arjuna's first time out on his own. He had to admit, he was liking it a lot so far, so if exploring was anything like it, maybe that would be fun too.

Mariel smiled as Arjuna brought up her favorite subject, exploring, and prepared to enlighten him in the marvelous ways of the adventure.
"Esploring is when you go outside and just find out where everything is! I has a big yard at home and I get to adventure and find bugs and swim in da water, and chase da fishies, and climb trees and-" Mariel looked around to make sure Luna or any adult for that matter was not around before lowering her voice and moving a hand to cup around her mouth. "I even found a way under da fence. But you can't tell no one!" Mariel gave him a stern solemn face, well as stern/solemn as a 3 year old could look. She truly loved to be in the back yard, especially the pool and Luna had a back yard that was about 2 acres of land with a good sized portion fenced off as "the back yard" which included a large lake and a grove of fruit trees. She loved the freedom that adventuring gave her and she didnt plan on getting in trouble...yet. But she did know a way out of the fence and when she was bored/had explored everything/didnt like the house anymore she knew she could get past the fence, but she would use this oppertunity wisely.
"Esplorin is da best thing ever," her voice took on an almost loving tone "you can just be outside and watch da shadows move...sometimes if you sit really still and the dogs are tied up da birdies in da trees come down and walk around right next to you!" Mariel smiled at the memory of sitting still enough for the birds to come so close she could touch them and for a moment got lost in it.

That settled it, Mariel was definitely pretty darned cool. Arjuna was instantly jealous of her house with all the cool stuff outside. If he thought about it more, he'd realize that his backyard was enormous and full of cool stuff. But it also wasn't just his, and anyway it didn't have bugs or water or anything fun as far as he knew.
"Wow," he breathed, nodding slowly. "Won't tell, prromise." Promises were important. Arjuna found himself making a lot of promises he didn't like, but this one he was totally willing to keep. Really.
He sighed and turned over onto his stomach, propping his head up on his hands. "I don' get to 'splorre," he grumbled. "Just herre all the time. Borring."

Mariel snapped out of her daydream/memory when she heard Arjuna talking. She gave him a smile when he promised not to tell about the fence passage, this automatically made him trustworthy. She gave him a sad smile when he told her about not being able to explore. How could anyone live all cooped up in one place?! She couldnt imagine living without large space to roam in. She looked around for a moment and noticed the log hallways behind the reception desk.
"...well we could esplore here! 'Cept not outside." mariel gave a wary glance towards the sliding glass doors that led outside. It was way too hot out there and since both her and Arjuna were covered in fur she didnt imagine that he would protest the banning of outdoors for the moment. "Well we gonna go to school here later riiiiight? so we should esplore to make sure we like it." Mariel didnt think it would be against the rules to wander through the hallways of D-Corp, after all there were those people in the white coats everywhere so that could count as adult supervision right? AND the place did seem pretty big, who knew what kind of treasures they could be hiding behind each and every door!
She pointed at the hallway behind the receptionists desk. "See we go in there and then....we.....well then we esplore!" She really had no idea what was beyond the lobby since thats as far as she had ever gone. She assumed that Arjuna had a better sense of the building than she did but since he was about her age she was sure that he prabably hadnt been in most of the rooms either.

"Here's not so fun," Arjuna said, sounding like this was a conversation he'd had before. Anoki frequently tried to take him places that were supposedly fun, but Arjuna failed to see the excitement in most of them. There was nothing fun about a big library or a bunch of whitewashed hallways.
"Not gonna go school herre," he added impulsively. He didn't care that everyone told him he would. He didn't want to. "Too big and boring and teacherrs arre poopy." Raven was a teacher, Arjuna knew, and he didn't like the way she was always yelling at something. He didn't like her, but felt like he was supposed to, and so was unable to say so clearly.
He could play along though, since Mariel wanted to. She knew more about exploring than he did, so maybe he could at least learn how it was done. "Could trry. That way?"

"Everywhere's fun if your esploring the right way." Mariel smiled, she was a firm believer in adventure lust being the cure 9and general cause of) all lifes problems, and of course boredoom was a problem. "Ya lets go this way." Mariel began to lead the way towards th hallway that led into the mysterious D-Corp. of couse she didnt know where she was heading but that only spiced things up. "You not gonna go to school here? then how you gonna be a superhero?" She had met Geia earlier and he had told her that they learn magic and other cool things like the superheroes on TV. It was something she was really looking forward to.
Once in the hallways Mariel walked and looked around at practically everything they passed, which granted wasnt much at first since it was all hallway and doors. "How do'ya know the teachers are poopy? One of dems a King! I met the prince to prove it." Mariel said matter of factualy. Vorel, geias dragon, had informed her via nods and shakes that geia was royalty and he said his father was a teacher therefore one of the teachers was royalty! Imagine being a king and teaching little kids, how fun must that be. They had walked up the hallway and not found any open or interesting rooms so mariel stopped for a moment before remembering she had seen an elevator. "kay dis way I gots an idea." She led Arjuna to the elevator and pushed the button for the doors to open. "lets go up! We can find more suff." She stated happily heading into the elevator and staring at the numbers while she waited for Arjuna to join her......hmn now which number to pick......

Clearly, Arjuna did not know the right way to explore. But Mariel seemed pretty cool so far, so he was willing to follow her. He actually knew part of the way, since he'd been given grand tours galore, but he chose not to say this. Maybe part of exploring was pretending you didn't know where you were going.
"No herroes here," he spat, thinking of the people he lived with. "Not that I met." Granted, Arjuna had met precious few people so far. Aside from Anoki, Mariel was the first kid he'd done more than watch from his window. But he still felt it safe to voice his opinions now, where Raven couldn't yell at him. "Teacherrs yell lots and I don't know no kings." Deep down, Arjuna hoped that Mariel was right. But from what he'd seen, he doubted it.
Still, he followed her into the elevator. Since Mariel wasn't pushing anything, he assumed it was up to him now. Wanting to be as far away as possible, he stood on his tiptoes and touched the highest button he could reach: the fourth floor.

Mariel gigled as the elevator hummed to life and began to take them upwards. She didnt get to ride in elevators often and so it was always fun for her. She wondered if Arjuna was right, that teachers yelled alot. From what she had seen on TV thus far they did always seem rather strange and mean in the kids shows which of course is why the kids evaded teachers and went on advantures. But then again there was what Geia had told her....meh she would just have to see. "S'okay, cause you gonna met Mr. King-man and we gona have fun and if teachers yell at us we can make our dragos eat them!." Mariel said half laughing. She knew they prabably wpouldnt be able to actually have their dragons do anything of the sort but it was fun to think about.
When the elevator dinged and the doors opened Mariel hopped out and motioned for Arjuna to follow. "Come on, now no one knows we here, so lets open doors." She stepped out and of course it was a large hallway with a bunch of doors, but these were spaced rather far apart. That intrigued mariel. Usually doors to regular rooms were closer together, but these were as if there was only one room every three room-lengths. "Why are the doors so far..." Mariel half mumbled and wondered out loud as she approached the first door. She grabbed the handle and pushed it open a crack to see inside.
"Arjuna you gotsta see dis." Mariel motioned for him to come closer as she opened the door a little wider, with a huge grin on her face. They had found the snow room. It was such a contrast to the outside world tha mariel was in awe. The walls were painted like scenery but obvious enough to be walls and there was snow piled everywhere as well as an air conditioner running full blast to keep things cold. mariel was in awe and wondered out loud "If dis is one room....whats in da oders?"

That was the first part about having a dragon that sounded appealing. All of Arjuna's dealings with dragons so far had made him far from eager to have one. Kyrie was Raven's tattletale and too small to do anything fun. Myung-Ki was scary and mean and hot and kept trying to take Arjuna's toys. But if having one of his own meant that he could make one eat people that bothered him... that put a big smile on Arjuna's face.
"Maybe," he said slowly. He'd have to think about it more. But before he could, Mariel went on without him, and he scrambled on all fours to catch up. "Wait!" In his haste, he almost barrelled into the girl, dodging and running a couple of lengths past the room in his efforts to avoid her.
More slowly, Arjuna backtracked and peered inside. And stared. And stared, jaw dropping. It was summer outside, hot and sticky and his worst nightmares realized. But in this room, it was winter all the time? How cool was that?
"Come on!" he shouted, reaching to grab Mariel and pull her inside. If this was snowy all the time, Arjuna wanted to stay forever. Or at least until winter.

Mariel allowed herself to get pulled inside with a giggle. She was just as excited and curious about the room as she imagined he was. Could D-Corp control seasons!!! That was the first thought that popped into her head once she was inside and realized just how vast the room really was. Of course being a toddler even a regularly sized classroom was pretty big, but this...well this was practically a whole other WORLD! While running along with Arjuna she managed to grab a handful of snow and giggled at the amount of cold in her hand. It was so much more refreshing that outside, and even better than the bare hallways! Once Arjuna stopped pulling her mariel glanced curiously at the amount of snow in her hand, it wasnt too much since she had been holding it so tightly but it made her wonder.
"You think its real?" She wondered out loud staring at the snow in her hand and lettingher gaze wander around the classroom. Luna had told her about a park called "Santas Village" where it was winter all year cause they had fake snow. But this seemed so real...it was cold and everything. Mariel looked at Arjuna and smiled "One way to see!" She then popped the snow into her mouth. She had eaten snow before back at home and knew it was frozen water, like the ice in the fridge so she wasnt to worried about it being poisoned or anything...of course if it turned out to not be real snow maybe she would worry. But as she felt the cold melt on her tounge and turn to water she giggled and then raised her arms to her forehead. She had eaten too large a handful and now had a brain freeze.
It passed quickly and she laughed. "It's REAL! But dont eat to much!" She added that last warning just incase Arjuna wanted to taste the snow too. That was when she got a good look at him in the snow and started giggling. "You the same color as da snow! I bet you can dissapear!" She half giggled half wondered. She had known he was white, it was hard to miss, but she had never equated him with snow until just now.

This was, beyond doubt, the best thing Arjuna had seen about D-Corp since he could remember. It was cold, and there was snow, and... well, the rest didn't matter too much. It was snowy and cold, and what could be better than that? He let go of Mariel's hands and did a somersault, landing on his back and looking up at the sky-painted ceiling.
"Sooooo cool," Arjuna said with a sigh, rolling onto his stomach and looking at Mariel, and giggling as she tasted the snow. Since it looked like fun, he grabbed a handful and took a big bite of the stuff. It was better than ice cream, cold and clean and delicious. "Mmmmmm."
All he really wanted to do was lie in the snow until he froze over, but Mariel's next words gave him an idea. Grinning mischievously, he got to his feet and tapped her shoulder roughly, running away as soon as he had. "Tag! You'rre it!"

Mariel was surprised by the sudden tag and let out a giggle/squeal of excitement. She did her best to keep an eye on Arjuna but being excited and young she was easily distracted and lost sight of him for a second. "Hahaha no fair cause your all white." She laughed but then caught sight of Arjuna again and the chase began she ran after him and plunged through all of the snow piles often tumbling down them in squeaky laughter. She finally caught up with Arjuna and tagged him.
"Tag your it, now you gota catch ME!" mariel laughed and dove into the next snowdrift. She was a mink after all and so wasnt adverse at all to the cold. She buried herself in the snow with just her eyes and forehead poking out and giggled. Of course she didnt realize that she was a brown spot in a pure white pile of snow but to her it seemed like a perfect hiding place and so she stayed and continued to make her usual giggle sounds as she enjoyed the snow. She in fact was periodically eating it in her hiding place while she waited to be tagged.
