The sub-forums have been open for 3 weeks now and it seems they haven't
had any attention at all. Maybe one or two new topics but no replies.
Now, I'm sure some of this is because Gaia hasn't created a system which
lets you know when a sub-forum has been updated. And you're always gonna
see the main forum before anything. I don't blame people for not checking them out.
So my question to you guys, which you can just answer by taking
the poll if you want, is this... Do you think we should get rid of subforums?
Some info on subforums for those who don't know.
They are bought with money donated to a guild via that little annoying
button at the bottom of a guild home page (APG has more than enough)

I'm voting for shutting them down until we get some new functionality. As it is there are some topics being lost by the wayside and very few people seem to be visiting/posting in there. I've seen more than a few topics being posted in the main forum that should go in the sub-forums.
While on that topic, I also think the new sub-forums might've been a bit too broad in scope, at least if you're requiring that anything of those topics be posted there. Maybe we could open one up periodically for an event?

I was thinking of opening one for an event. Like APG's bday or
when we have Halloween or Christmas parties. Maybe just a
general Party Sub-forum. I hate to shut them down but any
topics that have been somewhat active I'll just make them
not-so stickies. That way they can still be posted in.
If we do that, I may open an RP thread in the main forum.

maybe... i like that idea untill further notice. There was a time that the pieces fit... Me too. I like how you over hauled it really. I think if we give it some time it can grow with more possible members but I like where you going with the sub forums. ... But I watched them fall away

So PL, if we close them do you want to keep one open for parties?
I don't mind that at all! The over haul was alot of work but I wouldn't
be upset if it bettered the guild as a whole. Main forum can get quiet...

I've honestly never gone in them, except to poke around once...
Back in the day when I used to moderate for some popular forums (not on Gaia), I never really saw a use for subforums. While they are a good thing to have, they really only come in need for very specific things. APG is too general of a guild to really need them, if you know what I mean.
But I do like the idea of a party subforum, it's a really good idea in my opinion. I don't think you should completely get rid of the other subforums yet, until maybe there is some kind of update. Is there any petitions floating around for subforum updates or something of the like?

I like the idea of a subforum for Petitions and Quests. It would still pull peeps into them, plus those kinds of threads are always ongoing topics.
A person can make one Petition and one Quest thread, and just edit the first post. This way it doesn't get jumbled and confusing. People would be able to find said threads easier instead of looking thru 20 different threads by the same user.
Also, a subforum for Parties is an awesome idea! biggrin
Don't get rid of them just yet 3nodding

I don't think I'd make a petition/quest sub-forum since we already have
a topic for them in the not-so stickies. It just seems... I dunno... useless?
Pointless? *trying to think of a better word* No one even visits that topic much.
But thanks for trying to come up with an idea.
But as far as a party sub-forum it wouldn't be just APG but also
Gaia events. People can start their own contests or games in them
instead of relying on us to always start them off.
