Armed with only a flashlight, Blaice shivered in the cool night air as she stalked towards the entrance of the Durem cave system. The seraph had received a strange summons to the place and while she didn't exactly have a good feeling about curiosity had gotten the better of the woman. Now she was headed into the caves and hoping that whatever might lay ahead was not going to be too dangerous, she had only minor magics to her name to defend herself with.

Blaice focused on the task at hand: finding the people who were supposed to meet her within the caves. Her blue eyes peered into the inky black darkness ... Truly it was impossible to make out even her hand in front of gher face right now. Then again Blaice had come prepared for that.

The angelic woman pressed the power button on the small silver flashlight in her left hand and it projected a muted golden beam of light out onto the dusty stone floor. There were hundreds of footprints in the dirt and dust that lightly coated the floor and it was impossible to tell which ones were made when and by who. Bitter smelling air, grime and cold grey rock was all that Blaice had to looked forward to as she trekked deeper into the caves, unsure just how far she was meant to go assuming this wasn't all a hoax..

The blonde swung the flashlight beam left and right in a rhythmic pattern giving herself the widest viewing area possible. There really wasn't much to see, though on occasion the path of light illuminated the form of some cave dwelling creature or another startling it and Blaice. Fortunately all of them were small and meant the nervous angel no harm. Regardless the stale air, creepy echoes and overwhelming darkness beyond what the flashlight illuminated made for one nerve wracking atmosphere for someone who was alone like Blaice.

As she traveled through the long winding tunnel occasionally Blaice would reach up and brushed falling dust and dirt from her hair and out of her ears and eyes. Though she wasn't a compulsive neat freak and had expected there to be dirt in the caves Blaice really had no desire to end up filthy tonight. that and she didn't want to risk an infection or something from the sort of germs that might grow in this sort of dank cool place.

Blaice had decided she'd gone too far to have not found anything and was about to turn back when a muffled noise of some sort echoed towards her from deeper into the cave followed shortly by an equally stifled whine..

" Hello? who's there?" Frowning, she shone the flashlight directly in front it her. At the edge of the pale yellow light she could just barely make something out and the winged woman tried to hurry forwards so she could get a better look at it. It was hard to navigate the area with any speed though with the the odd stalagmite and stalactite threatening you from below and above respectively if you ran into them or even brushed up against the sharp rocky formations .

Fortunately for Blaice she only had to go a few few further before her flashlight revealed to her what was waiting for her in the cave. It was a young boy, could be more than three or four years old and he was.. muzzled? That and tied and to a stalagmite with a leash attached a harness. The very idea of it infuriated the woman, you did not treat children like this.

As the boy alternatively growled and whined the angel too a moment to look him over. Cranberry red hair, cornflower blue eyes.. that weren't tracking her movements. She was getting closer and all the boy seemed to do was sniff in her general direction, his eyes failed to shift when she moved around obstacles to get to him. Was he visionless as well? If nothing else he was ill, evident by the sickly grey pallor of his skin.

" Hush little one it's ok" Blaice cooed softly trying to placate the clearly upset toddler as she got close enough to pick him up. She noticed right away that he was unnaturally cool even considering he may have been in the cave quite some time. She held him close trying to warms him with her own body when she spotted a small note taped to the stalagmite his harness was tied too. Snatching it up her eyes scanned over the words written upon the paper.

" Zombie!" No it was impossible, ok not impossible but still he was just a little sick and..liked to gnash his teeth from what she could heard behind the muzzle. Ok maybe what the note said made sense, especially when the boy had no body heat of his own or pulse. He was alive but.. not.

Regardless he was a child who needed care and she'd been chosen for whatever reason. She would not abandon someone in need just becuase the task was daunting.

" Come on little one we're going home" she murmured as he moved to carry the squirming , gnashing boy from the cave. She'd have to see if they had seeing eye dogs for toddlers, or maybe a seeing eye dragon, something bite proof.

Akilae shivered in the cool night air as he stalked towards the entrance of the Ayr cave system. He had an important task ahead of him, if he was to get any closer to achieving his goals. He was meant to choose his clan today, if he could could get to the appointed meeting place anyways. His violet peered into the inky black darkness, somewhere at the other end of the caves ahead was supposed to be a meadow his mother's family had used during clan selecting since as far back as any of them remembered. It made the boy feel a little funny to know he was t be part of a tradition that the side of his family he never saw held so dear.

Clearing his mind Akilae proceeded into the cave, leading with his left arm and the lantern that hung from it. The lantern projected a muted golden circle of light out onto the dusty stone floor. There were hundred of footprints preserved in the dirt and dust that lightly coated the floor and it was impossible to tell which ones were made when and by who. Bitter smelling air, grime and cold grey rock was all that the hybrid boy had to looked forward to as he trekked deeper into the caves.

On occasion the light illuminated the form of some cave dwelling creature or another startling it and Akilae. Fortunately all of them were small and meant him no harm. Regardless the stale air, creepy echoes and overwhelming darkness beyond what the lantern illuminated made for a nerve wracking atmosphere given how unequipped Akilae was to fight in a place like this. He was starting to think his mother's whole 'you'll appreciate the meadow more after time in the caves' speech was nonsense.

As he traveled through the long winding tunnel occasionally Akilae would reach up and brushed falling dust and debris from his hair or cloths. He hated being dirty and made a resolution to avoid caves as much as possible in the future. It didn't help that it was hard to navigate the area with any speed what with the odd stalagmite and stalactite threatening you from below and above respectively if you ran into them or even brushed up against the sharp rocky formations .

Eventually Akilae found the correct sequence of branching tunnels to lead him back outside where the air was fresh and the normally aggravating sunlight warmed his skin pleasantly. His mother had not lied, the meadow he had walked out into seemed like a small personal Oasis. Ringed by mountainside it was protected from the fierce howling winds that were so common on Ayr. Here there was only quiet, sweet smelling grass, trees, flower clusters and a small pond, it was as if a tiny piece of another continent had migrated to Ayr although the vegetation looked unique to the continent.

There was little time to stare however as his mother sat in the middle of the field, grinning and waving Akilae forward. In her lap a large vibrant green orb containing the power of many merged Ysali dragon souls.
