The night came easily this time. Thoko worried every night if he would wake up next morning, worried that he might awake in the burning pits of Hell. He suffered from insomnia, one brought on by the sins he committed every waking moment of his life. Nightmares became a frequent visitor in his sleeps. When was the last time he slept peacefully? He never remembered, though it was before he reached his juvenile years. The nightmares became nothing more than an often part of his life, and he slept fitfully through them. They brought on memories that he tried to forget. They taunted him, teased him, whispering words of death and sins into his ears.

So, one night he decided that sleeping wasn't essential anymore. Sleep didn't matter anymore. Staying awake was much better despite the often feelings of deprivation he felt. Sometimes he slept, most times he didn't. This was his way of living, and as he padded across the earth he felt a small chill creep into his bones. He felt cold. Feeling cold in this place was rare, though it happened.

He shook his mane and ignored the chill as he padded on. "I wonder what I will do," he mused quietly. "about this life of mine." a smirk grew on his face as he looked up at the stars that dappled the sky. So free, so daunting.

Oh well.

The splotched looking brown male finished off his meal, a sickly antelope fawn who'd strayed from the group. It wasn't totally filling, as much as Adebowale would have wanted, but it was hard enough getting prey as it was. His search for the king of his mother's pride was tiresome and, he'd admit, boring. There just wasn't that much to see while one roams the lands. Yes, you ran into the occasion group of hunters from a makeshift group, or pridal scouts looking to recruit you, and of course the lone lions who just wander aimlessly across the land. Much like Adebo was doing at that moment, though he had an aim.

The cool night air chilled his nose. It was time to find a good spot to bunker down for the night. He licked his mouth clean and was standing up when a smell came to him. Another male was around. His green eyes scanned the horizon.

Who was there?

His ears flicked in the direction of the upcoming noise. It sounded like someone was nearby, and whoever was was feasting upon the remnants of... well, something. A sigh, filled by a dramatic influence, left his throat as he padded in the direction of the obviously alerted animal.

Thoko did not feel like running from this stranger. They could end up following him, wondering who could have been approaching them, and he wouldn't be in the mood to find someone stalking him later on. He shook his mane as his eyes narrowed into tiny slits as the form of a lion became apparent through the darkness. Stopping, he starred.

"Who are you?" His voice came out gruff, not caring to mask the hostility that shined in his blue gaze. The musky scent of sickness filled the area, and he figured it must be coming from the antelope that the lion was finished with.

Either way, that was...

Ew.

Adebo looked at the male who had appeared, his fur bristling a bit. He did not snarl, but maybe that was because his dinner had decided to come back up. Violently. He coughed and turned to carcus in just enough time to make sure he didn't throw up on the male. Oh yes, that would have gone over well.

The brown lion coughed again and shook out his main. "Okay, last time I listen to a vulture about what to eat. That was nasty..." Adebowale looked back at the male, finally remembering it seemed that he was there. His fur bristled again at the hostility.

"I could as you the same." Adebo didn't give his name. He wasn't some naive little cub - Okay that was not exactly true, but he wasn't a cub - who gave his name out to anyone he met. Then again... this male could be the king he was looking for.

It wasn't often he felt a repulsion towards someone he had just met, and it wasn't often that he backed away in obvious disgust as the lion violently lost control of the meal that stirred in his stomach. Thoko thought that this lion would not recover fast. Sickness wasn't a common thing when eating something that was also sick and recovering would be a harder thing for someone. Especially this lion, even if he was a healthy male. Giving the other space, he watched the horizon as the lion finished what he was doing.

His eyes lit with amusement before he could realize it, a grin forming on his lips as he turned towards the male. A vulture, eh? Those pesky creatures were quite the devious beings. When they needed a meal, why not make someone deathly sick? It was a good tactic despite being painstakingly obvious; hopefully no one else had fallen for it.

Though the chances of someone falling would be slim, either way. He shook his head. "I will not give my name to strangers," he said while his claws dug into the ground. "since, if someone knew my name I could be in dire trouble."

"Really? That's different. What, are you wanted for the killing of some cubs?" said Adebo, in all seriousness. He didn't relax; the way the other male was on edge had him on edge as well. Adebo wasn't known for his fighting skills (quite the opposite, really. He was more known for believing everything told to him), but he did know how to fight.

Something told him that it was going to come down to at least a few paw swipes before this encounter was over.

To the unsuspecting male before him, the laughter that echoed across the lands would have seemed to be guilty, of something he truly did. Maybe he did kill cubs, he thought, eyes glittering with real amusement as he turned away from the lion. "Maybe," he said, smiling. "maybe I have."

He was aware of the danger he was getting himself into. Aware that, as the other thought as well, they both would not be leaving without blood spilling on the ground. Thoko did not mind, rather, he was overjoyed.

Overjoyed at his disturbing mind.

Adebowale twitched. He murdered cubs... He growled deep in his throat, baring his teeth. His body tensed, even more so than it already was. The growl turned into a snarl as the other male smiled.

"You... Murderer!" he roared. Adebowale launched himself at the other male, claws and teeth at the ready.

In the beginning, Thoko would have gotten a kick out of the situation he had gotten himself into. Now, all he felt was the painful feel of dread eat away at him. He had never murdered cubs, no- he would never murder cubs. Even though he had committed heinous acts before, he would never lay a paw on a defenseless cub. Yet, as Adebowale came at him, all he could do was snarl and meet the lion's attack, lashing his paw out at his face.

He didn't expect to get into a fight, though he sure had it coming. His thoughts raced mentally throughout his present ordeal, unsure of what he was going to do to get out of this situation without getting injured. There was no way out, he realized, and the feel of dread thickened.

Hopefully, Thoko would make it out alive.

You never talk about murdering cubs, let alone anyone, in front of Adebo. There were somethings that sent him over the edge, and this was one of them. Kill more antellops than you should have ,fine; joking about murdering cubs, not so fine.

The giant lion was hit in the face by the paw, but his sheer weight kept sending him forward. He landed on top of the other lion and slammed his own paw at the other's face. He snarled, rage fueling his motions, and didn't stop to think.

Though Thoko was a rather large lion, he was not prepared to be sent toppling to the ground with the full force of Adebowale's weight. He never expected to be crushed beyond breath, and as he struggled to claim a hint of air he dug his claws into the male, dragging them fitfully across thick fur. His paw, however, got in the way of his attack, which irritated him endlessly until he opened his maw wide, and shut it forcefully, taking the male's paw in his powerful jaws.

When the familiar sensation of pain, deep, burning pain, pulsed from the various areas of his body, Thoko let out a steady rumble from deep within his chest, unable to make a move, and certainly unable to land a proper blow. When he realized he was stuck, and the other lion had the upper hand, his stomach churned. For the first time in many years, he felt fear, and it was real to him.

This is definitely a situation he regretted getting himself into. He had made the wrong move, and he was paying for it dearly.
