S'kagi was an man on an mission, and it showed as he picked his way through the Weyr. His expression had gone stark and serious, and advised, without so many words, that people not be in his path as he tracked down who he was looking for. He was looking for Kyllae, though finding her in one piece after the hatching... Well She was a candidate, and although Z'nal probably hadn't been any more eager to make her life any better than anyone else, he would probably frown on blood spatters in the barracks. He'd garnered a rough idea of her whereabouts from asking others in the Weyr, and was headed there now. When you were dolling out a summons from the Weyrwoman, you didn't waste time.

Kyllae was depressed. More than depressed, she was damn near inconsolable. She'd spent a great deal of last night crying. Kyllae didn't like to cry, it was something she looked down on, but...she didn't know what else to do. She'd killed that dragon. Dragons, maybe. That blue's betweening might have been her fault too. She shuddered, despite how warm it was outside. She would never hear the end of this. Everyone was going to hate her for the rest of her life, all because of one stupid, albeit costly mistake.
Still, she had learned, to her smallest relief, that she wasn't quite out of allies. Who would've thought Haanyath would offer her support, at a time when everyone else seemed out for blood? Kyllae had known it wouldn't be safe to sleep in the Weyr tonight, too many people out to get her. And when she'd gone outside, the bulky green had followed. Offered Kyllae peace of mind. It was hard to be afraid of people, physically anyway, when she was in the presence of the biggest, meanest watchwher on the face of Pern. Haanyath would keep her safe as well as she could.
It was with the green that Kyllae could be found now. A little ways off from the lake, Haanyath lay, half asleep, with Kyllae nestled in between her forelegs. Haanyath understood what had happened. And though she blamed Kyllae, was angry that she could have done something so stupid...Haanyath also recognized the girl needed someone right now. And Haanyath could provide the best she could. Punishment was needed, but abuse and neglect weren't. No one should suffer those.
Kyllae, unaware as to the motives and thoughts of Haanyath, simply turned on her side. Her eyes had been dry for a while now, but she still felt panged with grief. What if...what if that blue was hers? What if she'd killed her dragon? Oh, what to do, what to do...

S'kagi's footsteps made soft sounds as he approached the resting pair. He hadn't brought Coriath with him, though he knew the bronze would fly down if he felt it necessary, though Haanyath was not Cheoth, her own hatching had been... fairly memorable. Still, he needed to speak to the girl...
"Kyllae." He called out, as he approached, hoping to wake her up without causing her to panic, and added in greeting to the bulky green. "Haanyath." He liked to try and keep track of as many of the dragons as he could, but then, some were easier than others. Who -wouldn't- remember the name of firey Haanyath?
She, Kyllae, looked much more upset than he remembered seeing her before, and it looked a bit as though she had been crying. He was of mixed minds on that, the angry part of him thought she sharding well should be... but the man who'd been comforting his eight year old daughter the night before felt an grimace of faint sympathy. Still, it was a deadly mistake that had been made, and she'd been summoned. "Kyllae, Weyrwoman Helirra wants to speak to you."

Kyllae sat up, turning to see who had adressed her. None other than S'kagi himself! Some people carried their troubles secretly, but the bronzerider carried his on his face. He wasn't an easy person to forget. She rubbed her eyes with the heel of her palm, wiping away any remaining wetness in an effort to put on a more presantable face. She had to be strong for this. No doubt her punishment would be severe, being kicked from the Weyr, most likely, and she had to be ready to face that. It would do, to burst into tears.
Haanyath knew she couldn't protect the girl from this, so, she let her go. he did deserve punishment, and as long as no one layed a hand on her that wasn't called for...Haanyath would tolerate it. She nosed the girl from behind, urging her to go, even as, in a quick flicker of a motion, she rubbed her nose against Kyllae's cheek. As if trying to give her a reason to be strong.
Kyllae did shudder a little at Haanyath's touch, the strangeness of such a motion from such a vicious dragon, but she did stand, and did move towards S'kagi, mindful of her distance both out of respect and out of fear. "May I implore you to lead me there? I can't say I really know the way..." her voice was soft, mindful, respectful, but most of all distant. As if she wasn't quite all there. Which, in a way, she wasn't. Part of her had yet to return, since she'd seen that little blue between.

"I'll show you." He agreed, with a faint wince. "She's also summoned D'tai and Favan." He added, to warn her in advance. If the situation had been less serious, he would have considered a detour to grab a roll to hand to her, since she'd pretty clearly, by the state of things, been outside all night, but he'd rather keep his own head attached to his shoulders than make Hellirah any more angry, so instead he'd lead her back into, and through the weyr. Unexpected to find Haanyath guarding her, but maybe he shouldn't be as surprised. Coriath wanted little to do with her, but they were dragons after all, and generally more sympathetic than their human partners. "Just tell her the truth." He advised, as they walked. "No more, no less." He hoped she'd take that much to heart at least. Excuses, protests, he doubted it would get her very far. He did wonder if he'd looked that way, once. Albeit with a few more bandages.

Kyllae nodded, following silently. She was hardly in the mood for protesting, let alone excuses. Although at the same time, she didn't want to tell the truth either. She didn't want to talk. Right now, she just wanted to sleep. Wanted to rest and relax and hope that the whole ordeal would sink into oblivion in her mind. She didn't want to hurt anymore.
What was she supposed to say to the Weyrwoman, anyway? 'I'm sorry'? Yeah right, this whole thing seemed like a one way ticket to a good lashing and a ticket back home. Shards. The lashing she could handle, she just didn't want to go home. Maybe she could convince them to send her to another weyr? Unlikely. No other Weyr would want to take her either, but at least the hate she'd put up with at another location wouldn't be as strong as it was here, she suspected.
Haanyath stood, slowly, walking slowly behind the two. Despite all her negative traits, Haanyath was loyal. It was one of her most redeeming features. She would walk to the pair to the Weyr, and follow them until she was unable to, due to her size. It wasn't like Kyllae needed the protection, what with S'kagi leading her and all, but hey, that was Haanyath for you.

S'kagi glanced back briefly at Haanyath, wondering quietly what her rider took of this adoption, which was faintly unusual. He might have expected it out of a more motherly dragon, but not this one. Still, as long as she wasn't causing trouble, there wasn't much more she could do than gossip among the dragons. He didn't bother to try and hold more conversation with the girl. She didn't look in the mood to speak, and he doubted he would have been in her shoes. He did rather prefer it to what he had half expected, protestations of anger and innocence, of how it was anyone's fault but hers, which was what he usually heard out of people who thought they weren't confined by the rules. Well, to be fair, it was a mixed relief, since he instead felt as though he were leading someone to execution, and as far as he knew that wasn't the plan, though she might well be wishing it was.

Haanyath was not a motherly dragon. That much was painfully obvious. But deep down, she did have a softspot for dragonets, which she'd demonstrated on a few occasions, namely in the attempted teaching of Ianquith. Because Kyllae was related to T'ka, Haanyath felt obligated to provide for her as well. Especially if no one else was going to. It wasn't like she had a reputation to uphold, she was Haanyath; she did whatever the hell she wanted. Even if it was something her rider was displeased with, this action being one of them.
T'ka and Kyllae had a falling out the last time they'd spoken, but over the short period of her life so far, Haanyath had made it very clear that, while they were bonded, Haanyath was not always of the same opinion or mind as T'ka. T'ka was furious at Kyllae right now. And while Haanyath was angry too, the spotted green didn't see the need to solve the situation with violence. Go figure.
Figuring that she had walked far enough, and that no one seemed inclined to bother the pair at the moment, Haanyath relented and lay back down, yawning and making ready for a nap. She hadn't slept much last night. She took her watch duty very seriously. Before she dozed off though, she felt there was one more contribution she could make. She sought out the mind of Coriath, knowing him to be the bonded of S'kagi.
<displeased, if anything unfair was inflicted upon her>>
Kyllae, unware of Haanyath's bespeaking Coriath, only offered a glance back as the green stopped. Kyllae would never doubt Haanyath again, that most strange and magnificent of greens. For all she knew, she owed her life to her. With all that alcohol at the party last night...people's intentions couldn't have been good.
Kyllae, as far as punishment...wasn't sure what to expect. A lashing, a beating, public humiliation (Though she already had ridiculous amounts of that), being kicked out...well, these were all things she expected. Surely they would invent more. Especially knowing Favan. Oh bother.

She will be heard. The Weyrwoman is NOT unfair. But she must do what is right for all. Not for the one. Coriath answered, firmly, from his place above the bowl. He knew that S'kagi had considered his own past treatment fair, and expected no less to come to Kyllae. S'kagi for his part, kept his silence, though he did somewhat hope that they might yet get the answer of how she'd gotten past hawk eyed Z'nal. Let alone gotten onto the sands, though he thought he knew the second. However reluctant she would be to do so from now on, even a nesting dragon needed to eat sometimes. ((We can probably move this ahead and go over to This thread. S'kagi will be uncommunicative on the way to her weyr.))
