((Note: Kiza has paired antlers.)) Kiza lunged through the undergrowth of the forest, always pushing to go faster, to jump higher. She ran like a madbeast, like a preybeast trying to escape a determined predator, but nothing came along the trail she forged except what she brought herself. Her mother's scarf. One of her father's feathers. Her memories.
I am strong, fast, independent. I am strong, fast, independent. She gritted her teeth as a thorn bush caught at her sides and legs, but didn't slow, didn't acknowledge the pain or the way her sweat stung when it reached the cuts. She'd show him! A weakling? Nothing but a lander? A failure, no proper offspring of his? Kiza roared her pain and frustration, leaving deep tracks in the moss covered ground as she landed from one last leap and skidded to a halt. Breathing heavily, she turned and looked behind her, north, towards her father's grounds.
"It's over," she muttered darkly. "I'm not your daughter anymore." She bent her head to scratch away the feather with one powerful fore hoof, but hesitated. No. No, she'd keep his damn feather, keep it so that she'd remember. Remember everything. Her childhood, her mother's gentle smile, her father's betrayal. Never to trust a cloudchaser, never to trust a male. She bared her teeth, looking around for something to vent her frustration on.

The monarch butterfly kirin moved swiftly through the forest. He was once again on the prowl for a beautiful mare. His little fur tailed lizard, Hellhound, was right behind him. There were times where the little lizard helped him find these mare.
Then Cadeyrn came upon Kiza, with a flick of the tail he trotted over to the brown and black mare his head held high. "Hello my pretty lady," He greated lightly.

Kiza froze as she spotted the male. He was black, black like her father, and had wings -
The bright orange color of his mane and the presence of butterfly wings - rather than bird wings - were the only things that saved the male from assault. As it was, Kiza trembled with the urge to attack, the urge to hurt, to harm. No, she reminded herself, this isn't my father. This isn't him! I can't... I can't take it out on him. He's not my father. She took a deep breath and nodded politely to the male. "Good day."

His wings spread out a bit as he gave the female a small bow. "It is a good day indeed fair madam. I am Cadeyrn," He introduced himself. "May I know what your name is?"

Kiza relaxed, soothed by the male's polite manner. She was quite glad she hadn't charged him. It was nice to know that there were still decent stallions in the world, ruled by the laws of common courtesy and decency. And he called her fair madam! "My name is Kiza," she said politely, "and it as a pleasure to meet you Cadeyrn."

For her entire life, Kiza had been sheltered. She had lived in an isolated valley with her mother, and only occasional visits from her father, but she still had her instincts. And right now her instincts demanded she lie to this male, at least a little.
She forced a laugh. "Oh, I'm not alone. I merely like to wander, but my herd is thataways, and not overly far. And you? It isn't often I've met others wandering all on their lonesome."

"I myself am not alone my honored lady. My companion is traveling with me." He replied back still trying to smooth talk his way into her heart. "But I am merely on a quest looking for the one who is right for me."
Even so it seemed that he was alone and his mentioned Companion was no where to be seen. At the moment that ways, the little quetzil was off hunting for his meal.

"A companion? Yes, it is nice to have another to rely on," Kiza said, trying to mask the sudden pain she felt as she remembered her mother. She had never been lonely back then.
But what was this about searching for the one who was "right for him"? And a quest, at that... Kiza no longer felt so comfortable with this strange male. Her mother had been "right for" her father, or so he had claimed, but that had been meaningless. All he had wanted was a possession, a play toy to provide him with winged sons. Instead he got Kiza.
"I'm sure you'll find someone someday," she said pleasantly, masking the inner turmoil she felt.
