Do you think its fair to have auditions for solos, duets, and ensembles for the chorus concerts(or any concert in general)?
feel free to explain why.

I think it's more than fair.
A soloist should represent the choir in the best way possible.
The voice best fit to sing the solo should get it.

I agree, I was having a fight with a friend who was saying it should be first come fist serve. personally, I think there should be auditions. First, because you want to put on the best show possible, second, to become a better musician you need to be told if your good or not, third, it gives everyone a fair chance.

I think it's fair. I've been in groups where the solo was given to the directors favorite and it just makes everyone unhappy. Besides, when people are auditioning for something it encourages them to practice, which is good for everyone. ^_^
